  1. Wow, this comes pretty much out of nowhere for me, but someone posted the news of a new Wig Wam album coming later this year over at the MelRock Noticeboard. The new single "Wall Street" is already out on February 24!

  2. Love this guy as well, can't wait!

BTW, so he will go under the new name Chris Laney's Legion now and not Chris Laney again ?

From what he said on Facebook yes. I think he wants to tour much more with the new record than with his previous ones, so that's more kinda like a band now. John Berg (Ex-Dynazty) is his guitarist.

  3. Grey suggested to make a new thread for this one and I agree.

    Here's the press-release:

The release date for KORITNI's new studio album WELCOME TO THE CROSSROADS is now confirmed for Monday 12th March through Verycords / Warner Music France. Distributors and release dates for specific territories will be announced shortly. Five years on from the Lady Luck debut album in January 2007, Welcome To The Crossroads will be Koritni’s third studio album.

The new album pictured here features artwork illustrated by Mark Wilkinson, who already worked on some previous releases (Game Of Fools, Red Live Joint, No More Bets).

The band also reunited with long-time engineers Mike “Fraze” Fraser, Dan Leffler and Dean Maher to record & mix the album throughout 2011 at various locations like Megaphon Studios in Sydney, Hipposonic or the Warehouse Studios in Vancouver. Once again after his work on Game Of Fools, Ryan Smith performed the Mastering at Sterling Sound, New York.

For the first time in Koritni history, a few special guests were asked to take part of the project, and they kindly agreed. So it is with honor the band can announce that Jeff Scott Soto (WET, Journey), Jeff Waters (Annihilator) & Rusty Brown (Electric Mary) will be featured on the album.

The full tracklisting for the album (total running time 50:37) is:

    01. Down At The Crossroads (4:18) featuring Jeff Scott Soto

    02. Better Off Dead (3:49) featuring Rusty Brown

    03. Party's Over (3:34)

    04. Now A Word From Our Sponsors (0:31)

    05. TV's Just A Medium (4:13) featuring Jeff Waters

    06. Lost For Words (3:50)

    07. Sydney In The Summertime (4:03)

    08. Sometimes (6:58)

    09. Money Talks, It Says Goodbye (4:15)

    10. Let's Go Crazy (3:22)

    11. Hold On (6:42) Electric version

    12. Take It Like A Man (5:00)

One of my favourite new bands out there and definately one of my most anticipated albums this year.

A download of their first single "Down at the crossroads" is available here

  4. I like albums best when they consist of 12 or more songs nowadays, but then it doesn't necessarily have to be 'all killer no filler' for me. Quite a few times I totally got into the so-called 'fillers' after a couple of year...

Would be great to hear all '35 or so' tracks in some sort of way though. I wonder why that kinda model that Wig Wam used with 'Wig Wamania' (where you got a personalized code in the booklet for extra content on their website) never was repeated. They could put up some of the songs they didn't use for download for the fans.

Anyway, I'm sure it's going to be one hell of an album!

  5. Today our third album, RIOT AVENUE will be mastered and done! We can't wait to play these new tunes for you live, Song titles like “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot,” “Young Blood,” “Riot Avenue,” “In The Night,” “Be Gone,” “Only the Dead Know.”

Guitarists Edd & Andy; "There's a lot of fast songs, raw riffs with twin guitars on this album. Early aerosmith or guns' really inspired us with this, so it's very different from the other Lixx records, Much more live sounding and organic and we feel real exited about it.

We recorded and produced the album ourselves and also mixed it ourselves together with 'Robert 'Robban' Ahrling, he really helped us gettin' what we wanted, a key person in this recording, also Vic Zino of Hardcore Superstar helped us allot, especially with the guitarsounds, really made them bleed, and last, Jocke & co' at Sandstöms, couldn't have done this record without them.

We started working with producer Chris Laney but our visions were different for how this record was gonna sound. We had a great time working together earlie in the process but we had to part ways because although Laney's sound was good we felt that it wasn't right this time, we respect each other in this decision.

Danny Rexon: "This time the music is a little more riff-based and straight-forward. We wanted a more raw feeling in the production, back to the roots sound and songwriting compared to our previous albums and there's a lot more up-tempo songs than we had on New Religion.

That leaves me slightly worried about I thought would be a dead set killer.

Fast paced songs is fine, as long as they dont ditch the killer choruses and hooks which graced the first 2 albums.

Yeah, leaves me a little worried too. Although the bits and pieces in their studio-blog sounded fine, you'll never know how the finished product is going to sound.

  6. Can't hear the mofo anywhere. :(

Here's a try to show you the way:

    1) go here

    2) scroll down to "11.00 - 11.30 fredag 03 feb 2012 " and click

    4) now skip forward to about 14:45

    5) ...and enjoy the melodic bliss! :christmas:

Seriously, as much as I love the first two records and Kenny, if this song is any indication of what the album is going to be like, we're in for a classic – could be their Slippery When Wet (of course not in terms of sales or worldwide popularity)! Love Erik's voice and the slightly punchier production! The intro is even more 80s sounding than their first two albums imo.

  7. Yeah, it's a shame!

One of very few bands who actually tried to make it the old-school way through a LOT of touring...I've seen them last October and although their performance was great, their split-up doesn't surprise me that much as their "supposed to be upcoming" songs had that "we don't really know in which direction to evolve"-feeling imo.

Let's hope for some new bands to emerge from this situation!

  8. I just played it for the first time on my stereo and although I've been anticipating this one since I first heard "Deathwish" a couple of months back, this is far beyond my expectations!

Seriously, except the growls on "Love Nightmare" this is more or less a slab of modernized Hair-Metal with hints of AOR. "Rockin' all Night" could just as well have been on Danger Danger's debut: Sure it's sort of juvenile and simple, but hell I like that track a lot!

    Great stuff! :party421:

  9. Hinder just had a short update on FB that they begun writing their new album in Nashville! So I'm pretty sure they're going to release a newbie towards the end of the year.

Crashdiet should definately have an album out this year from what I've read! Actually it was planned for spring, but because of some more gigs they've played at the end of 2011 all around the world it probably is going to be out in autumn.

Dynazty have pretty much finished recording their 3rd album together with Peter Tägtgren and it's going to be out around April/May! There's a video-studio diary over at youtube.

I have a feeling there's going to be quite a few debut-releases from upcoming Swedish bands this year if you go by their FB-updates. Baby Jane is definately one of my most-anticipated albums! They really took their time to put it together and if it's well produced it's going to be a must-have for any Crazy Lixx or Crashdiet fan.

Also it seems that Pretty Wild, Debbie Ray and Pompei Nights are going to release follow-ups this year...

But there's also a LOT of new more AOR-stuff I'm looking forward to, one of them being a new Jimi Jamison album (written/produced by Erik Martensson).

  10. Babylon Bombs... are they getitng back together? They haven't been together in a few years now. I know they tried out a new singer back then, but it never went any further. You heard any whispers? Noticed they ahve been active on their face book of late.

Lipstixx n Bulletz ... aslo been very quiet for a few years. WOuld love to hear something new from them too.

Babylon Bombs to my knowledge are still retired unfortunately. Some of the band-members are playing in other bands now (can't recall the names, nothing I really liked). Would love to see them getting together again or at least releasing another cd with unreleased songs and demos!

Just got the Sleaszy Ride Records-Newsletter: Lipstixx'n'Bulletz have split up!

    So did American Bang unfortunately!

Is that old school-Britny Fox record still in the cards? I surely hope so, but I doubt it...

Do you or anyone else by chance know what the status of "Hell'n'Diesel" (excellent debut) and "The Galvatrons" (really liked their debut!) are? It still makes you wonder when bands manage to fall completely under the radar in this day and age...

There's a lot more I'm looking forward to, mainly newer or younger bands and not so much a lot of the regrouped 80s bands you named (Trixter and Treat being the shining exceptions!)...still cool to read it though!

  11. I'd be surprised if the Van Halen one gets released. It's another Chinese Democracy in the making.

Actually they're planning for a February release followed by tour, so if anything happens, probably going to be late for 3-4 months but should've been released this year

Yeah, it is pretty much confirmed now that the album is going to be out around February 7 (depending on where you live it's the 6th or 8th)! Saw some footage over at blabbemouth where they have shown the new album cover on Times Square on New Year's Eve, so that's probably a good sign.

  12.

    THE MORNING AFTER - Legacy

now this band came out of nowhere and surprised me as it's a great one. Looks like a young UK band, they're mixing melodic rock with modern heavy metal, so if you remember Taking Dawn from last year, I guess this is pretty similar. Singer is definitely has a harsh pipe for MHR, but usual type you expect from a young heavy metal band. The strength of this band is the harmonies, either the vocal part and also guitars. Songs that I like here are 'America', 'The Witch Is On My Back', 'Over The Wire', Power Drive', and 'Nightmare Planet'.

The worst track is only 'Streams of Stars', not horrible but it's too long at 10 minutes, lots of wasted spaces, and not prog enough to be streched that long. 'Seasons' comes next, not a bad ballad tune again, but it's kinda out of place and not sync-ed with the rest of the album. I recommend you to try this if you can grab it, definitely won't disappoint. 80%!

I did start a thread on these guys but it got zero interest...probably because of the 5 seconds of rough (couldnt really call it growly) vocals in the you tube song...which is the only 5 seconds on the whole album. Overall its pretty good, worth a listen for sure.

Dito, so did I haha! :drink:

It's a very nice album which I also rank around 80%, with 'America' and 'Nightmare Planet' being my faves.
