POWER UP is the long awaited new album from AC/DC, and the band’s 17th studio album. For POWER UP, the band reunited with producer Brendan O’Brien who helmed the double-platinum Black Ice in 2008 and the gold Rock Or Bust in 2014. Charged up for the next decade, AC/DC cut twelve new tracks for the album, proudly maintaining their signature sound and all of its powerful hallmarks.

POWER UP was announced with the release of the album’s first single, “Shot In The Dark,” and features the lineup of Angus Young [lead guitar], Brian Johnson [lead vocals], Cliff Williams [bass guitar], Phil Rudd [drums], and Stevie Young [rhythm guitar] firing on all cylinders once again.

Tracklist:
1. Realize
2. Rejection
3. Shot in the Dark
4. Through the Mists of Time
5. Kick You When You're Down
6. Witch's Spell
7. Demon Fire
8. Wild Reputation
9. No Man's Land
10. Systems Down
11. Money Shot
12. Code Red

Not gunna lie, doesn't sound like they've skipped a beat. Same old AC/DC... and that's not a bad thing.

Sounds like classic AC/DC to me.

They definitely have a sound and I applaud them for embracing it.  As opposed to say Def Leppard who has a signature sound but seems to fight it.

What would Def Leppard's "signature sound" be?  Cuz their two biggest albums, Pyromania and Hysteria, don't sound alike.

They definitely had a signature sound. Whether it was a song off High N Dry or a song off Adrenalize, you knew it was Def Lep.

Exactly. You know what you're getting from AC/DC; the same thing we've come to love for the past 40+ years.

I thought Brian Johnson was shot vocally. His voice was gradually degrading and it was becoming noticeable, but this is superb. He sounds like he did in his prime. It makes sense that if you have a severe hearing issue that it would affect your voice, but it looks like maybe the hearing surgery or whatever he had has made a difference.

That opening riff instantly brings a familiar smile.

Yes one finds themselves checking to see if they accidentally put on one of their last 10 Cd's, I know what your saying, familiar is an overly kind way of putting it, not the word I would use, LOL.

When I first heard this on YouTube someone mentioned that the chorus sounds like "I shot the dog" and now that is all I can hear him sing dammit.

Not quite as good as the first track; somewhat boring.

Yeah, I got the same impression.

    • going to play today at some point. expecting a cheesefest but in a good way
    • I've never seen that before on Spotify - says full album available soon. it's not clear if they've held in back or there's been an error uploading it
    • From what I understand, Pete and Steve are extremely pissed at Mark "Gus" Scott. https://www.madrock1025.com/trixter-members-go-public-with-feud/ In an argument that’s gone uncomfortably public, Trixter drummer Mark “Gus” Scott has fired back at his disgruntled bandmates, claiming he only wants what’s best for the group. The feud began when Steve Brown and P.J. Farley told interviewers Scott was on “the sh*t list beyond belief,” comparing him to disobedient dog. Now, in a new interview, Scott says the band’s problems go well beyond just one dissenting member. “I don’t know if the ‘bad dog’ is the best analogy and the best manner in which to visualize what’s happened with Trixter,” he says. “I think there’s been different ideologies within the band for a very, very long time. We’ve been together over 30 years. So I think there’s always been — I don’t wanna say a ‘rift,’ but more recently, if there was a rift, it was certainly becoming more and more exponentially grown.” While not naming names, Scott says his issues are with the band’s “leadership,” adding he refuses to be “led by ignorance.” Ouch. How long will it be before Trixter either calls it quits or parts ways with Scott? Have the members of Trixter been together too long?
    • What's the story there? I recall a couple videos between the two "new" albums that portrayed them all as good buddies.
    • A magnificent hidden gem from Ted Poley.
    • Ok, so they did shoot a video for "Breakdown." I fucking love this song!!
    • New hard rock from Maryland:
    • Here's a few from artists not included on your list yet. I think they all qualify, we'll see. I've saved the best for last. A Legendary Aussie artist covering a Legendary Aussie band. The song is about the Vietnam War. Very profound.
