Forgotten Hard Rock Albums: Blue Tears - "Blue Tears" (1990)

Recommended Posts

Another in my series of forgotten albums. This band was not a blind purchase having read about them a lot in Metal Edge around this time. On the heels of the excellent Trixter release, MCA/Mechanic was releasing some great stuff. So here we have a perfect slice of AOR/hard rock. Musically, vocally, just a classic all the way around.

Here's some of my favorites:

For me it is 'Crush.' Flawless album except for that one tune.

This thread title should read "Forgotten (Only By Fools) Hard Rock Albums", because if you've heard this album and you forgot about it you're a drip. ;)

Brilliance.

I have a feeling that this album is not forgotten by anyone on these boards as it is pretty much regarded as an all time classic.

This album should have appealed to anyone who was a fan of Bon Jovi, but it was just released at the wrong time sadly.

Well, I introduced a hardcore Melodic Rock fan (and massive Def Leppard and Jon Bovi fanboy, at that) to these guys just a month ago, so I'd say they qualify as "forgotten."

Not forgotten by fans of the genre. Correct me if I'm wrong Alpha, but with these threads it's more of a forgotten by "history" kinda thing.

I wish this one had been released on PolyGram Records in late 1986 (like Slippery) or mid 1987 (like Hysteria).

Put them on tour with either of those bands on either of those tours and we would NOT be talking about Blue Tears in a "FORGOTTEN ALBUMS" thread... we'd be talking about this band and their debut album as one of the all-time greats of the genre.

The most amazingly overproduced album of all time, exactly what I love, phony as fuck, the most catchy songs, that get stuck in your head forever, the station where I lived played Crush when I was in 9th grade, and I went bezerk trying to get it, when I got it, I have never not listened to it, I listened to it last month, one of those once in a decade, maybe a lifetime cd;s, cant say I dislike a song on it, great thread on this one. props to David Cole!!

    • AWESOME!!! Song...   https://gbdeclaration.org/
    • going to play today at some point. expecting a cheesefest but in a good way
    • I've never seen that before on Spotify - says full album available soon. it's not clear if they've held in back or there's been an error uploading it
    • From what I understand, Pete and Steve are extremely pissed at Mark "Gus" Scott. https://www.madrock1025.com/trixter-members-go-public-with-feud/ In an argument that’s gone uncomfortably public, Trixter drummer Mark “Gus” Scott has fired back at his disgruntled bandmates, claiming he only wants what’s best for the group. The feud began when Steve Brown and P.J. Farley told interviewers Scott was on “the sh*t list beyond belief,” comparing him to disobedient dog. Now, in a new interview, Scott says the band’s problems go well beyond just one dissenting member. “I don’t know if the ‘bad dog’ is the best analogy and the best manner in which to visualize what’s happened with Trixter,” he says. “I think there’s been different ideologies within the band for a very, very long time. We’ve been together over 30 years. So I think there’s always been — I don’t wanna say a ‘rift,’ but more recently, if there was a rift, it was certainly becoming more and more exponentially grown.” While not naming names, Scott says his issues are with the band’s “leadership,” adding he refuses to be “led by ignorance.” Ouch. How long will it be before Trixter either calls it quits or parts ways with Scott? Have the members of Trixter been together too long?
    • What's the story there? I recall a couple videos between the two "new" albums that portrayed them all as good buddies.
    • A magnificent hidden gem from Ted Poley.
    • Ok, so they did shoot a video for "Breakdown." I fucking love this song!!
    • New hard rock from Maryland:
    • Here's a few from artists not included on your list yet. I think they all qualify, we'll see. I've saved the best for last. A Legendary Aussie artist covering a Legendary Aussie band. The song is about the Vietnam War. Very profound.
