  1. Meanstreak for me with Earthshaker a close 2nd.

Black Tiger has two of their best songs in "Open Fire" & "Forever", but not as complete a release as the above 2 IMO.

The newer stuff got way too commercialized, mainstream, radio-friendly, etc. for my taste...

Curious why you left their first two(S/T & Struck Down) releases off the voting list JL - (?)

  2. Look who the seller is and that's all you'll need to know....... <_<

If you go to www.retrospectrecords.com and click on the contact button, it e-mails Streetsofmetal@AOL.com. Streetsofmetal was a username that Vegascds used when Vegascds was not a registered user for a while. See any connection yet?  <_<  Hmmmmmmmmm

That's what I figured, guess I thought Sam's "label" was a under a different name.

My intent wasn't to bash the seller, just inquire about the pressing...

  3. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=4748241886

Original indie label is Nizer Top Records.

This auction sez label is Retrospect Records & description states release year as "1990/2005", so obviously this is not an original.

I believe Retrospect is a legit label(?), but can't believe this one was reissued legitimately without any mention anywhere here at HH.

Or should the person selling it tell me all I need to know?

  4. Yeah, I knew these were boots - but be awfully hard tracking legitimate releases of most of these titles down.

Out of the thirteen 3-on-1 titles I picked up I have ONE out of 36 bands on them that I have the actual legitimate demo tape release of!

Most of the artists on these were obscure when the releases were current & are even more so now...

  5. Indeed - He does have quite a few attractive titles in his catalog, but won't be dealing with him again after this one.

I ordered every one of the Hard'n'Heavy Rarities & Forgotten Metal Gems 3-0n-1 titles he had listed which amounted to a pretty sizable purchase. Without GEMMs shield guarantee I'm pretty sure I would've got burned!

Most sellers on GEMM have inflated prices on their titles, but it's always a risk-free transaction there. If ANYTHING is not to your satisfaction you can get your money back, which is not always the case on ebay!

  6. I did finally receive my order from Dave, but had to file a complaint with GEMM & request a refund before he sent them. They threatened to suspend his account unless he fufilled the order and what do you know - had my CDs within 4 days once that happened...

Guess that gives you an idea what it takes to get results from him!

Thanxx to gener8tr, stormspell, 66mustang, skid, & brocken spectre for throwing the karma my way on this thread to get me my tunes!

Don't give up on what he owes you, Bluebajoo! Seems persistence is a must when dealing with davesmetal...

  7. I think you're right on stormspell - in Daves defense, he has always responded to every email I've sent him. I think he means well, but for whatever reason can't deliver promptly.

He still insists my order is on the way, but hell - I sent CDs out last Friday to Poland & Denmark and those have been received already. Over a month wait for a domestic order is ridiculous!

  8. I placed an order from him on GEMM over a month ago and still haven't seen it. I got a shipment notice 10 days after making payment - then 2 weeks went by and nothing. Emailed him and found out nothing had been sent yet & got a "whoops I'll take care of that error immediately" reply. Then another week goes by. I email again then it's "took me a week to pull the order together, but now on the way" reply. Well now it's been another week - still nothing.

Seeing his catalog "temporarily" down now tells me I probably won't be seeing the order, but at least GEMM guarantees full refund on your payment if something like this happens.

I had won a couple of his auctions on ebay before he was suspended & never had an issue, but he sure had a ton of negative feedback there. Guess his methods have not changed, just moved to a different location...

  9. My last ebay purchase was with the same seller and I also received a Russian disc - his user ID says he is in Finland when in fact he is in Russia.

I requested an exchange for a legitimate pressing of the CD as the listing did not disclose this was a Russian CD & was offered a refund if I sent the disc back. I would only agree to this if return postage was included with the refund as I felt the listing was fraudulent & I shouldn't have to spend more $ along with the 5 bucks postage I was already out for something I didn't want so he told me to keep the CD & he would issue a refund in "a few days" which I have yet to see.

If these discs are not supposed to be sold outside Russia then what if any kind of liability do these sellers have legally? Obviously were not talking big bucks here, but nobody likes getting hoodwinked.

Is it getting to the point where you have to email sellers before you bid on anything to make sure you aren't getting one of these? Guess there's something to be said for sticking with sellers who you know to make sure this doesn't happen, but if you are looking for a particular title you may only find an unknown person with it listed(as was the case with me here).

  10. Greetings all..

I have read these posts about vegasmetal, and frankly I found them very disturbing. I have purchased CDs from this seller on ebay before, and have had nothing but good expierences each and every time. Now, I am not a rookie at music collecting, and have a very broad and large background in collecting. Yes guys he sells imports.  I have seen tons of reissues come out over the years, and the looks and quality varies each and every time, depending on who is putting it out.  I check vegasmetal's auctions all of the time, and i cant say I have ever found anything to be mis-leading or of false description. Items are stated as reissues or imports, or if they are used or new. The bottom line is, bidders have a responsibility to be educated. Unsure about something? Send an email and ask. I get descriptions of items all the time I am curious about. Never been lied to or mislead ever from vegasmetal about anything.

Not everyone is perfect guys, and if you had a problem with something you have received from him or anyone else, why wasnt the matter brought to that sellers attention to have it fixed?

This is a terrible place to attack someones character, and deface their name in a public forum.

Also, if any of you are curious, vegasmetal is a competitor of mine in the music selling business, so I have nothing to gain for posting this.

    Respectfully....

I would disagree that this is a terrible place to attack someone's character - that's precisely why there is a "Good & Bad Traders & Sellers" board to post on here, to make people aware so they won't get ripped off.

If you have not had a bad experience with this seller good for you, but that certainly does not mean noone else has...

  11. As many times as he's changed his mind and story, I wonder if he's Bi-polar. Seriously  :(

Good point, I was actually wondering that myself after reading JLP's comment about "someone who's not good at defending themselves". Not sure if that's what was meant but it got me thinking, especially with the complete lack of continuity (other than the profanity) within VM's posts...

Well, I just came across this dispute today & since the original thread is locked, I'll share what transpired with the ebay transactions I've had with VEGASMETAL here.

I have purchased CDs from VEGASMETALs ebay auctions 4 or 5 times. The first couple of times(in 2001 & 2002) were multi-CD winnings, some of which were fairly rare indies & everything I received appeared to be legit and as described(although I may take a closer look at those now).

However, the last 2 times I won CDs from him(last year), the discs I received were indeed Russian issue CDs with lyrics & liner notes printed in Russian & legal disclaimers right on the inserts stating it is not legal to sell them outside of Russia. The only description given in the listing for the CDs was "rare import" - nothing at all about being Russian issue. There are some buyers in his feedback profile that state they had received Russian CDs as well, to which his reply was much like what we have seen on this board.

I will never bid on any more of his auctions as a result of this, so if he wants to be arrogant enough to believe that his practices will not result in losing customers he's only fooling himself in that regard. Perhaps many of his customers are not collectors & never even look at the inserts - just take out the disc & stick it in a wallet, put the case away & never look at it twice. Based on the posts he has made I think its safe to say thats exactly the kind of customer he wants. He's made numerous durogatory statements about anyone that actually LOOKS at the insert of their CD - GOD FORBID!

I wonder how much of the money he got from me for those Russian CDs the bands KILLER & OSTROGOTH received...?
