First Battle Beast, then One Desire and now this. Good year for Finland.

Best damn thing released this year, in a class of its own. Ted Poley for president!
-
My 3 favourite albums should be my essential.

Dare and The Defiants are the winners for me.
-
The Defiants album is the best album of the year by a mile. Listening to the new Treat album right now.

Not to chabby, one to keep an eye on.

The holy bible of overrated albums.Harem Scarem - Harem Scarem
Start with that one.
I agree 100% with him! I can't believe I just wrote that.
Survivor - Vital Signs
Journey - Escape
those two are part of the Holy Bible of AOR releases

Best of Denmark together with the best of Sweden, a match made in Heaven. The Vikings will come again.

Have patience with this one for Gods sake! It is a grower and once you have given it enough spins, you will realize it is up there with the best they have ever done. It took me some spins to appreciate songs like "Invincible", "Energized", "Forever Young" and even "Blind Faith". I rate this album a healthy 92 % !!!

Every song is a masterpiece, one of the best albums ever made. This album took this band to a new level and they were already on a very high level. Any song would be a highlight on any album ever released. It is that good.

Not counting Def Leppard since I will hear it tomorrow.
-
Sounds fantastic. Together with Magnus Karlsson and Find Me the most anticipated albums at the moment.
-
Easy winner is Def Leppard, no contest.
-
OMG, horrible stuff.
-
Don't like it, average stuff.
-
Wow! Promising stuff, judging from this, Kingdom Rock might match the fantastic first album.
-
Loved the first one to bits, som definitaly go for the follow up.
Back in the vinyl days, there were 8 tracks on an album normally. Much easier to pack an album full with killers back then. Today there are many times way too many songs on an album and often too many fillers. So an album a year nowadays is hard to achieve, att least a quality album.

My far from complete list, still getting into the 70's music and still a lot to discover.
- AC/DC - Let There Be Rock
- Kansas - Point Of Know Return
- Styx - The Grand Illussion
- Meat Loaf - Bat Out of Hell
- Foreigner - S/T
- UFO - Lights Out

Welcome to Looneyville hope you enjoy your stay.
Done it very much this far.

Yeah, defo too metal. I honestly can't remember the album but I know his work and it all sounds the same... no matter who is on vocals. I think that's what annoys me most, that despite a banquet of different vocalists, it all just sounds the same...
I guess if you are not interested in some sort of music, you might think it sound the same because you don't listen to the songs with interest. Like those not interested in the rougher kind of metal who think they only scream. Personally I think all the rap albums out there sounds the same, maybe because I hate that kind of music.

Will be hard to top his last album since it is one of the best albums ever! The samples sound anythying but average Geoff, give me a break! Extemely high expectations on this one. Can it top the fantastic albums from Eclipse and Symphony X this year? Would not be surprised if he did.
Sorry mate, his stuff just all sounds the same to me. That well produced, formulaic song-writing that's the same on every album. It's solid stuff... but just doesn't excite me one bit.
Did you actually listen to his album?? Different singers on almost every song. Songs that was written for the singers. It is not a formuaic album, but your post is.

I had expected Warrant - Dog Eat Dog from Geoff, read somewhere that he said it was the perfect album, or it can simply be that I mix him upp with someone else.
Nah, it'd be me. I do rate that album very high. It probably features as many 10/10 songs as many in my list, but it'd probably only be a couple of tunes like 'Inside Out,' 'Sad Theresa' and to a degree, 'Machine Gun' that would just rate around that 8/10 mark to lower the score down a bit.
As is the case with so many albums outside my top. Almost there, but still too inconsistent to be worthy a place.
-
Virtually impossible - there are probably 50 albums which could change place on a daily basis - all rating around the 95% mark.
I guess albums which hold a special place which ive lived with for years and never tire - in no order
Bon Jovi - s/t
AC/DC - Back in Black
Iron Maiden - NOTB
Journey - Escape / Evolution / Infinity
Steve Perry - Street Talk
Harem Scarem - s/t & Higher
Marillion - Script
The best AC/DC album which says a lot, in my top 10 as well.
Categorizing music into genres - is it good or bad for artists?

There can never be too many categories to read, makes it easier to find what you are looking for, but way too many if you want to classify them on your own.
