I'd be interested to hear popular songs from other Countries that are considered iconic. Songs that people from other Countries may not be aware of. Whether in English or not. The sort of song that everyone in your Country knows and loves. Here's five Aussie tracks, although this only scratches the surface.

Yeah, they're probably more appropriate than the ones I chose.

Bryan Adams - Summer of 69

This is probably the song of Canada. Everyone knows it. Even all of you.

Oh the horror, but:

Aqua - Barbie Girl

Would be more interesting, to hear about songs that everyone in your country knows, but only few foreigners know about.

"Turn Back Time" is a great track.

Back in 1979 the "Victorian Football League", now the "Australian Football League", released a promotional song called "Up There Cazaly". At the time this was huge! and is still probably the Aussie Rules anthem. Roy Cazaly was a Footballer from the 1920's who was renowned for taking high marks (catches). There's a very famous photo down here of him taking a spectacular one handed grab. This is borderline Australian National Anthem material.

Divinyls - Boys in Town

The "Divinyls" are definitely an iconic Aussie band and this track is as good as it gets.

From 1981, timeless Hard Rock.

If you're not familiar with their early stuff, then do yourself a favour and check it out.

This is an interesting one. It's iconic apparently, but only in Sydney.

In Melbourne we've always been led to believe that for whatever reason Sydneysiders love this track.

Can you confirm this Geoff?

The "Models" are an iconic 80s Aussie band. When they first started in the early 80s they were full on "New Wave", but as the decade progressed, they became more of a Pop/Rock band. It's interesting that these clips are very, very different in style, but all three encompass the 80s. "Out of Mind, Out of Sight" is still played very regularly on commercial radio down here.

In 1989 their lead singer "James Freud" released a solo album, this time going for a more Hard Rock vibe.

I've always loved the single "Hurricane".
