Jimi Bell says ...
The new HOUSE OF LORDS CD, “NEW WORLD NEW EYES“ is complete. It marks the 8th release on Frontiers Records since Bj and I joined the band in 2005. The art work for the CD Cover is absolutely incredible. I’ll keep you posted on all upcoming news.

Love HOL and JC, but his weakened voice and new singing style is a total put off for me...I've struggled with the last 2-3 releases for that reason.

Me too. Not a good sign.

Their debut, Demons Down and World Upside Down are some of my all time faves.  The last couple albums were a bit of a step down for me.  And I'd agree James' vocals aren't what we've come to expect, but if the songs are there I'm still on board

Sahara is what got me into the band in the first place.  Walked into a Musicland at the mall and they were playing Sahara.  Asked the girl behind the counter who/what it was.  She gets all excited, telling me how the drummer (I think) was her boyfriend or ex-boyfriend or brother or something.  Bought the disc and been a fan ever since.

I loved the debut but was left a bit miffed at the direction on Sahara. Took me awhile to appreciate Sahara but it's one of my favorites now.

From Frontiers:

House of Lords will release their new album, "New World - New Eyes" on May 8, 2020!

“New World - New Eyes” is House Of Lords’ 10th studio album, following the well received release “Saint of the Lost Souls”. Recorded and produced by the band’s singer and mastermind, James Christian, this collection of songs has an incredible flow of up-tempo and mid-tempo rockers mixed with power ballads, which lean a bit more toward keyboards this time around, but without compromising the band's trademark sound, which is based around Jimi Bell’s guitar work.

“New World - New Eyes” is already one of the year’s most anticipated melodic rock releases and will not disappoint fans of the band or genre. James Christian's well crafted and smooth vocals bring the band's craft to new heights. Guitarist Jimi Bell is on fire and the melodic riffs throughout the album will leave you breathless. Chris Tristram on bass is more solid than ever and BJ Zampa brings a solid and powerful rhythm foundation to House of Lords.

This time, the band has cooperated with none other than Mark Spiro (Giant, Bad English, Cheap Trick, etc.) on the songwriting of most of the songs. More collaboration came via Tommy Denander, Chris Pelcer, and Richard Hymas.

House of Lords debuted in 1989 with the release of their self-titled album, a record which is still regarded as one of the best arena rock releases of the '80s. The colossal sound, the soaring vocals of James Christian, and instrumental capabilities of the band (which featured ex-Angel and Giuffria keyboardist, Gregg Giuffria, along with luminaries Lanny Cordola, Chuck Wright, and Ken Mary), were reminiscent of such frontrunners as Whitesnake, Deep Purple, and Van Halen and immediately brought the band to the attention of the mainstream music media and the masses of ‘80s hard rock fans.

With their sophomore release, “Sahara”, House of Lords had considerable radio and video chart success with their cover of Blind Faith’s “Can't Find My Way Home”. After a tour with Nelson in 1991, the group disbanded, eventually coming back together with a new lineup (featuring original members Giuffria and Christian) in 1992 with "Demon's Down". With the change in musical climate at the time, House of Lords went into hibernation until the original lineup came back together in 2000, releasing the controversial “Power and the Myth”, an album which featured a sound leaning more towards progressive hard rock with ‘70s rock influences. After a short European tour, singer James Christian decided to go back to the trademark arena rock sound of House Of Lords, putting together a new line-up with the blessing of founding member Gregg Giuffria, who opted out right before the release of “Power and the Myth”. New members Jimi Bell on guitars and B.J. Zampa on drums supplied a true powerhouse sound to the fifth studio album, “World Upside Down”, a record which caused a real stir in the hard rock and melodic rock scenes. That album was followed up by the equally impressive “Come to My Kingdom” in 2008, "Cartesian Dreams" in 2009, "Big Money" in 2011, “Precious Metal” in 2014, and “Saint of the Lost Souls” in 2017.

The band has toured relentlessly in Europe and the States in support of their releases and have now become a true staple of the hard rock scene on both continents. House Of Lords is known for superb hooks, majestic atmospheres, monumental guitar riffs, and a production to die for. All these ingredients you will find in abundance on “New World - New Eyes”!

Tracklist:
1. New World New Eyes
2. Change (What's It Gonna Take)
3. One More
4. Perfectly (You And I)
5. The Both Of Us
6. Chemical Rush
7. We're All That We Got
8. Better Off Broken
9. $5 Buck Of Gasoline
10. The Chase
11. The Summit

Not bad but just sounds like a continuation of the last few releases from these guys...missing that classic HOL sound for me unfortunately.

Yup. Sounds just like the last few releases complete with James Christian's weak vocals. Sad how far these guys have fallen.

Something about the production seems off.

That being said, I'm higher on this band than most of you seem to be, and I like the song (although the bridge is a little weak). Still eagerly awaiting the album.

IIRC the first couple singles from their last album weren't among the strongest, either.

after giving the new track a listen I see why the comments are on the critical side, song is just OK for me, and the production sounds well below their usual standards

That's a better track.not amazing but better...but still sounds empty if you know what I mean...just sounds like this track should be more solid in sound with a big thumping beat(maybe its just my speakers?)...sadly it doesn't...for me anyway...have a soft spot for HOL so ill most likely still buy it though.

Agreed. The arrangement is great but the production is missing something. Weak snare drum maybe?

Yeah, that song is missing its balls. Feels like it should have a big, thumping sound and just doesn't.

    • Well Nolan, some get pushed over the edge by mouthy entitled, thugs who don't believe they have to answer when they get caught fucking up, I spent a good part of my life in trouble, and I knew better then to disrespect, taunt, bait, or fuck with the cops, cause I knew exactly what would happen, it's no different for blacks then whites, u see all these videos of "police brutality" interesting many of them start at the moment of aggression, not the lead up to what took place to get them there, interesting huh? Why does it get serious now? Well just to throw out there, they are rioting because a scumbag pig, killed a citizen, no that's not why, cause cop was a cracker and dude was black, so going out and killing a bunch of cops, is doing the exact thing their rioting over, oh and the thugs were black and cops were white, but that's different, on top of that, killing a cop is mandatory life, and now any chance of u working something out peacefully is gone, now the cops are really gonna be on their toes, who is trying to kill them and who isn't, 2 of my brothers are police, I've done ride alongs with both of them, the bullshit they put up with is just flooring, I came away saying, I would've tore those punk motherfuckers apart, he said, we cant do that, not a job for me, I couldnt anyway cause of my fabulous record.
    • He did not just cut funding, he cut ties completely, they are ran by China, u know the ones who cooked up Corona, that's why, if u look at their statements they said exactly what China told them too, allegedly
    • I just try to support our president, I couldn't stand Obama but can gladly rattle off many things he did that I agreed with, I know shits gone haywire over here, Trump was telling the governor's of the states going up in flames that they probably oughta think about doing something, since they were seemingly watching the shit go down, and DiBlassio ordered the NYPD, possibly the best and by far the largest police Dept in the US, he told them to basically stand down, and be human targets, don't know if u saw the footage of cop being beaten, another one ran over? Now the mayor and governor of NY are at each other's throats, so Trump just said do something about it or he would, theres nothing I'm sure the people of Manhatten wanted to hear more then that
    • The line up sounds great.
    • From Frontiers: The new solo album from guitarist Josh Ramos (Hardline, The Storm, Two Fires) is a tour de force from this fiery six-stringer. Featuring guest vocals from Eric Martin (Mr. Big), Danny Vaughn (Tyketto), Harry Hess (Harem Scarem), Joe Retta (Heaven & Earth), Terry Ilous (XYZ), John Bisaha (The Babys), Tony Harnell (ex-TNT), and Tony Mills (ex-Shy, TNT), this album highlights Josh's abilities to play in the melodic rock and bluesy hard rock styles.  “My Many Sides” is Ramos’ second album as a solo artist and what a statement it is! On this album, aptly titled “My Many Sides,” Josh Ramos presents eleven songs where he offers several sides of his exquisite and melodic guitar playing. Featuring guest vocalists of the impressive caliber of Eric Martin (Mr Big), Danny Vaughn (Tyketto), Harry Hess (Harem Scarem), Joe Retta (Heaven & Earth), Terry Ilous (XYZ), John Bisaha (The Babys), Tony Harnell (ex-TNT), and the last recorded performance from the late Tony Mills (ex-Shy) and a solid rhythm section featuring Fabrizio Grossi on bass (who also produced the album) and Tony Morra on drums, the resulting album is an enjoyable and varied release, where the listener finds great hard rock songs in the style of classic Bad Company, Great White, and Heaven & Earth and more melodic moments, which of course harken back to Josh’s musical heritage in Hardline and The Storm.  Josh Ramos is a guitarist who needs virtually no introduction to discerning melodic rock fans. With a resume that includes The Storm (the band that featured former Journey members Gregg Rolie, Steve Smith, and Ross Valory), Two Fires (with Kevin Chalfant), and Hardline, everyone knows what a substantial contribution Josh has made to the music world. Tracklist:  1.  Today’s The Day (Joe Retta on vocals) 2.  Unbroken (Terry Ilous on vocals) 3.  Blameless Blue (Danny Vaughn on vocals) 4.  Immortal (Tony Harnell on vocals) 5.  Same Ol’ Fears (Joe Retta on vocals) 6.  I've Been Waiting (Harry Hess on vocals) 7.  Moving On (John Bisaha on vocals) 8.  Forefather (Eric Martin on vocals) 9.  Too Good To Be True (Joe Retta on vocals) 10.  Ceremony (Instrumental) 11.  All Over Now (Joe Retta on vocals) 12.  I'm Only Human (Tony Mills on vocals)  Line-up:  Josh Ramos: Guitars Fabrizio Grossi: Bass, Orchestration, Producer Vocals: Joe Retta, Tony Harnell, Danny Vaughn, John Bisaha, Harry Hess, Eric Martin, Terry Illous, Tony Mills Tony Morra: Drums Michael T Ross: Pianos, Keyboards Alex Alessandroni Jr: Hammond Eric Ragno: Keyboards

    • Yeah, it seems Trump supporters will never be convinced he's dome anything wrong, ever. Likewise, it seems anti Trump people will never accept that he has ever done something right. It's almost like he is a religion  Never convince anyone away from their views.
    • Who is Sambora? Did I miss something? I generally agree with all of your post. Trump, love him or hate him, has also done a bunch of other good things, which have reveived little to no credit. There are no real guidelines for a pandemic. well I'm sure tehre are now, but in the end, America did something wrong. I don't know what, but the numbers are comparatively huge to other large nations. Then the only link the virus has to the riots is that I'm sure some of the violence was born out of iso frustration and anger and what they are doing is making the virus situation worse with large close gatherings.
    • I wrote this awhile back called Tossed Salad: There is a fetish all across the land And it's not only for the gay gay man Some men that like it hard and fast They also like a tongue in their ass She was going down on me And licking on my balls Then she went down in between And then further down the hall. And my frown went upside down When her tongue turned into brown My fears were not really valid I liked when she tossed my salad. When she was licking my anus I thought she could be famous She knew just what to do To make me shoot my goo.
