Toque - Never Enough

Great song.

From FB:

In 2012, Todd Kerns, Brent Fitz and Cory Churko took time out of their busy schedules playing with Slash and Kelly Clarkson to band together and play a charity event in Winnipeg, Canada. They decided the theme of the night was to play only Canadian classic music. With a setlist comprised of tunes by such greats as, Streetheart, Queen City Kids, Kim Mitchell, Loverboy, Saga, Platinum Blonde, Harlequin and Aldo Nova they played to a packed house raising money for Cancer research.

The night was such a success that they decided to put together a record to celebrate the best in Canadian Music and remake the songs that influenced and inspired their careers. Toque was born!

Toque is:
Todd Kerns - Lead vocals and Guitar
Brent Fitz - Drums and vocals
Cory Churko - Guitar and Vocals

I don't know that song and assume I won't know most these tunes, in which case this could be a really enjoyable album for me. I do like that tune.

I believe other than this song, the rest is covers of Canadian acts from the 70s, 80s. I recognize song titles from Prism, Red Rider, Orphan, Headpins, Harlequin, and Rush.

I really like this song and have always liked Kerns' vocals dating back to Age of Electric. I was really hoping Slash was gonna go with him as lead vocalist instead of Kennedy in his solo project. No doubting Kennedy's talent, just prefer Kerns.

Never Enough For You is my favourite track of 2019. Down Again is another original track from the band...almost just as good. I’d love a release of originals only.

They are clearly the best cover band in Canada....Todd Kerns could be the best rock vocalist from Canada right now. I’ve been a huge fan of his voice for over 20 years....but this is miles away his best project and blows everything else he’s done out of the water.

Their covers are so good that the majority are way, way better than the originals....especially in the production.

I had to look up what a toque is. Down here we call it a beanie. I guess beanie isn't quite as good as a band name.

So are you saying this isn't a cover song? It's one of their originals? If so, I agree they should just do originals.

That Never Enough For You song is really good.

Shame the rest of the album is all covers....

Based upon that first song they ought to be working on an album of original material.....They could have something.

Yeah, most of the world calls them beanies.

But, then, most of the world is fucked.

Word.

Not that it has anything to do with beanies...

    • How To Talk To Girls At Parties ~ Wow, where'd this 2016 movie come from? Really good film and not in any way shape or form associated with the title which has no relevance to the film. Super eclectic but not in that Portland trying to be weird way by screaming it in peoples faces that your weird to try and convince everyone even though your not. Period 70's movie centering around some punk rockers that stumble upon a "party" but everyone there are aliens, unbeknownst to the 3 boys. Crazy ensues there after with a very cool sappy ending. Well worthy a watch imho.
    • Exactly what I have been thinking too haha. I love the Marcello/Vestry album more than TMF and The Defiants' debut albums. Personally I find it even better than most DD albums. It's one of my fave melodic rock albums of all time.
    • Ha! I actually made some comments in that thread. Completely forgot about it.

    • 4 tracks from the debut 7 from Freedom Rock 4 from Address The Nation 5 from TDTW 6 from ITGU plus Drink Alone
    • Sounds very U2 to me, which I don't mind
    • I would appreciate if you guys could answer the following question : Has anyone heard the GUIRO (if you don't know what it is please google it) in "Love Is The Killer"? And does it bother you? I just noticed it while listening to the album with headphones. They already used a guiro on the debut ("Waiting On A Heartbreak") which I thought was strange at first but it's only during the chorus and I've since gotten used to it. But this time they really went overboard with it it's so irritating. You can hear it throughout the entire verses and the solo...  Edit: it's also on U X'd my heart, although a bit more subtle. What's the fascination with this (sorry to say) useless instrument? The only thing it does is ruin a perfectly good song
    • Nice song but not completely blown away by it. Out of the first singles/videos they have released so far for each album except Artwork, this new one is my least favourite. Hope the rest are all gems.
    • On this week's episode of everyone's favorite soap opera "Changing of Seasons" - guitarist Pav leaves the band before their US tour and and release of the new Album in October
