  1. Back onto the subject of this topic.

I found nothing out of place about that wording.

I just assumed it meant not a CDR,rather than its an original pressing/release!

Original CD to me will always just mean its not a CDR.

First pressing, original pressing, original release etc,now they would mean exactly what they say!

I dunno what the fuss is about!

Just some verbal acrobatics, that's all.

One party says it is "original CD, not home-made CD-R", while the others rightfully point to the fact that while the first statement may be valid in certain circumstances, this particular release in fact is re-issue on duplicated pro-printed CD-R.

So it is kinda rhetorical debate - all bits by itself are true, but put together could mislead you quite good. Since you obviously assumed it is "not CDR," you got mislead too.

In other words we have very rare and unique oxymoron here: an original* CD which is not homemade CD-R, and yet is ...CD-R

    Funny, isnt it :)

    * - i'm not really sure if it is really original, just temporary taking their word for it for the sake of the argument.

    OH BOY..... :blink::wacko:

  2. OK guys I didn't mean to start anything here.I'm rather new to collecting. My knowledge of what all the terms mean is rather lacking. This is why I turned to Dan or Tbone or any other helpful hinters to clarify this for me.It wasn't meant as anything negative toward the seller. As far as elementary goes,it's only elementary for the experienced collector, not new comers longing for a little understanding. For everyone who tried to clarify I thank you.Chocularok I understand what you're saying .Thank you for the clarification !

No problem...basic rule of thumb...if the auction description is confusing, a lot of times it's intentional & done for a reason. Best to avoid & look elsewhere. Happy hunting :drink:

I'll keep that thought in heart. Thanks again !

Dan as i last stated pertaining to a post I put up about retrospect records they were reissueing the Rock boulevard cd.Dan you replied it was a reissue I believe. However if you check out the bottom of this ebay auction the seller states it's an original cd not cdr.I'm I mistaking what he's saying,or am I being mislead.Your input would be appreciated.here is the ebay item....

  5. Just want to say i am sorry about this trade going bad. I hope we can work something out so you don't feel "chipped". You have been more than understanding about this and i really appreciate it. If the post office does'nt find the CD, i will "definately" work something out with you to satisfy you.

P.S I decided to post this publicly so you would know i really do care about this problem.  Thanks for your patience.

    KING

    Hi King,

I appreicate all the help you've been able to give me to try and find out want happened to it as well. Let me also say what a class act you have been with this because you could've just said there was nothing you could. No hard feelings what so ever and would be more than happy to trade with you again. :)

    Take care,

    Lawrence

I will vouch for king as he has been an excellent trader. He's been very generous all the time.relivinthe80s also has been kind to me.Glad to see all will be well. That's the po for you, that's hard to say as I work for them

  6. With at least 50 bands currently selling their discs as cdr's on various sites (including Dan at one point) , I'm trying to figure out how it matters that Sam is doing the same thing.  Are you going to find bands like Mistreated , Cobra Dane , Atomik Cocktail , Hyde or Buster Cherry anywhere else on cd?  I didn't think so.  Are you going to pay $1000 for Rock Boulevard or $500 for Friction?  I didn't think so either.

    Aaron,

You're misinterpreting my post. I was asking where figgy was getting his information from, when in fact Sam has had the Rock Boulevard CD on his site for a LONG time. If figgy has just now found that out now, that's one thing. No problem at all.

If, on the other hand, there's now a reissue of the reissue, that would run counter to what even Sam has said. The high price ($49.99) for this reissue was supposedly because there would only be 100 released.

I'm simply wanting more information. That's all.

Dan I was checking out the Bittersweet home page when somehow I got redirected to the retrospect site.I had heard of retrospect records but didn't know much about them.As I was browsing the site I came across the advertisement for the Rock Boulevard cd.I didn't know this was old news,I must be living under a rock. :anon:

I have no qualms about forking out $20 for a professionally produced release.

True, but we're talking about 2.5 times that amount... $49.95. That's a fair amount of money for a CDR reissue no matter how you slice it. :)

  7. Hello everyone ! Maybe there's something I can do to help.Has this guy ever used the postal service when committing any fraud? I work for the usps and have awesome ties to the postal inspectors division. If he has used the postal service when committing fraud he can be charged with a federal felony crime. This type of crime has a mandated prison time.So if anyone knows where fraud was involved contact me and let me know.I've been involved in two cases recently in which both times the individual has gone to a federal prison for their crimes.

  8. Well here is yet another jackass to avoid.......His Ebay Username is:

    sfgodfather

and he lives in Sheridan,Ar. .......this guy is unbelievable.......I won his ebay auction for a Copy of Ratt-EP(Timecoast Pressing)........He had the whole spill in the description about how it was mint and how rare it was etc.......So i ended up winning it for $31 plus shipping.....I paid immediately and within a couple of days i had the cd in my mailbox........Well when i opened the package, well that is where all the trouble started........What i found was the orig. cd in a black slimline case, scratched all to hell......I was like oh hell no........So i emailed him, well the reply i got was totally uncalled for, he proceeded to more or less go off, he says that his listing said nothing about coming with the inserts etc.......My reply was, it didn't say they were not included either.........So i filed a complaint with Paypal, well 45 days later paypal finds in my favor and i returned to cd to this jackoff.......He proceeds to leave me a negative feedback saying i kept the cd and the money......Well i got a good laugh and replied to his feedback with the tracking number, showing where it had been returned showing him to be the liar that he was and is.....................So all in all avoid this guy because he will rip you off, i was only lucky that paypal found in my favor.........

    Later

    Lon

Lonnie this guy sounds like an asshole to me.He deserves to be burned to the stake.May his body and soul burn in hell ! BURN!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's give him a six gun salute :2up::2up::2up:

  9. Hey Tim ! I think this guy you speak of might be bullshitting you.I'm from the lakeworth area in Florida about a half hour away from Hollywood. The storms never touched us here.We had very little effects from it ( a little rain and clouds is about the extent of it)If you like I could head over there and really check it out for you.I know what the storms can do as we have had quite a few of them the last couple of years that we've had to bare down for,but it pisses me off when people try this type of thing because there are people that really need help because the storm so effected them.Hell in the post office where I work we're even bringing in postal workers from louisiana to temporarily work in florida to try and help them out and bring a small sense of normalcy back to their lives if that makes any sense

Anyways if I can help you out let me know.Oh btw let's work something out on those covers we spoke about.:lame:

  10. I have sold cd's to Thomas and his friend Gerry, (no shit, Tom and Gerry), on several occasions on ebay, they won some of my auctions, and were some what slow to pay, but did pay and all was ok....now that is alot different than a trade, in a trade you have no ebay or paypal to fall back on, so I would recommend being cautious, I probably would not send my items first, unless you find someone who has actually traded with him successfully, that is about all I know on him.......good luck!

    Michael

Hello everyone! Does anyone out there in HH land know a person named Thomas Ringseis? He's from Austria and wants to trade with me but I've never heard of him.He inniated the trade but wants me to send him the cds first.Normally this is not a problem but seeing he's from another country and never trading with him before, was wondering if someone would give him a good recommendation so I could send him the cds and begin the trade. This is NOT to say anything bad about him just taking percautions here.     dolphins13magic@aol.com

                           thanks to all

Thanks Michael . I kind of thought the same thing but don't want to offend him.He says he's been ripped off before with people not sending his cds,but the thing is i have plenty of people leaving positive postings in the good/bad traders forum.Seeing that i don't have even one negative posting I think he should send his first.I appreciate your input ! :agree:
