  1. Cant wait to get it over with -_-

yknow its just been a year of bad luck for me, ever since i made that thread back in late july.....my life hasnt picked up since then, it just keeps geting worse -_-

I'm really sorry to hear that, man. I hope things pick up for you. And don't worry. As a rhythm guitarist who is probably twice your age, I can tell you things always look a lot less dramatic when seen in twenty-years hindsight.

As for all the other comments, I guess everyone's having very different summers (and winters) but I'm glad everyone seems to be hanging in there. I'll still be peeking in every once in awhile, so hopefully we can chat more later. PM me anytime.

    See ya,

    -Jimbo :)

  2. I played a couple shows and have at least one more with Dokken this weekend, hopefully more to come.

You may be playing with Dokken, but I'M running through the SPRINKLER this weekend! (Now who's jealous?)

Anyway, that's really cool! And I can't wait for the next FarCry masterpiece. :)

  3. Hey gang!

I haven't been around much for the past several weeks. Summer's been crazy for me this year! I can't believe it's almost over already! (And neither can my bummed out kids.) Work's been hectic, but at least I still have a job (it was pretty touch-and-go for awhile). I've gotten a lot of things done around the house (except for purchasing a new grill, which literally blew up in May). I haven't purchased many CDs lately, but have updated my want list. And the family and I have taken several "one-tank trips" to Greenfield Village, some zoos and other places. It's been fun. Anyway, I just wanted to touch base with everyone here and say "hi" and see what everyone else did this summer and what major news I may have missed (like did Geoff finally come out of the closet?). PM me or comment here. Talk to you all soon...

    -Jim :)

  4. There's absolutely nothing to eat in this house....

It's not the House of Pancakes then?

    If only............ :crying:

I had a house of pancakes once, but whenever it would rain I had to rebuild it.

    Now THAT'S not interesting.

(Move over Tom. And change the channel. Footie's on.)

  5. Tattoos used to be "dangerous" until housewives started getting them. I swear, there are more tats at my church today than at a county fair ten years ago. Then piercings were considered "exotic" until every sixteen year old behind the counter of Wendy's got one. What's going to be the "cool but naughty" body art of the future?

    Amputation.

I can hear the discussion now: "I think a missing pinky finger on a chick is really sexy, but lopping off the whole arm? Not so much."

  6. your favorite band? only one name of coz. had to think it(among 2 others) and i ended with: heavy load(i know 4 buddies who agree with me, not on HH obviously)...

I have heard excellent things about Heavy Load and I love their cover art, but have never heard anything by them. Do they have anything on CD, George? Or is everything vinyl only?

  7. Ace Frehley will always be at the top of my list regardless of his technical prowess or lack thereof. A completely overlooked rhythm player, he also can create a tasty lick and has plenty of memorable solos.

Kim Mitchell is the best Canadian guitarist ever (sorry Alex and Ric) and may be the most eclectic rock player of all time.

Yngwie J. Malmsteen is a guy most people either love or hate to listen to. Put me in the love camp.

  8. When you see some the "sounds" being played by members of the boards here,do you ever scratch your head and think "who the bloody hell's that ?".I know I do,but it's a great way of learning.

    What do you think ?

I love you guys...and girls. *Group hug*

Why do I get the feelin' Geoff is in the middle naked? :gone:

    And standing on his head?

  9. Without thinking, Millicent angrily ripped open her blouse and tossed it into the crowded street. "Well if you didn't want me to wear it," her half-naked husband whined, "why didn't you just say so?"

  10. Ram Jam - Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Ram

I think I've only ever heard "Black Betty", how's the rest of their stuff?

It's hard to answer without a brief history of the band: "Black Betty" was actually a song recorded by guitarist Bill Bartlett's original band Starstruck, which broke up shortly after. The song and Bartlett were picked up by bubblegum producers Kasenetz and Katz and the song was marginally edited and released under the name "Ram Jam". When the single became a hit, a new band was tossed together and a bunch of tunes were lined up for a very mediocre debut album. The record label and media showed little interest or respect for the band after "Black Betty" fell off the charts and in their anger and disgust, the band added heavy guitarist Jimmy Santoro to the mix, ironically edging founder Bill Bartlett out, and wrote and recorded an album of hard rock classics called "Portrait of the Artist As a Young Ram". The album is considered by many (myself included) as one of the greatest rock albums of all time: edgy, soaked with guitar and growling vocals, and hooky without being too "pop". And it has almost nothing to do with the band's biggest hit "Black Betty".

    Weird, huh?

  11. Hey Geoff,

Why hasn't anyone asked for your advice since August 23rd, 2008?

Probably just 'cause I don't know that much. :(

I can't argue with that logic.

Damn, I was hoping you'd praise me and say I know heaps. That sure backfired. :(

Well, when I think of your knowledge the word "heap" does come to mind...
