Vandenberg - 2020

From blabbermouth.net:

Vandenberg is back! Or should we say: VANDENBERG are back? The man himself, Adrian Vandenberg has never really been away, but the band that carries his proud name has returned, after an absence that lasted for more than three decades VANDENBERG is very much alive again in a young, fresh and all-revised 2020 version.

Adrian Vandenberg can already look back on a rich career. He played in WHITESNAKE for over 13 years, having been part of this seminal band's most legendary lineup. He was the driving force behind MANIC EDEN and, more recently, VANDENBERG'S MOONKINGS, but equally proud he looks back on VANDENBERG, the Dutch band that put him on the map, internationally. "So many people still come up to me and speak about those glory days and the albums I've made with that band," he says.

All these compliments have inspired Adrian to bring VANDENBERG back to life, albeit in an all new lineup. Together with renowned producer Bob Marlette (ALICE COOPER, BLACK SABBATH), he is currently putting the finishing touches to a new album that will be in stores later this year. A first taste of what is to come can be heard online as of today;"Burning Heart", which you can check out below. A brand new version of the classic hit, it is sung by none other than Ronnie Romero, who first came to prominence when Ritchie Blackmore recruited him for aRAINBOW tour in 2016.

Romero's impressive vocals can be heard on all songs on the upcomingVANDENBERG album and he will also be part of the touring band. Together with Rudy Sarzo (OZZY OSBOURNE, WHITESNAKE) on bass and Brian Tichy (SLASH, OZZY OSBOURNE, FOREIGNER) on drums, the band have recorded nine all new, original songs. Backed by Koen Herfst (crowned as the best drummer of the Benelux, six times in a row) and Randy van der Elsen on bass (TANK) the band plan to hit the road, soon. Says Adrian: "First get the album done and then I want to get out there and play. We want to play this music to audiences all over the world."

About his decision to relaunch the band VANDENBERG, Adrian says: "Going with the band name VANDENBERG was a logical decision. Rock fans would know right away what they are dealing with. I felt that I wasn't done with the style of music I wrote for my band VANDENBERGat the time and wanted to pick up the thread where I left it when I joined WHITESNAKE. But to me, that would only make sense if I'd come up with a brand new, testosterone-driven version of VANDENBERG with a kick-ass, world-class lineup. VANDENBERG 2020 on steroids. So that's exactly what we did. BAM! Here I go again."

Romero adds: "To me, it's kind of a dream come true. I've followedAdrian's career since for years and he always was one of my favorite guitar players, so to work with him is nothing but amazing to me.Adrian is an exceptional musician, and it's really easy to work with him. The energy when we work together was fantastic. We had great times at the studio with our producer Bob Marlette; very exciting time.”

Marlette is equally enthusiastic. "Working with Adrian has been a real pleasure," he says. "The man is working around the clock and his well of new riffs and melodies never seems to dry. With a powerful singer such as Ronnie Romero behind the microphone, I was some true magic expecting to happen and let me tell you... it has."

In short, these guys mean business. 35 years may have passed since the final studio album "Alibi", Vandenberg 2020 sounds just as fresh, relevant and at least as HEAVY as back in the day. Fun times will revive with a brand new album, and an agenda filling up quickly with festivals and other touring plans. Or as the man himself Adrian Vandenbergputs it: "Fasten your seatbelts, VANDENBERG is here to stay."

Neither song is awful but neither is very good either. Kind of par for these guys. Dude on vocals has similarities to Steve Lee at times.

Agree with Geoff.

This one sound much like Gotthard or coreleoni.

If many bands are fronted from the same singer, they tend to sound similar.

He does sing on the Guitarist for Gotthard's side project.

Oh dear. I guess it's not awful, but there's nothing good about it either. This thing is just going to sound like another average new Gotthard record.

I'm hearing Whitesnake and Dio. Quite enjoyed the first few spins this morning.

Some of the Whitesnake similarities are a little close for comfort but I suppose he has a right to that?

Not too bad, but you can tell that they completely skimped on the production. And then throwing and yet another version of Burning Heart? How many times are they going to re-record that?

    • I LOVE this song. Love how there is a guitar solo only one minute in. Chorus at the start and the end, with verses in the middle Ian Moss sings the first two verses and then Jimmy Barnes the third Kind of can be interpreted as a good sum up of 2020 so far.
    • I just want to propose a question to anyone on here who would like to answer it, honestly, NO Cody answers, honest serious, and cogent answers are what i'd like to read, and of course as I'm the board racist, it will appear to be a racist question, but after reading you guys from other parts of the worlds remarks above, I suddenly had 1 question that blew my mind, I never really knew this, thanks for enlightening me. WHY OUT OF SO MANY RACES, ON EVERY INCH OF THE EARTH,  DOES IT SEEM LIKE THERE IS 1 RACE, WHO NO MATTER WHERE THEY ARE ON THE PLANET, SEEM TO BE VICTIMIZED, TREATED UNFAIRLY, HELD DOWN, OPPRESSED, AND DESTITUTE? IN ANY SOCIETY, LIVING WITHIN ANY OTHER RACE, I'M HONESTLY CURIOUS? ARE WE REALLY SAYING EVERY SINGLE RACE LOOKS DOWN ON 1? OR COULD IT BE ONLY 1 COMPLAINS, AND CRIES AND BITCHES, ABOUT ALL THE SAME SHIT EVERY OTHER RACE HAS TO ENDURE AS WELL?   I realize I'm coming off racist here, but I don't give a fuck, it's a legitimate question I have, I'm going to pose it on FB as well, because I am watching my country being destroyed, over something I don't believe is happening, I live here, I don't know any oppressed blacks, the ones I know, work, and make money, and take care of their family's, and really there is no difference between them and the whites, outside of their skin color, so I think this is bullshit, and the silent white majority is starting to come unhinged, just wait, eventually the quiet and true Americans are going to be pushed into a corner, and have no choice but to react, then there will be next level violence, and there are about 60% more of those fuckers then there are of the Thugs, I hope it doesn't have to get to that point, but a good majority of the American middle class love their 2nd Amendment Rights, and practice them religiously, and love their Country, it might be a great time to see if G-Off has that extra bedroom available.
    • Well if that's the case, because there is NO proof, or evidence, and nobody really knows for sure, then wouldn't that mean that wet markets are a conspiracy as well? and anything anyone believes at all about it, is in fact a conspiracy theory? am I not correct? And the Chinese lab thing cannot be a conspiracy theory anyways, as it's anything but hidden or secret, the Chinese scientist blew the lid on it himself, that's where it originated from, ALLEGEDLY!
    • Great creepy, scary, weird, clown faced avatar. I like the new one too.  😆
    • Welcome back mate. Nice link.
    • Not just their older relatives. Think about it, if (and again that's IF) this thing is as widespread and contagious as it is, then it's only gonna take ONE infected A symptomatic person to attend a rally and transmit it countless others from countless areas. We'll see.
    • With the way he's churning them out, I'm hoping for an ongoing album theme. Do I dare hope that in the future we could be discussing "At the Movies V". There's a huge well to draw from.
    • Papa Roach - Who Do You Trust? Great album, one of their best
