Love that Edguy cover, fantastic stuff !

Yeah I dig it but I think it's a trend. Their covers have been getting better but the albums worse!

Nothing has been in the same stratosphere as "Hellfire Club" for me. A few songs here and there but nothing even close to that masterpiece.

Apart from Rocketride of course which is far better ;)

    Out of curiosity, you guys haven't rated their albums, hey? I did, and shocked my balls off with the results. FYI;

    1. Tinnitus Sanctus - 76%

    2. Rocket Ride - 74%

    3. Space Police - Defenders Of The Crown - 73%

    4. Age Of The Joker - 65%

    5. Hellfire Club - 64%

    6. Mandrake - 48%

The thing with them, is their fillers are so shit and they have very few truly ball-cracking tracks. So nothing rates really high, but the fillers are so shit that it's basically impossible to rate one of their albums too high. ;)

The thing with 'Tinnitus Sanctus,' though, is there is no terrible filler on it... unlike their other albums. Hence it escaped with the highest score. Hardly a glowing endorsement, as in my mind I think 'Rocket Ride' has their best tunes... but I guess as an entire album, consistently, 'Tinnitus Sanctus' is their best... allegedly. ;)

You haven't rated their best albums - Savage Poetry (re-recorded), Vain Glory Opera and their best Theatre of Salvation. Come on man!

Then it's Rocket Ride, Hellfire Club and Mandrake. I struggle to listen to the others.

Yep way too much filler, and generally long albums with lots of songs which makes for low ratings as per your system for an otherwise pretty good band. Umm, a band that used to be pretty good but ran out of ideas.

  2. Van Hagar.

I was a staunch DLR loyalist so when he split VH they were dead meat as far as I was concerned... Till about a year ago. I was in the midst of upgrading the rest of my old VH tapes to CD when I came across "5150" in a thrift shop and decided, "Awwww what the hell."

I didn't think I'd dig it but I ended up liking it so much that I've since added "OU812" and "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge" to my collection as well.

    Who knew? (shrugs)

    Hellloooooo Baby!

What a start to an album and it never lets up. Absolute corker. Yeah Hagar was not as cool, dynamic or over the top but they smacked this one way out of the park.

Nah, Ten is basically dreadful these days. Eclipse is nowhere near there.

the quality of the music is not in question. It's the subject matter.

you defending this is quite beyond me actually. Really weird lyrics and a celtic like guitar solo....I never thought I'd see the day.

Yeah it's not as bad as BAD Ten but imo not a good fit and I wonder why they went this route.

I hope they're not like Bon Jovi. Put a blues/countryish track on an album and it slowly took over their sound and subsequent albums.

Mutt Lange overseeing the new FM album? What? Is this not news to others? What exactly does "overseeing" entail? What on earth is Mutt Lange doing with FM??

    Heh. A joke...?

Jim laying down some guitars on the new album. Steve and Mutt Lange overseeing proceedings.

'I told you my version of Man I Feel Like A Woman is better than Shania's!'

  5. Davy is great, such an original vocalist and lyricist. Been holding off listening to anything and hoping it's heavier than the last one.

I watched an interview with Davy from back in the day on YouTube and he's a lot different from what I imagined him to be like, and sound like, to what I'd imagined after all these years to listening to his albums.

  6.

As for poor lyrics, to me it's just Martensson by numbers. If the lyrics are poor here, odds are if you look into previous albums they're probably not much different. ;)

Obviously we're not into the genre for the quality of the poetry on offer. Just stated that they stood out on this album. It hasn't happened for me on any of the other Eclipse albums.

Also, as sad as it is to say as I used to enjoy doing it in my youth I haven't sat down and listened to an album with the lyrics for a loooong time.

It is a good album, quite a few fillers tho. I really like their style of heavy hard rock and Martenson is quite the capable vocalist now.

  7. Both Downfall of Eden and Battlegrounds are low lights on each album.

Downfall of Eden...Meh, it's like any number of Ten songs when Gary Hughes lost the plot.

Agree with Kouros this is the first Eclipse album where I noticed crappy lyrics.

Some great tracks on here but quite a few fillers as well. Definitely their weakest of the recent albums but still lots better than most in the genre. Martenson spread too thin!

    "Agents Of P.O.W.E.R." (2015)

A group of busty, scantily clad super heroines (including thinly veiled, generic looking versions of Supergirl, Wonder Woman and Black Widow) investigate the mysterious death of one of their super friends. Along the way, they get beaten up repeatedly by an endless parade of henchmen.

...it soon becomes obvious that this ultra cheap, shot on video softcore nonsense isn't a "movie," it's a cosplay fetish video. If you get off on watching semi-hot girls who can't act being punched in the stomach, felt up, and abused, go nuts. Everyone else can safely avoid this flick. The eye candy is nice but everything else completely sucks.

...and just to add insult to injury this thing has the balls to end on a f*ckin' cliffhanger, as if anyone in their right mind would want to watch a sequel to this piece of crap!

It's only March but this is already a contender for "worst movie I've seen this year."

I'm into obscure as much as the next guy but how on earth....And more importantly why do you watch these movies all the way to the end?

  9. This is sad news. I only bought from them once and 2 of the 6 CDs I ordered didn't arrive. When I asked where they were he told me they were out of stock and that the difference could be used as credit.

Never did use that credit and it's good to know about these things before you ship and start making decisions with other people's money.

Still, it is sad news as I know many people who used mbm regularly.
