From FB/Peter Friestedt:

Playin on 3 tracks of the New Tom Hansen album ”Matters of The Heart” - On the title track I do a kind of a Graydon style solo - Lots of fun to do ”My Lady” where Nathan East sings lead vocal and plays along with JR Robinson and myself!!! I also play the solo on ”Time to move on”. I have finished up Guitars for a New track of the band Page 99 - great track and Iots of Guitars - Bill Champlin also sings on the album and itll be released in the summer!!!

I generally trust your ears, especially when it comes to Westcoast, and I did listen to this song through my phone speakers, so maybe I should give it another try on my proper system. That said, I still think it was a fairly basic chorus and song structure, altogether. Bill sounded like he was staining a bit, too.

I also thought this was a proper, full band. Must have got the wrong idea, but I was a little confused as to why Bill sang the entire track.

I agree, Old Billy boy has sounded a bit ropey to my ears for quite a while and tbh has never been my favourite vocalist anyway and this song doesn't change my mind. This sounds pretty much like a continuation from the fab debut, although not as strong as the best tracks on that one. Really looking forward to the full album though as I am sure you are.

That is the Japanese bonus track:

12. For Imagination's Sake (Mr. Radio Pure 80s Mix)

I assumed as much. That mix sounds interesting. I might have to track down a Japanese pressing.

The entire album is solid, but “The Only Thing That Matters” is Yacht Rock perfection! One of my favorite songs of 2022 so far. 😎

*Yes, this was already posted above, but I’m re-posting to highlight how f’n good it is 😜
