I don't think so, even though most of the potential standout releases are due out later in the year, it's always enjoyable to see what recent ones other people have enjoyed listening to.

From what I've heard so far this year my favorites are:

  1. Roulette - Now!
  2. Flotsam and Jetsam - The End of Chaos
  3. Rain or Shine - The Darkest Part of Me
  4. The End Machine - S/T
  5. Temple Balls - Untamed

I think for me the most notable releases have been the ones I've been disappointed with (Kane Roberts, Tora Tora, Tesla, and L.A. Guns) and although I don't consider any of those bad albums, I was expecting better having been a big fan of most of their prior releases.

Same procedure every year. End of the first quarter always seems fair enough.

That said, there's not a right lot good out there yet.

I enjoyed the new Queensryche also, just missed my early year top 5.  I haven't heard your other two selections just yet, but have read mostly positive comments about the new DT and I recall Darkwater's last album, Where Stories End, being a good one, so I'll plan on giving those two albums a listen soon

Solid but pretty tame top five so far, but hopefully better to come. A lot of disappointments so far this year. This is the best so far, imo;

1    .    Find Me     -    Angels In Blue

2    .    Roulette     -    Now!

3    .    Toby Hitchcock     -    Reckoning

4    .    To the Rats and Wolves     -    Cheap Love

5    .    Michael Oakley     -    Introspect

Only one that really sticks out for m is Tesla.

Mike Tramp released his best album in years, but I need to give this more time

My daughters band, Greyview, released an EP, so I should probably include that.

The End Machine was good

Need to try The TReatment again but from memory it was very ACDC, so likely won't many any of my lists.

I've heard plenty of good EPs disguised as albums ;)

The only album worth listening to so far this year is Cats in Space.

I predict big things though from May onwards -

Crazy Lixx
Lebrock
Work of Art
Eclipse
Reckless Love
First Signal
Crashdiet
Revolution Saints
The Defiants
Degreed
One Desire

and I'm lovin the sound of Cannonballz

I didn't catch that right away. I thought, "EPs? Well, come on, tell us which ones."

I must have missed the announcement of new Rev Saints. That's good news.

lol. What's that doing in your list? Another irritating ex-rock artist doing some cliche all-the-rage light pop thing without even a hint of their former self. These types or artists are really annoying me.

Some of it's unexpectedly pretty decent. It's not metal, but it's nice pop rock. Actually has guitars n' drums n' stuff. Unlike whatever this new shit is. :(

DT is good but unspectacular. Not a patch on Thresholds Legends imo.

Beast in Black has about 4 or 5 great songs but the rest are a bit meh .

    • Should not be called Santa Cruz. Almost like a Techno or Industrial sound to it. Feels like we lost Dynazty to a heavier sound and now Santa Cruz. What is happening to the glam hardrock scene that was so strong a few years back?

    • Press release: Art Of Melody Music & Burning Minds Music Group are excited to announce all the details of "Begin Again", new official studio album by Italian melodic hard-rockers, Wheels Of Fire. After two successful releases, that received great feedback from fans and critics all around the world (the debut album "Hollywood Rocks" reached #42 on the charts of renowned Japanese magazine, Burrn!), Wheels Of Fire are now back on the scene with what is going to be their strongest release so far, showcasing the noteworthy skills of a band at the top of its form. The new album includes experienced contributors, Pierpaolo "Zorro" Monti (Raintimes, Shining Line, Charming Grace) and Gianluca Firmo(Room Experience, Firmo), and offers an excellent mix of perfectly-balanced elements between the arena melodies unleashed in "Hollywood Rocks", and the prominent guitar work of "Up For Anything", featuring a bombastic and up-to-date sound thanks to the great mix and mastering work by Roberto Priori (Danger Zone, Raintimes, I.F.O.R., Alchemy). Frontman Davide "Dave Rox" Barbieri quotes: "Seven years have passed since the release of our second studio album, "Up For Anything". Seven long years where we never stopped writing new music, rehearsing together, playing live and believing in this band. This meant for us evolving both as artists and human beings, and this is something that inspired us to moving forward and creating this third official chapter. "Begin Again" represents a promising new beginning in our artistic career, that has been developed staying loyal to the sound and the style we all love: the great melodic rock music. I'm very proud of this work, and I can't really wait to share it to all the fans and friends around the world". "Begin Again" is scheduled for release on June 7, 2019 via Art Of Melody Music / Burning Minds Music Group. A special personalized edition has been created by Outward Styles in a very limited quantity of 50 copies, and is available exclusively on the label's online shop, Rock Temple. CD graphics have been designed by Aeglos Art (Airbound, Raintimes, Michael Kratz, Alchemy, Firmo), while the CD booklet features introductory liner notes written by Marco Aimasso (Metal.it). The release will be celebrated with an exclusive live event on June 8, 2019 @ Dedolor Music Headquarter (Rovellasca - CO / ITALY), during the second awaited edition of the "Rock Temple Festival".
