  1. I am really, really proud of this release! I personally think it is the BEST sounding hard rock / melodic metal recording over 20 years of age ever released for the first time. "No Retreat" is NOT a collection of studio demos. It had an enormous budget for an independent recording in 1989 and had some very talented people behind the controls. I suppose you will have to hear it for yourself from the CD rather than from an MP3 on your computer, but what you hear above is only meant to be a teaser. Btw, thanks Dan for posting this! Dan has heard the entire album and will be posting some additional mp3's sometime down the road.

Anyway, I thought I would answer a couple of the questions from the posts above:

    1. Why European bonus tracks? Answer: Because we are trying to increase sales. This is not uncommon at all for a label to do this. Despite strong support from European media, online retailers are saying our sales have not been all that good. Eonian is printing a limited quantity of CD's with three bonus tracks. Once they are gone, they will not be reprinted. The three tracks are well worth it.

    2. A second title to be released at same time as Youngblood? Answer: No. This is it. I plan to devote my attention to promoting this CD and hope for strong sales.

    3. Too many people in this band? Answer: Seriously?

Anyway, I think this will be one of the best CD's you buy all year. Dan has heard the whole thing and think he would agree that the production is killer and that this sounds nothing like a recording from 23 years ago.

We are also about to announce a big, big release ...so stay tuned. It will include a few of the biggest names of the late 80's and early 90's.

Thanks for tuning into Eonian titles.

  2. Steve - I wish you all the best my friend but Koch is an absolute nightmare and a complete waste of time and money. ManicEgo knows what he is talking about. Any deals where you have to WAIT to get paid is a BAD one. Just some advice Steve.

I appreciate all of the advice ...I truly do. However ...without disclosing the all the facts of what we are doing with Koch ...it is not nearly as bad as what you guys think. It is on a much smaller scale and way less constraints. I see where you are coming from …wanting to get paid right away, but one of our goals was to put our CD’s in stores worldwide (mostly small mom and pop stores and a handful of big mailorder stores). We keep our numbers reasonable so that we do not get stuck with excess inventory, and we will get paid quarterly which I am fine with this. Also, I have some great advisors that I am working with and trust. As we all know …we will all do business a little differently and that is totally cool with me. Bottom line ...we hope everyone loves the product Eonian puts out. Anyway, thanks for the advice. Talk to you soon. ~ Steve :guitbannana:

    Sounds good.

Sam ...any notible releases coming out soon? ~ Steve :banger:

  4. >> I will normally not respond to statements like this, but this one I could not resist. I also do not want to sound like a "dick" but you obviously know the record industry better than the rest of us. I think these message boards are cool to talk about what's new, what good, etc., but there seems to be just one or two of people here that always seem to have the record industry all figured out and can obviously do things better than the ones who are actually doing it. Do you know anything about distribution? How about Koch Entertainment? You know ...it would be really easy to just make these CD's available on our website and on one or two online stores, but we want the best exposure for the bands and the label and signing with Koch is a big deal. If it means pushing things back to do things right ...then damn skippy. :headbanger: <<

You and I have spoken on the phone Stephen. Yes, as a matter of fact I know quite a lot about distribution, having been with ADA (Warner Bros) and well, Navarre (now E1 / Koch - the same deal you have, only I had one stepping stone cut out of the path) - for over a decade. I know how they operate, I know all about the "mysterious chargebacks" that come flying at you, and about the "buy ins" to Best Buy, Transworld and the like. I know what it costs to take a 'cut" in the Super D book. I know all about the fact that you (just as a for instance) are going to be paid LAST in the chain of command and how your first royalty cheque most likely WON'T happen until the third quarter of your agreement (and that's if you're lucky). Yes, Koch is a big deal (they also just laid off 25 employees I do believe) but you're a small company (not a slag, it's reality). Koch has a roster of some 500+ collective labels - 60% of which have been turning some sort of profit for them over the past decade. You're brand new and I doubt you have $100,000 to spend on each release (like Compendia, Sheridan Square, Bar None, Schanchie and some others have) so you're going to be one of the low men on the totem pole. I know exactly how your deal works and I'm telling you, in a year you're very likely going to have a major "what the fuck?!?!?!!!!" moment. Do I hope that you do? No, I don't want anyone to. I hope you sell 50,000 albums this year. Do I know "everything" about the music business? Of course not but I've been in it for over 20 years and it's the only real job I've ever had so I think I've learned a little bit along the way.

Do you know who Michael Rosenberg is? He took me to lunch - not once but twice. I've also had lunch with Bob Pickering - wonderful person - I'm sure you've at least spoken to him.

    Good luck. I mean it.

Thanks for the reply ...Dan e-mailed me and told me that I may have taken your quote too personally ...I probably did. He also told me that you did indeed know what you were talking about and all of what you said is familiar to me. Also, yes ...we did chat on the phone once ...right as I was getting the label started. All of what you said is familiar other than I have not experenced the "what the f**k" yet ...LOL!! Right now, Koch has been great to work with and is getting our product in some stores that otherwise we would not. E-mail me at rockshop@eonianrecords.com and let's chat. I am always learning.

  5. >> Due to an agreement with Koch Entertainment <<

Not being a dick or anything here but I can see nothing good coming from this deal. Prepare for headache on top of headache.

If you go to our website ...we are no longer putting "guesses" on when CD's will be released. The dates will only be posted after the masters and art have been submitted to our distributors and the titles are being sold to stores. As my buddy Jim said ...the first batch will be available on March 19th. Everything has been sent to press and we are ready to finally launch this new label.

    We hope you all enjoy!

  6. when do these actually get released?

Go to www.EonianRecords.com. Each band has their own page and most have a scheduled release date as well. For the most part, we will release between two and four CD's a month with those numbers increasing heading into 2010. Stay tuned as Dan and I are working something out for the loyal Heavy Harmonies visitors. Dan will let you all know the details shortly. Feel free to e-mail me with questions.

  7. Not to stir up any shit, but I thought Bad Attitude was signed to SunCity...I just ordered their cd a few days ago.

A buddy of mine told me there was already a question regarding the two different bands with same name of BAD ATTITUDE. David (SunCity) and myself chatted about this months ago and we decided that Eonian's BAD ATTITUDE will not be released until late 2009. We could not help that there were two talented bands with the same name, but trust me ...they sound nothing alike. I think you will enjoy both bands, as I have SunCity's release as well ...GREAT stuff!

  8. Greetings everyone,

You will have to forgive me, but I have never spent much on message boards. I have known several of you for a good while, and it was not until recently that a couple of friends told me that many have been asking questions about this new label.

I will do my best to answer any questions you might have ...so please feel free to fire away.

First, I am a husband of 10 years, and a father of a crazy six year old daughter. I am a Marketing Director for Habitat for Humanity during the day and spend probably 30 to 40 hours a week and on the weekends running a new record label called Eonian Records.

For those of you who want to know what Eonian mean:

It comes from the word "Eon" which means "An immeasurably long period of time." This in our case is the Hair Metal era.

I can talk about the label's staff, currently signed artists, new artists that we have not yet announced, how our release schedule is coming along, as well as some confirmed released dates, our distribution deal with Chavis Records, digital downloads on over 50 sites, our art direction, recordings, etc. Anything you are curious about, just ask and I will do my best to answer them in a timely manner.

I also wanted to let you know that David (Sun City), Sam (Retrospect) and I, Stephen (Eonian) exchanged a few e-mails late into the morning to not take cheap shots at each other on message boards, as well as respect who we are all working to sign. There are many great unsigned artists out there, and all three of us have one very common goal and that is to release them to you, the music fans.

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself and open things up to questions. I will try and make regular stops to post some announcements to keep everyone updated, but also know that our PR staff has been working hard to reach out to hundreds of magazines, webzines, and radio stations ...so you should be seeing a lot of us coming in early 2009.

    Thanks.

    Stephen
