Gregg Rolie, co-founder of two multi-platinum super groups, Santana and Journey, makes a unique solo appearance on Friday, September 30th at Poor David's Pub in Dallas. This special performance is in celebration of his new solo EP, "Five Days". Gregg, along with his special guest, Austin blues guitarist Alan Haynes, will be playing selections from the new EP along with many old favorites. He'll share stories from his 40-plus year career and answer questions from the audience during the show. After his performance, there will be a meet-and-greet with the audience and Gregg will be available for pictures and autographs.

Gregg Rolie is the voice behind the classic Santana hits "Black Magic Woman", "Evil Ways", and "Oye Como Va". In 1998, this world-class musician, writer, producer was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as the lead vocalist of the Santana band. After four albums with Santana, Gregg joined a new band in 1973 with ex-Santana guitarist Neal Schon - Journey. As Journey's keyboardist, lead vocalist and co-lead vocalist throughout the rest of the 70's, Gregg helped co-write and produce that band's first seven albums. "Feeling That Way", "Anytime", and "Just The Same Way" were all memorable songs from that period of Gregg's career.

Just released in 2011, "Five Days" is Gregg’s latest EP/CD consisting of six songs with Gregg playing acoustic piano and singing live. He recorded these tracks in his living room on the piano given to him by his father in the early days of Santana, and as Gregg says, “it’s from my house to yours”. He gives beautiful new renditions of two classic hits that he sang as the lead singer in Santana – “Black Magic Woman” and Journey – “Anytime” – as well as four new songs, his own compositions through solo voice and piano. Recently featured on the cover of the UK’s Keyboard Player magazine, Rolie is a renowned Hammond B3 player, celebrated for his gritty and intense performances. Up close, personal and intimate, this show will feature a side of Gregg that all fans should get to know.

  2. I am working with the Dallas Chapter of Flashes of Hope, a nonprofit organization that changes the way children with cancer and other life threatening illnesses see themselves through the gift of photography and raises money for pediatric cancer research. The Director of the Dallas Chapter and I have combined our efforts along with Rik Emmett to make this upcoming performance a benefit concert to raise funds for Flashes of Hope/Dallas. There will be a raffle with several prizes to be announced soon.

All of the reserved seats are SOLD OUT and general admission is selling very well. Purchase your tickets today before the show becomes a sell out.

  5. May 9, 2009, Saturday

    Poor David's Pub

    Randy Jackson Acoustic Show

    Special Guest: Terry Brock

    1313 South Lamar Street

    Dallas, TX 75215

    (214) 565-1295

    Doors at 7:00 pm

    Show starts at 8:00 pm

    www.poordavidspub.com

Tickets are General Admission - $20 in advance / $25 at the door

Age limit is 18 years or older unless accompanied by parent or guardian.

Terry will start the show around 8 pm and perform for about 45 minutes. Randy should get started around 9 pm and will probably go for about 3 hours, with a short intermission mixed in there somewhere. Then, at the end of the evening, Terry and Randy will perform several songs together...in the past they have done The Eagles, Rod Stewart, The Rolling Stones, Bad Company, even a couple of songs by The Sign, which I consider a rare treat. Very spontaneous, these guys would probably take suggestions from the audience and play it if they know it.

I should have tickets designed and printed with the next couple of weeks for those who would like to purchase in advance. We could do transactions either through the mail or in person if you are in the North Dallas, Plano, Frisco, McKinney part of town. I hope to be able to sell enough tickets in advance to cover some of my initial expenses toward the show, so any help in that regard is very much appreciated as always.

Thanks again everyone...and I look forward to seeing you at the show in May!

    Don

  8. Can't say I really have. I met Way Cool Jr. at Rocklahoma, but she's more of a Sleaze Roxx person. I'm more than likely going to this years fest so if anyone else decides to go please let me know. I'm sure we can meet up there. Some of you went and didn't let me know or else we could have met up last year. If not for Rocklahoma I probably wouldn't have a chance to meet any of ya.

I still find it strange that Tim lives in T-town and I've yet to meet him. Ah well, that's just the way it goes.

    Jacob M,

I will be at Rocklahoma on Sunday...most likely at the merchandise table for Zebra...
