I was one of the few to quite like her last album. Will check this one out.

I really liked it as well. Certainly not her greatest work, but some cool catchy songs on it.

Not a bad song

She used to live across the street from me and was a play mate of my older brother's. Moved away long before becoming Lee Aaron but kinda cool anyway.

Songs not bad. Sounds strikingly like a rocking Shania Twain. Lee/Shania both highly appealing aesthetically.

I find this album to be horrible. By far her worst ever. It's definitely a new style for her and the worst thing is she seems very comfortable and competent at it. So I guess good luck to her, if this is where she's headed.

But if you're looking for something that sounds like her 80's/90's stuff, steer well clear of this. If, however, you're just looking for a good album with good songs... well, still steer well the fuck away from this. Awful stuff.

I quite link this. Not going to change your world but there some catchy stuff in here.

I've not really heard her early stuff so I'm not comparing it against that material though.

I'm somewhat unsure what making love to a crocodile is all about.

On a scale of 'chain' to 'Zelda' how much do you link it?

But, Geoff, the press release says it's her best album in decades.

I kinda disagree and agree with you on this. The disagreement is because overall it is not a terrible album and is by far not her worst (go listed to the two jazz albums and 2Preciious or whatever that band was called). And as for classic sound, she does not really have one as her sound evolved significantly over the years. She went from the rawer heavier stuff of her earliest albums to the slick radio friendly stuff like Some girls do, to a more modern "serious" album like Emotional rain. All very different.

Now where I do agree with you is that it is nowhere near close to being up there with her best and the lyrics are bloody horrible.

There were a couple of songs where I just wanted to shout at her to shut up. The lyrics actually sound at times like they were written by a 10 year old who had just formed their own band for the first time. (My babe being a particularly bad song lyrically.)

The album for me is listenable, but is not even a patch on her last one (which I know left fans divided).

I know having the word blues in the title was a giveaway she would be trying her hand at that style of music, but I did not expect the lyrics to give me the blues due to the horribleness.

    • That is great news, one of the most consistent bands over the years
    • Well said, they were one of my favorite bands for the better part of a decade starting with High 'n Dry but unfortunately outside of some tracks on Euphoria and a couple on the self-titled album they've done very little that has interested me over the last 25 years.  Without Mutt pushing them and collaborating on the songwriting they seem to have been adrift without any clear direction
    • You hit the nail on the head for me.  The Yeah album was irritating as heck...Covers of a bunch of songs that I never liked to begin with when they should be doing new music.   Def Leppard has been absolutely terrible at releasing new music...What's there, 2 new albums in the last 15 years or something?  And 2 albums that were average at best with nowhere near the attention to detail or even focus they used to have.  They're always been my favorite band but they need a producer in the worst way if you ask me.  I mean, just put out a melodic rock album and stop screwing around with 70's influences and copycat Queen songs.  They irritate me that they've seemed to run away from the style of music that made them successful. Honestly...If they would just put out a melodic rock album in the vein of what Midnite City is doing, people would eat it up and say how awesome it is.  Instead they continue doing these hodgepodge albums with a few good songs and a bunch of bad experiments and/or covers.....with Greatest Hits albums or live released every other year. Sorry for the rant but they have been a frustrating band that was capable of much more the past 10-15 years IMO.
    • I have that 1987 album lined up for Thursday at work... what's the next one like? The one from 1989?
    • I'm very fond of that. Love it. Does this dude play the guitar as well as sing? I love that guitar sound he has in his tunes. Great melodic rock.
    • Climie Fisher was one of those 80's band I loved back then. Great band. Still dig it.
    • Really good album. Definite return to form here. This was an excellent band, but they kind of lost their way with the whole female vocal era, with some odd choices. It just wasn't for me, but now that the female vocals are gone, it's just down to proper melodic rock business. Good production and a great ballsy sound. Love the music on here... only slight "thing" is that a few choruses just kind of blend into the verses and you're halfway through before you're all like, "oh, this is actually the chorus." But that's not quite as bad as it sounds. The verses are very strong with nice backing vocal melodies popping up anywhere any time, so it's just a good flow of goodness.  Real nice album.
    • Ha down memory lane. Watching the video after so many years.
