HAIRY GROUPIES – Glamnization (2021)

HAIRY GROUPIES - Glamnization (2021) full
various sources:

Take a look at the album artwork. Take a look at the album title. And take a look at the band’s name. That’s it; all that perfectly resume what you’ll find in HAIRY GROUPIES new album “Glamnization“.

However there’s something different from this central Europe 4-piece: while they play ’80s-style glammy L.A melodic hard rock, they do so with a modern, fresh sound and production courtesy of skilled Dennis Ward (Sunstorm, Pink Cream 69), who did the whole recording including mix and master.

And there’s a more unusual thing for this type of bands/genre; lead singer is a female. Jackie Daniels luxury vocals are one of the winning cards of “Glamnization”.
The only bad thing here is the band’s name, but musically the performances, the songs and the sound rocks greatly.

Formed in 2013, since then Hairy Groupies completed several seasonal tours where they earned a great interest and response from the audience and event organizers, having performed at various famous Festivals and Events. The band especially interests by its own expression, image, talented girl-singer, their own songs, energy and, last but not least, pyrotechnic effects on their live performances directed by its own Stage Crew.

After a successful debut EP, Hairy Groupies recorded this long play debut “Glamnization”. They were looking for a big, polished sound and Dennis Ward was chosen for production & mix.

Hairy Groupies take the US 80s glam metal as primal focus on songs like ‘So Alive’, ‘Illusory Man’, ‘The Guard’ however put their own vision on many others expanding the sonic palette.

Each one bears the varied influences of the band members and exudes simple, rockin’ appeal, as well as a cool attitude.

Highly Recommended

Not as bad as I thought it was going to be, to be fair. It's actually a pretty solid album, but missing a killer cut or two. Okay release.

ha ha terrible name but actually those 2 songs are solid.

Might give it a flick through if it's on Spotify and see if there's any keepers.

Have to say over the past few years I've struggled with female fronted bands - only Halestorm & Chez Kane and stayed in rotation

It's tough for me as well. This don't sound bad though.
