Backed on Kal. Damn I wish he'd come out of retirement or from wherever he is.

I'd love for a new Lion or Bad Moon Rising disc but I have the feeling with Doug being in Whitesnake it's never gonna happen.

Nice one, I was starting to think I was the only Kal Swan fan on here. He has such a fantastic, distinctive voice.

Have you heard the Tytan album? It's very good.

Seems like he has disappeared since about 2001. Really hope he turns up in a band soon.

BTW, never realised he was Scottish!

He's Scottish? I thought he was English.

I have heard the Tytan and yes it's solid but not anything compared to BMR or Lion.

That last BMR disc was from 1997 and I don't know what he's done since. Doug did Burning Rain back 9-10 years ago with Ian Mayo of BMR and Keith St. John but Kal's been silent for years. I'd love a solo disc or anything from him as long as it rocks.

Sebastian Bach

What a splendid list from this guy! Aside from a couple of one-off's like the guy from Matador, for instance, I think I've covered it quite well, keeping it to a bare minimum. :)

I don't deny that these are all good vocalist, but there are some very long lists here. I'm just wondering how many of these vocalists make you want to rush out and buy an album? Even if you know very little about it, you really want the CD just because of the singer.

For me, I can only say that:

Kal Swan

Kelly Keeling

Robin McAuley and

Paul Shortino

would have that effect. I look out for a few others, but these are the only ones that immediately set me on the CD trail. Mike Tramp would have been in that list years ago, but I just can't get on with his solo stuff, to me it seems really soft compared to White Lion with far inferior songs.

Nice thread.

Here's my list of vocalists who i can rely on.

Kelly Hanson

Jeff Scott Soto

David Coverdale

Matt Alfonzetti

Jorn Lande

Jimi Jamison

Sebastian Bach

Mark/Marcie/Wang Free

Gary Hughes

Lou Gramm

Robert Mason

Paul Laine

Russell Allen

To me, quality vocals are very important.

I can quite easily listen to a song with great vocals but not so great music, however, even if a song has absolutely kick ass music, if the vocals are terrible then it spoils it for me.

There's some great classic bands out there such as "Accept", that i just can't handle due to the vocals (except "Eat the Heat", of course).
