Platens - "Of Poetry And Silent Mastery"

Recommended Posts

Art Of Melody Music & Burning Minds Music Group are excited to announce all the details of "Of Poetry And Silent Mastery", new official studio album by Italian rock sensation, Platens. The project is the brainchild of talented vocalist, producer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Dario Grillo, who decided to continue the legacy started with the first two albums "Between Two Horizons" (Frontiers Records, 2004) and "Out Of The World" (Melodic Rock Records, 2014), both enthusiastically received by fans and critics alike.

Now, after seven years from the release of the second studio album, Platens, is finally back with its strongest effort so far: "Of Poetry And Silent Mastery". The result is a masterful blending of melodic rock sound, AOR oriented melodies and clever heavy influences, all wisely mixed together by Dario's bombastic production work.

Dario says: "'Of Poetry And Silent Mastery' shows my idea of what art should represent. We live in frenetic and schizophrenic times where everything is measured on the basis of individual performance. Music seems to have become a competitive discipline, a sort of ring in which to measure one’s artistic skills at the expense of those of others. Everything is competition, demonstration of oneself, starting from the "Talent Shows", where thousands of bands that try to emerge, sponsored by the labels as the new sensations of the moment. The personal ego has repressed and eclipsed the true meaning of music, with the direct consequence of a qualitative crushing downwards. So mediocrity becomes the benchmark of the masses, who no longer know how to distinguish gold from shit. The new album is the natural evolution of 'Out Of The World', both in terms of lyrics and sound. The structures of the songs, however, are simpler and more immediate. The production emphasizes the guitar aspect much more than the orchestral and symphonic one.  So it's a more direct and heavy metal oriented album than its predecessor".

"Of Poetry And Silent Mastery" is scheduled for release on July 23, 2021 via Art Of Melody Music / Burning Minds Music Group. A special personalized edition has been created by Outward Styles in a very limited quantity of 30 copies, and will be available exclusively on the Burning Minds Music Group's official online shop. Not sure I've ever heard anything from these guys before, but got a bit of this one in my ears. A lot of stuff I'm just really not into at all, but three really good tunes amongst the rubble. 'Easily,' 'Paralyzed' and 'Open arms' are three good slabs of melodic rock... on an album that is not strictly a melodic rock album.

    • And a small but important  update. Had an MRI scan two weeks back and just before I went in for a weeks chemo. The day I was discharged the doctor who discharged me gave me the results of the MRI scan and confirmed my feelings that the brain cancer had reduced in size, so everything it seems is going to plan.
    • I'd like to think so too, but I don't think it is. But I am always weary of what's being reported in Australian media. Are we just seeing everything from the hysterical, moronic and blown out of proportion version that the Aussie media feeds us? Or are there actually things happening outside of this country that are as hysterically panic driven as they are here? From the few other things I've heard, globally, it does seem that this variant has earned it's own little slice of worldwide panic, so I guess we'll see. This Panic First, Ask Questions Later mentality that the world has adopted is honestly an (even further) embarrassment to humanity. If I didn't have children I would confess that the time has certainly well and truly come for the human race to be nuked and made extinct. I ponder how much I hated humans in 2019. It took 40 years to build up that level of hatred. I am not even kidding to say that those 40 years of built up hatred has probably doubled, if not tripled or even quadrupled in the space of the two years since. What I think of what has become of the human race in the space of two years has no words left to describe it.
    • It is definitely flashdance. I can't unhear it now.
    • Everyone I have spoken to from cities are shitting themselves over this Omricon variant. I say to them "don't you want things to go back to normal?". But they really don't. They are loving living in a police state. I have spoken to a number of ex-prisoners as well who have similar thoughts about jail. I think a lot of people are wired to like having freedom and choice taken away from them. They enjoy having fewer options. It is bizarre to me.
    • the first song wasn't the clip I heard - this sound more promising to me https://www.facebook.com/100764135031478/posts/426269785814243/
    • mmmm. Erik great, verses great, solo typical but still good, chorus suspect.  Am I the only one who hears Flashdance in the chorus 🤔 🤣🤣🤣
    • I am not here to convince any of you the Way. I believe everyone has the means and now makes their choice as per free will. Yet , isn't it amusing (well it is to me) how fundamentalist atheists are in their certainty. And I guess that is why you are so intolerant to other beliefs. There is no room for doubt in your minds. You feel you know all the answers and that there are no mysteries outside of your understanding. Though you are just a speck upon a speck upon a speck staring at a piece of dirt on the toenail of an elephant and then believing that is the entire knowledge of the elephant. Good luck with that.
