I grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  My dad ran a local night club for a few years, so I was fortunate to see a lot of bands before I was of legal drinking age.  Not many of those bands gained fame outside of the Midwest region of the U.S.  But a few of the acts may be recognizable to some forum members.

  • Moxy Roxx - (featured Brooke Lynne (St. James) of Tyketto and Hector (Jackie) Ramos of Hericane Alice, Bangalore Choir and Bad Moon Rising)
  • Warp Drive - band leader Mark Woerpel was in an earlier version of Moxy Roxx
  • Bad Boy - featured Steve Grimm on vocals/guitar who later had a solo band as well
  • Problem Child
  • Fortress - changed their name to Eliot when they relocated to California

I thought Firehouse was from North Carolina.

Indeed; started out as White Heat in the North & South Carolina club scene. 👍

Utah doesnt have many known hair or pop metal bands, they did have a couple really killer bands though, starting with my buddy Brook's band who put out an album in 93,

Slut's Crazy

Megattack

Sojourn

Royal Bliss

Hard Knox (Psychos R Us)

Tommy Had a Vision

Stormhaven

Shadow

Loud Silence

Lixx

Cirkus

Rocket From The Crypt

The Used

Terra

Danger Alley

FireEye

i also met a kid(a man now) many years ago named Jake Rogers who was playing a one man show at the age of 15, pretty good he went onto form and sing for a killer band called Visigoth, I lost touch with him after this album but heard that Metal Blade had signed them.

So theres some, I'm sure ive left out a few, but I think by in large I got the best ones in there, none outrageously well known, and these arent just Salt Lake this is the whole state, if I think of anymore i'll let you know.

Definitely thought about Mistrust (love that spin the world cassette) along with Culprit, My Sisters Machine, Q5, Heir Apparent, Mace, Kill d Kor, Myramainz, Sato, Hello Goodbye, Shannon’s X, Red Platinum, Cherry Blonde, Seattle Trash, Momma Troll, etc etc etc.

Just didn’t want to go to left of center into more metal v glam.

Thought of a grip of more modern glam rock bands from the 90s as well with bands like Candlebox, Superdeluxe, Sweetwater (and later in life The Park Boys), Goodness. Candlebox even though on the debut there was some puffy hair I’d call them more of a rock band than glam but?

Labels. Lol.
