I like him but hate his bands

Is their an artist (singer/guitarist, etc) who you like a lot but every band they've been in has been a disappointment?

I was thinking Vivian Campbell. He's a killer guitarist. His tone and style is great. But I don't think I like a single band he's been in except Dio.

He replaced Steve Clark in Def Leppard and they got very poor/weak.

Shadow King bored me to tears. Big disappointment considering Lou Gramm was singing on it.

Riverdogs albums are all bog average stuff. A nope for me!

Last In Line? Puhleeze. Without RJD, it sounds contrived and just doesn't at all remind me of Dio.

IDK bout this Russ, cause generally at least 4 me, I don hear many bands I dont like that I like a particular element of them, if I like something about them, I generally like them, especially vocalists, theres plenty of bands that I hear that I think, these guys would be fucking tits with a diff singer, but I cant think of anything to answer this question.

The new "The End Machine" album is a return to that early Lynch Mob vibe and the best thing he's done in years IMO.
