is it me or does the production sound rough on this? The last 2 albums sounded amazing but this sounds noticeably worse to me.

I agree. It's especially noticeable on True Believer.

I don't have an issue with it though. Yet another album's worth of songs with the ultra-polished sound would make it a little samey, imo.

ha ha thats one way to look at it.

yeah the last 2 albums were brilliantly produced, let's make this one sound a bit rough and shit to break it up a bit 😉

Who engineered this album? I find it hard to believe anyone could make Lars sound this bad. The rest of the band does not sound good either. I could not make it through the entire album but what I did hear sounds terrible. I think Lars is great, one of the best singers around right now but he needs to find a group that will let him sing. I have always thought that Lionville is not the right band for Lars. Is this his first time working with ADV? That guy can kill anything that sounds good. This album is a hard pass for me.

Yeah I dunno about this one. My history with this band is that I usually go in hard with their albums and initially rate them around the high 80% mark, but without fail they always end up around 70% by the end of the year. This time I've gone straight in around the 70% mark so it'll be interesting to see if that sticks, or drops even further.

I agree the production is a bit off this time. Not a deal breaker for me, but a hinderance. Some of the songs are quite nice, but also a bit sloppy at times - particularly the end / climax to a few choruses. Will see how it plays out, but just a bit lazy at times, I thought.

I should make a separate thread for this one as I'm genuinely curious to know if other people pick stuff like this up. So, the below is basically a flawless melodic hard rock song. 3:22min of sheer perfection-

And I ignore this bit and don't let it impact my enjoyment of the song, but what they do at 3:23 almost ruins the entire song for me, lol, not actually kidding. I hate it so much - like a big Transformers / Power Rangers mega fireball inspiro moment. Absolutely destroys me. Anyway, not to this degree and not in songs this good, but I heard a couple of more discreet versions of moments like this on the Lionville album and it didn't gel well with me.
