Lebrock mentioned on these pages and absolutely love it. I've then noticed a fair few other posts about Synthwave.

What's worth listening to of this genre?

I would say the top three, though, are The Midnight, Timecop1983, and FM-84.

If Forêt de Vin were still a thing, they'd likely be my favourite. They wrote a Christmas song, which is actually amazing, and is their best song, unfortunately. Unfortunate because I can only bring myself to listen to it around Christmas.

tbh nothing in this thread will come close to Lebrock - I've been through everything looking for another band which has that same level of intensity / guitar content. Doesn't exist.

I do love the Platforms album from 2020 though

Most I know are already listed, but the 2 Gunship discs are great. My other  faves are the Kristine, Lebrock, At 1980. FM-84 and The Midnight.

My faves are:

LeBrock of course, these guys have that urgent type of sound I like so much.

FM 84/Ollie Wride- Love them, especially Ollies voice, soulful and with style.

The Midnight - probably best of the bunch when it comes to instrumental tunes.

Michael Oakley - Another great vocalist with some very AOR influenced tunes.

Kristine - Another one of my faves.

At 1980

Bad dreamers

Timecop 1983

Give Young Medicine a listen I posted their new song Winter Soldier in the thread below.

Rising synthwave rockers Young Medicine pull the best from diverse genres to build a carefully constructed music identity that defies simple categorization. Thumping double-bass beats and crunchy guitar riffs hammer out hard-hitting rhythms while chorus lines partner with sparkling retro synth tones for a stunning mix of audio ideas. If synthwave and metal got together and started a boy band, the result might sound something like Young Medicine, who have put themselves on the map as pioneers for a new era by bringing rockstar swagger to the retrowave movement.

Thanks for this post - a few sneaky ones there I hadn't heard that I quite enjoyed. Roxi Drive and Kidburn, for example, were new to me. :)

Yep, that was one that stood out for me too. And if I recall, both of these artists had 2018 releases as well. Sad it took me so long to latch on, but happy I'm on board now.
