The furthest I've gone from rock

Recommended Posts

Since I was a teen, I've always been into heavy metal and hard rock. Maybe some 3 or 4 years ago, I've been enjoying several bluegrass bands. BLUEGRASS!

Now, its NeoTango. The band that turned me to this genre is Gotan Project.

Have a listen...

What is the genre you enjoy that you enjoy that is just too far from the hard rock music we love?

I really enjoy country. BUt not this twangy pop that is attempted to be passed off as country but old school Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty, Randy Travis, Waylon Jennings. Rebel Country ya know?

Also really dig alot movie orchestral scores.

You guys already know my musical taste is fucked, but stuff like Traditional Folk music of various countries (ie. France, Greece, Hungary, Japan) is probably the furthest removed. I was gonna say Opera, but a lot of our Metal is symphonic, and many of our vocalists sing in an operatic style.

A bit of Jamiroquai is my guilty pleasure...

although in the summer especially when I'm on holidays I enjoy a bit of Trance music that seems to just set up the night to feel....summery  :)

I like a lot of f 80's and 90's Euro and Italo dance music (for example Radiorama, Baltimora, Modern Talking, Blue System, Den Harrow, Masterboy, Ace of Base, Real McCoy,  Corona, Eiffel 65, Culture Beat, Kylie Minogue etc).....very different from Rock and AOR sound

Oh yeah! 80s Euro dance music like the "Nineteen Six Two Eight" by Europe (NOT Joey Tempest's, Sweden's).

I also listen to some Canadian folk/traditional music (some French). Thanks to a radio station here in Alberta that played a whole variety of music like Classical, folk, modern folk, bluegrass, synth pop, jazz, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s rock, and even Metallica. Check out CKUA if you got a chance. Must be the coolest radio station ever.
