Justin, this was a big promoter who has previously bought out some great bands.....not some cashed up fan boy whose Great Uncle Harold kicked the bucket
So if the big/experienced guys are losing money then....
-
Which promotor brought out Winger & Ratt?
Can't recall sorry Justin but I would say that those bands have a bigger fan base down here than Crown Of Thorns etc.
But who knows if this was a success financially or not?
Last year a well known band came out to play Bris/Syd/Melb....great crowds everywhere but the promoter still lost money.
I can only speak for myself, but all the praise from concert goers ain't gonna make me sleep better at night knowing I lost 10K and spent 3 months of my life getting band <ABC> to Australia.
-
There are so many bands that would love to come to Australia - how can we make it happen for them?
Get a solo singer (eg JSS, Eric Martin, Poley, Glenn Hughes etc) to come out and play with local musos.
These gigs don't draw the numbers to pay for flights, accomodation, meals + show fee for 4 or 5 guys.
-
Justin I can only comment on what I have seen first hand and this is not the case for everyone of these cancelled tours.
We now have guys in their 30's, 40's etc who have somehow come into some extra cash and suddenly think they are promoters.
More often than not these 'promoters' couldn't even organise a chook raffle in a poultry farm and beofore you know it, another tour has been cancelled or postponed and we're all crying in our beers (or red cordials)....
I've lowered my expectations and therefore am not disappointed when these things fall through.

why would anyone believe what I say anyway?
next time when I hear anything I'll just keep it to myself until dates are announced

So I've 4 boxes of CDs that I don't listen to, these are mostly for trade and equate to 1000 or so CDs. A couple of years ago I told the missus that I was trading and selling them... which was true except that now 1 of those 4 boxes has some kickass CDs I want to keep (there is no more room in my CD racks). On top of that I just realised that in the back room there is a CD rack that holds 200 CDs... this used to have PS2 games etc. and has been empty for ages except that now it is half full. It's only a matter of time before she finds out... what should I do?
On top of everything else her mum babysits on Mondays which is when most of the overseas packages (trades, purchases etc. arrive). So both have seen some shocking displays and have had to drag in half a dozen packages etc. from the mailman.
It might be time to get some offsite sotrage and a PO Box?
John I'd be happy to store them for you
A friend recently transferred about 60 -70 VHS tapes to dvd and I'm holding the original tapes for him!
-
I thought Journey was up to their 4th or 5th lead singer... Fleishman, Rollie, Perry, Augeri
-
Simon Patterson also on guitar....that guy could rip it up on Hey Hey It's Saturday and I once heard him play a George Lynch tune from Sacred Groove at a guitar clinic in the late 90's.

I'd be very interested to know who's gonna be in the Roxus line up as word around Melbourne these past few years seem to point to a Roxus line up with just Juno & most of fellow melodic rockers White Widdow. White Widdow tours Europe in latter part of Sept & through October.
The cheque is in the mail hombre, I'm sure the guys appreciate your support and endless promotion

Nah sounds nothing like the Snakes In Paradise song sorry Geoff.
Will you turn into a pumpkin if you don't have it solved before midnight??
-
Are you thinking of Snakes In Paradise? Similar title, but different song.

The coolest thing about Bonrud for me is that Steve Wiebe was their drummer!
Respect!
