  1. I checked out this album a while back and I found myself rather enjoying it, but I got turned off when the singer started doing that stupid growling/puking vocal style. I'm listening again, though, and I don't hear that style in a lot of places. Maybe I'll listen to the whole album again and see what I think.

  2. Ace Frehley has a covers album, Origins Vol. 1, scheduled to be released on April 15. Two very interesting songs will be "Fire And Water" with Paul Stanley on vocals and "Rock And Roll Hell," a KISS song from Creatures Of The Night, when Ace was already out of the band.

    01. White Room (CREAM)
    02. Street Fighting Man (ROLLING STONES)
    03. Spanish Castle Magic (JIMI HENDRIX) (feat. John 5)
    04. Fire And Water (FREE) (feat. Paul Stanley)
    05. Emerald (THIN LIZZY) (feat. Slash)
    06. Bring It On Home (LED ZEPPELIN)
    07. Wild Thing (THE TROGGS) (feat. Lita Ford)
    08. Parasite (KISS) (feat. John 5)
    09. Magic Carpet Ride (STEPPENWOLF)
    10. Cold Gin (KISS) (feat. Mike McCready)
    11. Till The End Of The Day (THE KINKS)
    12. Rock And Roll Hell (KISS)
  3. I'm not sure what to think of this band anymore. I was really excited at first. "Breakaway" was so full of rock 'n' roll energy. I like things about all of their songs, but it feels like they're camping out a little bit too much in that mid-tempo, almost dragging kind of territory.

  4. You can always sign me up for a new album from these guys. They're one of the best bands to come out in the last 20 years. These new clips don't sound like the best songs that they've done, but I'm sure that the whole songs will be more enjoyable in their entirety and that it'll be another good album.

  5. They released "Breakaway" and I was pretty dang impressed. Then they released "Until I Die" and I liked it, but not as much. This new song is my least favorite of the three, but we'll see how I feel after more listens, and I'm still curious to see how this album turns out.

P.S. I change what I said about "Breakaway" being the opener over "Until I Die." The video version of the latter is an edit. The full version has an extended intro that makes it more appropriate as the opening song, even though I like something faster (like "Breakaway").

  6. I don't mind songs like this, but there's nothing exciting about it, either. Also, the title just invokes memories of a previous Bon Jovi song that's much better, "Someday I'll Be Saturday Night."

I read somewhere else that "We Don't Run" is supposed to be quite a rocker. I'm curious to find out just how much it is.

I feel like I've been more patient and understanding with Bon Jovi than most people, but even I felt the frustration with the last album and so far this is more of the same. Again, I don't think that it's anything to hate by itself, but it's not good enough to really make people want to listen again.

  7. At times their songs seem a bit too simple to me, but they are cool anyway. They remind me of a British band called Tokyo Dragons both in their looks and in their music. Hope they have better luck.

Ah, yes, Tokyo Dragons! I dug those guys. It's hard to believe that they've been gone for about 10 years already. It seems like just a few years ago when I was excited by them as a new band.

  8. What do you think of the song? Sure it's just one song, but if this is the direction they're gonna be heading in... then the hope I had in this band is gone

It's good, not great. I don't like it as much as their older stuff, but I'm understanding when it comes to the unfortunate reality that bands like this often need to have a certain "modern accessibility" in order to stay afloat. It's a song that I can enjoy and it's a pretty fun video, so I hope that they continue and keep making good stuff.

  9. I listened to it again recently and while the songs weren't that bad on their own (if I listened to a single song it was ok and each had its moments) as an album I thought it got pretty boring.

That's kind of how I'm feeling about Last Of Our Kind so far. I solidly like the first three songs and the last three songs, but the middle four kind of drag for me, and that's a significant block that really alters the listening experience. Still, it's another album from The Darkness and of course it has its brilliance.

  10. Really liking the title track, very melancholic. Wasn't expecting this, good effort after the disappointing ''Hot Cakes''. And how good is ''Sarah O Sarah'' hahaha, real tearjerker right there

Man, with Last Of Our Kind coming out, there's been a lot of hatred for Hot Cakes. Fans have been talking about it, it's been in articles, and the band has even hinted at it. I think that Hot Cakes is excellent and destroys One Way Ticket To Hell ...And Back (which does have its strengths). Permission To Land is still my favorite. I like what I've heard of Last Of Our Kind so far and I'm working on hearing the whole album.

  11. I thought these guys had called it quits after releasing EP after EP. Good to see them coming back with a full length

Yeah, it's nice that they're finally about to have a full album after years of EPs. I really did the album cover!
