  1. I'm beginning to think that maybe I didn't miss too much this year after looking at the stuff above.

Confess and The Nights are both great.

There are a heap I have heard on the lists above and didn't do much for me e.g. Santa Cruz, Art Nation, Wraith, One Desire etc.

Some are OK but not great e.g. Vain, Tokyo Motor Fist, Crazy Lixx, Night Flight Orchestra etc.

Others I couldn't get into like the new Cats in Space - loved the debut but new one is just not grabbing me as much as everything sounds great.

  2. I've been off the forum most of the year due to work, family etc. Anyway I came for the best of 2017 lists and all there seems to be is the current best of 2017 thread in general discussion.....or have I missed it? Come on guys, I need some lists.so I can catch up on some good music!

Where's all the stats and data? ?

So far for me it's H.E.A.T, Eclipse, Confess and a few metal albums. Oh I did also pick up 1987 again (30th anniversary) only coz it's one of the best albums ever.

Lots of shockers like Steel Panther this year as well.

    Please share!

  3. I don't mind it but at the same time I don't listen to it often.... which is the same for 98% of my collection coz...well there's just too much good stuff to listen to.

I think I have a couple of extra copies Stefan. Let me know if you want to organise a trade or something!

  4. True to their original style or not Gary's writing, vocals, productions have just gone nowhere and definitely not improved over the years. Funny cos during those couple of years between the debut and The Robe he was the one I was excited about carrying the torch and moving the genre forward.

  5.

Between him an Jon they wrote some of the best music ever and was really looking forward to the new material and shows to go along with it. Very sad, I hope Jon and the rest of TSO can continue but without the mastermind behind it we can only hope for the greatness that Paul O'Neill brung to the band.

I'm OK with them touring, but I don't care to hear new music. Not unless it's material Paul had already written.

Paul's written a heap of unreleased stuff. Was in the middle of recording 2 albums as well as a couple of finished Broadway musicals. There's a tonne of stuff we might not ever hear!

  6. From Santa Cruz (FB 18.2.):

What's up guys. Last week the guys we're rehearsing the basic tracks of the songs in Helsinki, while I was adding the finishing touches to the lyris in Milan, Italy. I know it's been a long time coming, but I gotta tell ya this album is gonna be some of the darkest & most personal shit I've ever written. The guitar solos are gonna be in fuckin' sane as well. So hold on to the edge of your seat cause this shit is gonna be the fuckin' bomb...

Hehehe, expect lots of fucking. But coz it's dark maybe fucking dead things. But it will have nice solos, not that fucking crazy over the top shit coz that would be INSANE..... Oh, and let's not forget the personal nature of the content, coz when you're in your twenties it will be about fucking, fuck everyone, where's my fucking money, why the fuck aren't I popular and let's not forget I should probably write some fucking songs with fucking Melody!

  7. Jokes aside, picture it. Could you honestly imagine, in your wildest dreams, sitting down and listening to that? I'm talking no distractions, no skip buttons. Just sit there and listen to the full 16 songs. What an immense prospect. I dare someone to do it, and post a video of it.

I then dare someone to watch that and post a video of it!

Gotta feel sorry for Shakra tho, a very poor man's Gotthard. How good is their ballads album!

  8.
