Forgotten Hard Rock Albums: Silent Rage - Don't Touch Me There (1989)

Recommended Posts

Being a KISS fanatic, I gobbled up anything on the short-lived Simmons label. Really loved Gypsy Rose on the label and the killer House Of Lords debut was also on the label. And then this band was no slouch either. Silent Rage was top quality hard rock. Loved this from the opening riff. Great songs, great production, beefy guitars, and hooks galore.

Haven't spun this is way too long. Here's some of the highlights!!

What a start for Simmons Records, House of Lords, Gypsy Rose and this one.  All should have been bigger than they were, in my opinion.  Not sure if it was of lack of promotion/support or if they just got overlooked due to all the other great albums during that era.  Several co-writes with Paul Sabu leads to an understandable comparison to Only Child's debut, but I prefer this one as the songs had better hooks and it rocked harder.  While Silent Rage's own debut (Shattered Hearts) had some solid tracks on it, I found this follow up to be a big step forward for the band.  The album is full of good tunes, but the title track is probably my favorite.

Love this album. I'd heard and loved 'Rebel with a cause' for years before I ever got this recording... after I saw the clip on a Hard N' Heavy video. The album is awesome, but yes, sadly the only good one in the discography.

Yeah their debut was ok...but this release was Brilliant...it had the songs, the hooks, the production, the image...the whole package, I still listen to this quite a bit....it should have been massive just like the aforementioned House Of Lords debut & Gypsy Rose releases.

Oh and yes the Only Child release is also Brilliant  :)

Mighty vinyl! If I ever part ways with my vinyls, this would be on the last 200-300 to go!

I've had the title track suck in my head all fucking week, but I don't have the album on my DAP, for whatever reason. But now that I'm home -- just landed -- I'm gonna have to sping this immediately.

excellent album.

I think I ranked it in the top 15 of 1989 and trust me that is some achievement.

was lucky enough to see them live at Firefest.

Funny, I was just listening to this record today. Great album. They were great at Z-Rock in Manchester in 2001 I think it was.

Even though it's a partial cover, 'Can't get her out of my head' is actually my favourite song on this album. Absolutely love that tune.
