Very nice picks Gary, your favourite after UFO, is that classic Schenker era or up to date?

Mostly the classic Schenker era...that's the stuff I first got into first. Also really like the Paul Chapman albums, and even Misdemeanor with Atomik Tommy M. Can't say that the albums with Vinnie Moore do too much for me though. I guess I still think of him as one of those Shrapnel guys from the 80's.

  3. A little off topic, but one time I bought UFO's Phenomenon cd at a local store....sealed. When I opened it there was no cd in the case. I wasn't to sure if they would believe me when I asked for a replacement. but they did without any questions so no bidg deal.

One other time I got a cd from the same store that had a blue ink spot on it and it wouldn't play.

Never got any cracked ones though.

  4. A buddy of mine got me into Riot when Fire Down Under came out. I still think that was their best, but have liked all of their line ups. One I haven't seen mentioned here is Restless Breed with the great Rhett Forrester. A little more "bluesy" but some great songs and raw energy.

I would also rate Privilege of Power and Brethern of the Long House very highly. I would also like to say that I think Riot were one of the few bands that were able to change singers/styles over the years and still release high quality music. They never seemed like they were jumping on bandwagons or trying to be something they were not. Mark Reale has got to be one of the most underrated guitarists around.

  5. Van Halen - Diver Down...little more than cover songs, joke songs, and a few instrumental bits. What an absolutely lazy record after the first four mighty albums. I think this was the beginning of the end for Roth and the others. Happy Trails, Big Bad Bill, etc...you could see his Vegas lounge act already starting to creep into the band.

Agree with everyone who also mentioned VH-III. Considering Cherone's work on the early Extreme albums, this should have been a match made in heaven and I was really looking forward to it. Complete disaster IMO.

Def Leppard- Hysteria. I loved Pyromania. Almost cried when I saw the video for Women on MTV. I still can't understand why that album's so revered. It has some of the worst lyrics I've ever heard and the most ridiculous song titles ....Pour Some Sugar, Armaggedon It, Don't Shoot Shotgun, etc...what a complete joke. And the whole thing sounds like it was recorded by computers instead of real people.

Of course there are millions who disagreed with me, so there ya go.

  6. "Ice Cream Man" on Van Halen's debut. A kick ass album ruined with a stupid joke song tacked onto the end... It would have fit perfectly on Diver Down however.

"Carrie" on Europe's Final Countdown. I hate this song with a passion...one of the worst 80's power ballads ever stuck right in the middle of an otherwise fine album.

  7. Another good seller that's no longer around is Buccaneer Records. I believe they were located in Maryland, and always had an ad in Goldmine Magazine. Very friendly people. Always received my order within a week.

Another good online store I've used is CDConnection. You can get a lot of back catalogue items cheap there. I've never had any problems and have ordered dozens of cds from them

  8. The most amazing thing about this show and all reality shows is that there are people willing to spend their hard earned free time watching them....

Agree 100%. Can't stand any of these shows. My wife watches as many as possible-Survivor, Next Top Model, etc, etc.........I have to leave the room when they come on. Everytime I hear the word "alliance" I just want to puncture my eardrums :hammer:

  9. Denis from Sentinel Steel is the man... he's got the good stuff...

I second that! Absolute top-notch all over!

Just received my first order from Sentinel Steel. What fantastic service---placed the order on a Thursday and received it the next Monday. They were the 2 Sacred Rite cds from their own label. Great packaging, plus he threw in mini posters of the album artwork.

All vendors, ebayers, etc... should take a lesson from Sentinel Steel about customer service.

  10. If you were a true fan you would be happy and bow down and be grateful that someone is making the effort and the self-sacrifice to take the time to make this music available to the masses. You're nothing but a "detractor".

    </SARCASM>

No one believes the hogwash that Sam/Retrospect isn't the party behind all of the Time Warp/Rock-It "reissues". Unfirtunately, the reality is that at the end of the day, it really doesn't matter how much evidence you have, because unless an aggrieved party with deep pockets or the Federal authorities (unlikely) press the matter, he's free to do what he wants. Folks bringing up the illegal bootlegging here are just spitting into the wind.

    *shrug*

    -Dan

P.S. Just because it was a CDR does *NOT* mean that some enterprising soul *cough* hasn't had a couple hundred silver pressed, in which case customers will never be the wiser...

Exactly. We all know the scam being pulled here. Whats weird is when I recieved my "Time Warp" DRIVER CD from VegasCD's (I knew I was getting a bootleg but was real curious about the quality) it came from someone in RHODE ISLAND.
