Guess one of the positives working from home is I have more time to listen to music. Couple of months ago I decided to revisit my AOR/Hair Metal/Melodic Rock collection, feels great to spin these albums again.

Double Eclipse - Absolute classic of our genre. No doubt at all. Stunning from start to finish. Nice to hear Schon cut loose and Gioeli is in top form. One of my favourites from 1992.

On an album full of perfection I always had a soft spot for ‘I’ll Be There’. Superb track.

If anyone saw these guys back in 92 I’d love to hear their thoughts.

Awesome Japanese bonus track -

I played Ill Be there at a rock station, I thinkk I Cant Find My Way is a absolutely beautiful song, and I fucking despise ballads.

I’m okay with a ballad or 2 but I much prefer a higher ratio of rockers. Agreed it’s a stunning ballad. In The Hands Of Time ain’t half bad either.

"Love Leads the Way" is an essential track. I understand why the Japanese pressings had bonus tracks, but I don't understand why bands would elect to have some of their best songs be said bonus tracks, and ensure the majority of their fanbase would never hear them. Until years later when the internet became much more established.

The combination of "31-91" and "In the Hands of Time" is such a perfect album closer, I've sequenced "Love Leads the Way" between "Bad Taste" and "Can't Find My Way." The album flows much better, and, in my opinion, is complete.

This album hit like a thunderbolt in 1992.  I was hooked immediately, from the first few notes of "Life's a Bitch".  It's been in constant rotation for me ever since.  An absolute classic.

"Takin' Me Down" is one of THE songs of the era. I love "Hot Cherie" and "Everthing" also.

Actually, the whole album is a killer and definitely no skips required.

That's pretty awesome mate. Did you have the album at that stage? It would have been great regardless, but it would have been even better if you were already familiar with the tracks.

So PB&Jelly.

BRILLIANT album.  Right cast of characters even if their timing wasn't right as far as this genre went.

They never recaptured this glory again... a 1995(ish) follow-up with the same crew would have been awesome.

Bonus track alone makes it worth it!

    • Yeah I guess it’s a little different for physical CD collectors, but even still, stuff can happen in four weeks. In the world of streaming, especially, there could still be half a dozen notable albums to come this year. I don’t know what they could be as I keep no track at all of upcoming albums, so I never know what’s still to come, which could be anything.    I guess if you’re a meticulous planner and are fully aware of every single new release you might be interested in, and there’s no more due this year - which is probably exactly what this Brendan dude is - no harm in releasing the list.
    • She came out with in New Romantic era, like Adam and the Ants, Duran Duran Her father, Marty, had big hits in early sixties
    • I think I pretty much have my top ten list, but seeing as I have been tracking it through the year rather than leaving it to the end as normal, I am not sure it will change being that I don't really have more purchases lined up. But being that this year I have really gone wild on filling back catalogue gaps, I may pick up something I missed from this year and that will upset the apple cart ha ha
    • Whoah this is catchy!
    • Calling for you, Emaheeval & Gone bad on the debut Widowmaker album were all Desperado songs. Of course the Widowmaker debut was released before Desperado's album finally got a release even though it was recorded after. The thing that always made me laugh was that when it was first released as Bloodied but unbowed with three extra tracks to what was the original planned tracklist, I bought it from Dee Sniders website, so was fully endorsed by Dee. But years later when Deadline released it under its original name, Ace, without the three extra songs, Dee claimed it had never been released before ... selective memory?

    • Did not have "liking an album from The Offspring" on my 2024 bingo card, but there we are. Not sure if it's pop, punk, or something else... catchy though.
    • No no no!  Worst thing in the 80s (musicwise), Modern Talking.
    • Really liking this one bar the Journey cover, which whilst not terrible , doesn’t really do a lot for me. The rest though is rather excellent
