I'm just here to announce that it's official. Unruly Child has signed with Frontier Records. All the original members have agreed to come together for another record. We're excited and wanted you to know. I made a video to commemorate the signing today September 26, 2009. It's in my videos if you'd like to see it. Hope to see all of you soon. Keep on Rockin!!

  2. The new album stuff sounds great (as was their debut under this name). For anyone who likes these guys they should also check out Fury (http://heavyharmonies.com/cgi-bin/glamcd.cgi?BandNum=4530&CDName=Fury) as this was their previous band back in the 80's. They only did the one album under this name (there are loads of other bands called Fury, so don't get confused) and it is a real great slice of Pomp-laden AOR from THE decade.

well after the intial excitement for a new release i thought everyone forgot about it... as the band forgot about it... but no:

  3. Simply superb...

Of course I'll pick it up, especially if it's gonna be the 2-CD/1 DVD pack described here. That sounds sweet as hell. Glad I didn't lay out big import $$ for that "Jigoku-Retsuden" set of re-recorded hits from Japan now. I had a feeling it'd surface on this side of the ocean eventually. Gene wouldn't be satisfied with just sucking the $ out of Japanese fans.

On another KISS related note, has anyone seen the KISS M&M's advertisement yet?

    kissmm.jpg

:rofl2: How freaking COOL is that??

Supposedly there will be limited edition KISS M&M candies available in October to coincide with the album release... can't wait to see those.

  4. Hi -

I have 'Round One' for sale over at my site on CD. It is up for £30 but I happened to speak to the guy selling this the other day and he is willing to negotiate (reminds me I must amend posting on my site to this effect).

    My site is: http://www.freewebs.com/aor4sale/

(There is a full description on the site regarding this release/condition/picture link etc)

I may also have 'Danger Zone' in the near future (but this is a Time Warp re issue)...

You can email me at: aor4sale@yahoo.co.uk

    Many thanks -

Can anyone tell me about this band 'Fist' from Ontario, Canada, formed in 1979.

Are they a Hard Rock group like April Wine/Triumph that sota thing or heavier?

    Which is their best album?

Were any of their older albums released on CD at some point?

Useless information...in searching for info on this band I discovered there is a New Zealand Death Metal band called 'Fist Fucked by Aliens'. Found that funny and had to share.

  5. Welcome to the board.

    Graham

    Hey everyone

My name's Andy and I play bass in Sydney (Australia) band LORD.

Signed up to submit some artwork, and figured I'd keep posting as the forums look like a bit of fun :)

    So hello! :)

  6. I'd say on par with the other (1st offering). Have heard off a friend and hope to get my very own copy in a day or two.

This one is excellent. I'll go out on a limb and say that early indications suggest it is better than the debut. A bit harder rocking this time, the songs just deliver one after another. The weakest two are probably David Reece's and Paul "The Voice of Sewerage" Sabu (Please, for the love of f*ck can someone tell this dude to stop singing stuff!!!) but even those songs are pretty good.

Highlights are Schmidt's 'Only 4 ever' along with 'Into the light' and 'Shame on you'... and 'Tonight'. Seriously, so many great songs here. This is going to climb my best of list this year, I dare say.

    Here's the line-up:

    1. Into The Light ; Tony Martin

    2. Shame On You ; Bert Heerink

    3. Tonight ; Joe Lynn Turner

    4. Rock Me ; Paul Shortino

    5. Remember Me ; Rob Rock

    6. Lay You Down To Rest ; Mitch Malloy

    7. In The Heart Of The Young ; Tony Mills

    8. Dirty Games ; David Reece

    9. Down The Drain ; Paul Sabu

    10. Only 4 Ever ; Torben Schmidt

    11. Maniac ; Michael Voss

  7. Kerrang - tell me about it. You'd think the 80's never happened if you look at it these days. I sooooooooo miss Wimpwire and all the cool interviews/articles from the bands I was into (and am still into).

Sadly in my mind nothing has replaced Kerrang - even though there are some other good mags out there now.

Welcome Graham to the insanity.Your first sale was to Dave Reynolds, that is so cool,ah the glory days of Kerrang.
  8. Hi -

Is that the Profile pic on my Facebook you mean? (Recently changed it).

    All the best -

    Welcome Graham,

Always good to have another UK person on board. Where abouts near London do you live??

By the way... love that profile pic! :headbanger:

    Cheers

  9. I picked up a copy of China Sky down in Brighton (UK) back in the late 90's on CD for next to nothing. The guy in this independent shop had it in the Dance section (obviously no idea what it was) - I only happened upon it as I was leaving the shop. I had found some other bits and payed for them then as I wen't out it caught my eye - I could not believe it. Ok so it was not mint but it plays fine and all the artwork was fine. I walked around on a constant high for the rest of the day. It was an album at the time that had elluded me. One listen and I was hooked - it was a bargain and now comfortably sits in my Top 10 of all time fav albums.

    Graham

Thought of this whilst playing Wild Horses, Bareback album again that I paid Oz $2 for, still in the wrapper.
  10. London: -

There are Record Exchanges in Nottinghill Gate, Berwick St & Camden - these sell all formats of music and great for bargains (highly recommended)

There is a specialist Oxfam Music outlet in Ealing Broadway - in which I have picked up some intersting FF AOR before

Croydon has 1O1 Records - hit n' miss for AOR/Metal etc / Beanos was still open on one level the last time I was over there in July '09 but I fear it has gone now from what I understand?

Most have gone. You can travel out to the 'burbs like Reading, Billericay (don't think I have spelt that right) for the odd shop but often or not it is not worth it.

Most have either disappeared completely or gone online.

    Check me out online: http://www.freewebs.com/aor4sale/index.htm

Hi there. I'm new to this board and just found this cool section.

I will head for London and Manchester in the good ol' UK this fall. Anyone got some addresses of cd and record shops where I can get classic 80s metal or NWOBHM???

My last visit to London is about 20 years ago and I'll remember myself searching a very small part of the Camden fleamarket. But the most heavy record I found was a Cheech and Chong soundtrack (would be rather "stoner" rock now, wouldn't it?).

    Thanks for any hint.

  11. Thanks for the heads up on CD Baby having.

    Check out: http://www.phonorec.com/Diana/venus&.htm

    http://www.phonorec.com/Diana/newmoon.htm (mention of Baywatch song)

    http://www.phonorec.com/Diana/venus&1.htm

Also, Diana Dewitt is linked with the fantastic soundtrack 'Night Of The Comet'. If you can find a copy of this soundtrack on Vinyl or MC it is a great slice of AOR.

    Graham

I'm not sure when this was originally released but I think it was 1994 or so, though sounds like it's from the late 80's.

Apparently these girls did the Baywatch song?

Fans of female fronted rock/AOR might enjoy this.

Pick up the 2003 re-issue with bonus tracks at CD Baby for $15

They also have their debut album 'Grand Time' for sale but CD Baby lists it as $150.00 which I'm sure must be a typo and they mean $15.00

    Check it out-

  12. Hi all -

Listening to Camy Todorow '2 Souls In 1' at the mo - anyone heard of this lady (I guess you all have)? This is a second spin for me - just trying to get a handle on the second half of this album... The first half and a a bit is awesome Melodic Hard Rock and then she meanders off on a tangent that even see's here doing some God awful Dance track, as for 'Nights In White Satin' (WTF). I remember Izabella's album being a game of two halves as well with the second half being the best. Why o' why do they do it?

Has anyone else come across this particular anomaly with albums that start out all AOR (or in Izabella's case - in reverse) only to seriously meander off in another direction?

    Thanks -

    Graham

  13. Yippee!!! All worthy of the re-iss treatment...

Following the Clif Magness/BLVD/Think Out Loud comes these (plus Joe Lamont/Andy Fraser/Tom De Luca). They're definitely hitting all the big rare AOR discs, luckily I sold my copy of all of these three already for good prices (the West of Sunset fetched over £100) so will pick these up....
  14. Awesome album from Pseudo Echo. Whilst I do like their other material this is by far the most AOR related. I have only ever seen it once on CD (and I snapped it up) at Amoeba in San Francisco when I was over there. I understand they (the band) do not look on this album too favourably as it was not really their thing. They were flown to the U.S. to cut it and felt it was too 'Van Halen-ish' - a case of the Americans trying to turn them into something they were not, from what I understand. It worked for Whitesnake (1987) but sadly for these guys, well, it didn't. It hit the bargain bins and Pseudo Echo called it a day. Another AOR crime...

    Graham

Just finished up my reading and my thoughts were confirmed. I have passed CDs from this band in bargain bins for eternity and never thought of picking one up, (correctly) assuming they were some ugly Aussie pop group. Though admittedly I never saw 'Race' in these bargain bins.

Anyway, Matty-Boo recently told me to buy their CD called 'Race' from 1989 in the Secondspin sales because it was awesome. It was dirt cheap, so I took the plunge and what can I say, Matty-Boo has delivered once again! This is really good stuff. Slick melodic rock / AOR, almost like a slightly heavier version of 1927 perhaps? This 'Race' CD is actually really, really good. After reading up on them I will not be purchasing any of their other CDs, but if you can track this one down (Matty-Boo and) I highly recommend it!

    Tracks:

    1. Fooled Again

    2. Over Tomorrow

    3. Caught

    4. Imagination

    5. Don't you forget

    6. Runaways

    7. Searching for a glory

    8. Take on the world

    9. Metropolis

    10.Eye of the storm

If you don't believe me, check out this review from Trendfabrik.com:

ONE OF THE BEST AOR RELASES FROM DOWN UNDER; A MUST HAVE FOR EVERY AOR COLLECTION !!!

In 1989, PSEUDO ECHO released their third album titled ‘Race’. With the release of this album, things became quite interesting for the AOR fan. ‘Race’ was filled with classic 80’s AOR that sounded quite Canadian. There are clear similarities to bands like HONEYMOON SUITE, the first HAREM SCAREM, HAYWIRE, BYSTANDER and also you may pick up some FM or STRANGEWAYS references.

Mentioning such big AOR bands, this can only be a classic. And that’s what I would call this album: an AOR classic that is pretty unknown among the AOR fans. I don’t know why the band changed their music direction into this type of great AOR, but I am glad they did. Maybe it is due to the fact that co-producers/mixers like Bob Clearmountain, Brian Malouf and Paul Lani helped the band on ‘Race’. 3 well-known names in the AOR scene. Not one track is weak on ‘Race’.

The CD contains 10 great AOR tracks, from the opener “Fooled again” till the closing track “Eye of the storm”, you can hear all the ingredients and standards that an AOR fan likes to hear in an AOR band. Almost every song has a brilliant hookline too! What more do you need! PSEUDO ECHO featured the brothers James (on keyboards) and Vince Leigh (on drums), Perre Gigliotti (on bass) and Brian Canham (on lead vocals and guitars. They all wrote together their own songs, and no outside writer helped them.

Basically, you get 7 uptempo AOR rockers (“Fooled again”, “Over tomorrow”, “Imagination”, “Don’t you forget”, “Runaways”, “Take on the world” and “Eye of the storm”), 1 short instrumental (“Metropolis”) and 2 fantastic semi-AOR ballads (“Caught” and “Searching for a glory”). Those 2 semi-AOR ballads “Caught” (similar in style to early FM mixed with early STRANGEWAYS) and “Searching for a glory” (a bit like ROXUS on their ‘Nightstreet’ album) are definitely the best tracks and are classic AOR for sure.

The rockers are great too, the best ones being “Eye of the storm” and “Over tomorrow” that can without any doubts, easily be compared to HONEYMOON SUITE in their heydays! The guitars, keys and backing vocals on the whole album sound just too perfect and that’s where the sad story comes to an end. Because just when things became interesting for the AOR fan, PSEUDO ECHO split and the incredible album ‘Race’ never had a follow-up.

Last words I can add are that every AOR fan must have this ‘Race’ album of PSEUDO ECHO in their collection, if not, grab a copy today!

  15. Thanks for the info fahrenheit. 1927 are one of my fav Aussie bands.

The Re-mastered CD re-issue of 1927's ...ish album should be available next month. It marks the 20th anniversary of one of Australia's most loved albums. I've heard conflicting reports as to what record label is responsible for the re-mastering. One report says Warner, another says Sony and another says Krescendo Records. I've heard from someone involved with the band that the re-master will contain bonus material but I don't know any more than that. The band should have a new website up soon as well.
  16. Hi folks -

I was keen to get going and so I have posted several things to the forum without coming here first. I know it's not compulsory but, well better late than never.

My name is Graham Fenn, I live in the UK, near London and have been into AOR and related since around the mid-Eighties. I was still at school during these years so strapped for cash I did not have any kind of collection to speak of. In '89 I set sail for the wonderful world of Work and with hard earned cash in hand I began building my collection.

Through the years I got married, moved house (a number of times), did this did that and started to also get into selling/trading original AOR/related music on Vinyl, CD, MC, Video & DVD.

A couple of years back I decided to move this mainly offline venture/hobby (apart from a few sales here and there on eBay) to the online world. I did not want anything fancy and so slowly built up a free hosting site that accomodated my ambition.

In 2007 the site went live with my first sale going to Dave 'Kerrang' Reynolds - for me that was worth setting the site up alone. He is a God just like the singers we all hold in high esteem and for me to have something he wanted made my day. Thanks Dave, I hope the album still sits in your collection and it brings you joy listening to it.

Since then I have made some great friends, both trading and selling. My site whilst owned/updated by me also has a few local folks selling on it too. It has also grown and I have things in mind for the future.

I post in MelodicRock.com & Glory-Daze as well as elsewhere about updates to my site and hope that I will be doing the same here in the near future.

Well, I think I have bored the pants off you enough and hope that you will come check out my site sometime. Thank you.

    Graham
