It's growing on me. I found myself really wanting to listen to Time on our side the other day actually - it fits in really well with the flow of the album. More or less liking most of the album though it seems to drop in quality on the second half. I'll see how it goes

I do wish they put their albums out on vinyl. Digital is fine but it ain't the same. Especially since this new album has cool artwork and would look great on my wall.
I don't mind digital, but I'd love for more dynamic versions of the albums to be released. They're victims of the loudness war for sure. Freedom Rock is especially bad - you can hear clipping on that one.
Anyone ever come across a vinyl rip of Tearing down the walls? I have actually yet to get a decent record player so mine is staying in it's sleeve for now!
-
I like it too. It was written around the time of the first album apparently, hence the Dave Dalone song writing credit
-
I've been downloading mp3s since the mid 90s, completely unashamedly as I always buy CDs for what I like. I've multiple copies of H.E.A.T albums so no worries about me not getting this one I'm thinking I'll skip the standard edition and go straight to the Japanese release also.

I guess what's most disappointing is that I had certain expectations due to Dave being back in the band which weren't met
Aye, Same. I'm more of an Eric Rivers fan, so when Dave originally left I thought "bummer, but we still have Eric" - Only for Eric to leave down the road. He's been a big influence on my guitar playing so I was genuinely sad that he was gone. Dave returning was really the best replacement for him though, so I was super excited to see what he'd do on the new album. Definitely part of why I love the first two albums is just how melodic the leads are - wish we had more of that on this release, and just more of Dave's playing in general.
Though I am happy that we're getting more keys

Can't stress enough how great "Redefined" is
Love Dave's solo on it
-
As for ''shit kicking '' not sure if I would call it that but Point of no Return and Emergency are definitely GREAT songs that instantly clicked and still rock when listening to them today over 3 years later
Yep for sure - definitely want those to stay on the live setlist.
-
The band were great, but Erik needed to calm down a bit perhaps. My friend tagged along who didn't know the band at all and his only comment about Erik was "wow, cocaine is a hell of a drug!"
-
He's also been a bit cringeworthy live on the TDTW tour, compared to previously. I did laugh though when he spat up into the air, intending to catch it in his mouth, and it landed straight on his eye
Kenny is still the better of the two vocalists for me, and the gap sadly only gets bigger as the newer albums are released.
It's a shame as he really, really impressed me on Address the nation.
-
The full album is out there if anyone is bothered looking.
-
How could anyone say Address the Nation is heavy?!
-
Loved this one since I hear it on the Spanish radio thing. Definitely a Downtown vibe to it. Always love seeing the lads playing the solos up close in the studio too!

I am one who doesn't understand/like the whole " A band needs to grow/mature/try different things as an artist" crap, but I do understand as an artist not wanting to put out the same thing over and over. But with glowing, GLOWING reviews from an album as ATN(and what a masterpiece that album is), why, WHY would you stray so far from it???!!!
Aye, there's a few lads on their Facebook page who like to trot out the "keep moving forward, no steps back" stuff when people post any sort of criticism of extreme changes in sound, plus the fangirls who'll worship anything they do, even if it's just the sound of them farting into a microphone. I always worry these types will push the band into pursuing the wrong direction. ATN was a change, in maturity and song writing, but it was still H.E.A.T at it's essence - they didn't need to leap so radically from it.
-
Yeah it's pretty meh unfortunately. I reckon it could be my least favourite song by them now (new appreciation for A shot at redemption here!)
I don't mind pop(ish) songs but when you can go listen to pop bands for that, why bother?
The lyrics aren't the best either, and those repeated phrases are a bit annoying.
I'm *all* about guitars with H.E.A.T though, so the lack of these on this track is my biggest disappointment.
-
Yeah, I don't think it's as bad as only two good songs, those two are definitely my favourites on the disc.. I'll listen to We will never die, and Eye for an eye or Enemy in me too sometimes, but the rest is just not worth the listen.
-
Yeah TDTW is the worst by a fair margin, sadly. I tend to listen to Point of no return and Emergency then turn it off.
I definitely don't want to hear anything more from them that sounds anything like A shot at redemption. Hopefully that one is gone from the next tour songlist...
-
Sounding very average to these ears but to each their own.
I'm with you on that, unfortunately. I like Redefined a lot though
-
We clicked sync like a clock, at least that's what I thought etc
-
If I had my way, they'd put full guitar tabs in with the album
-
Everything is always 10/10! I can't take these reviews seriously. I dunno are these lads doing these "reviews" just so they can get albums early...
Pull out your Thesaurus and use as many variations of punchy/thundering/pounding/impact as you can for bonus points!
Monsterous!
Tells you absolutely nothing worthwhile about the *actual* music. Extra bonus points for excessive use of exclamation marks!!!!
Ok rant over But seriously, I've got this on pre-order but I'm not pushed on it. Though I really liked the first album, the singles so far haven't appealed to me, especially Ghost Town and it's really odd out of place Euro dance breakdown bit near the end. Very odd indeed.
-
Yeah I've never had a problem with his voice at all. Loving the new track so I think I'll pick this one up on CD
-
Yeah Sinner is great Looking forward to this one now.
-
Just listening to the bonus tracks now... some great guitar playing on Red headed step child!
-
I guess I'm alone in preferring the second half to the first
I dunno, I wanted something different as I wasn't a fan at all of the last album, and I like that they've at least tried something new, whether it works or not. They're definitely getting too stale though.

Yeah i'd hover between ATN and Freedom Rock as my favourites
