The Big 4 of HH Genres

Cinderella should fit into 1 of these categories.

Rush also

If there was a prog metal category then Rush is a shoe in....that is the problem with rock, hard rock and metal, their are so many categories and sub-categories that you can put bands into and then there is the fact that many bands crossover between genres making almost impossible to put just 4 bands into a single category.....

Prog pre 1981 Big 4 = Yes, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Rush

Prog post 1981 Big 4 = Marillion, Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree, Tool

Good call on "Marillion". I'll also add "Hawkwind".

This clip was the first time I'd heard of either of those bands.

Only the Aussies and Brits will recognize this.

As a wise man once said,...

Pre 1981 I would replace Genesis with ELP

Post 1981 I would specify Marillion with Fish.Once he left the band went downhill

This is such an impossible task, but I reckon, when it comes to Sleaze/Glam, these guys deserve a mention.

Pioneers!

Glam Rock is different to Glam Metal. Not the same genre at all.

Big 4 of Glam Rock = Slade, Sweet, Mott the Hoople, T. Rex

T. Rex is a great call.

Without those Glam pioneers, we may not be here today discussing it in any form.

Released a couple of amazing genre albums but mostly was not glam. Also, who would you boot out of the 4 above?
