Anybody check out the Vibration I EP released today?  Probably could start a thread for it but I'm not sure EP's deserve their own thread

Anyhow, for me it's pretty good.   We'd already heard 3 songs so only 2 "new" songs on it.  I think Do You, Keep Me Alive and Revolution are all pretty good and are probably the "keepers" for me here.  You Will Remain is okay but not really doing a lot for me.  And the last song To The Moon and Back is a cover and I rarely get excited about covers.  I guess the good thing here is I had never heard of the original song so it basically feels like an original to me and it's decent enough.

Overall, seems like it's a fairly "light" EP and doesn't have much edge to it like say songs like The Crown, Harder To Breathe, etc.  Still decent stuff that's melodic and catchy though.  I think mostly I just have a real hard time getting excited about EP's in general and there is nowhere near the same buzz as there is when it's a full album.  I kinda question the decision to release an EP and to switch away from Frontiers when they seemed to really increase their buzz with the last album.  Think they are planning a second EP later this year...Hopefully both are combined into a single CD down the road.

I get the feeling Frontiers wants too much control.

I like these guys but the singer is still the weakest link IMO.

He's actually the reason I listen to the band. His vocal style is the only thing that sets them apart from every other Melodic Hard Rock band out there.

Yep, this and also the hooks and melodies.
His voice is perfectly suited to the music.

Thanks for the reminder, I had forgotten all about the release date for their new EP,  I plan to check it out today.  But I agree, while I am grateful for some new tunes, I'd have thought they'd just hold off a little longer and include as part of a new full length.  It will be interesting to see where things go from here for the guys with leaving Frontiers.

Got the physical EP and have to give them a couple props.  I traditionally dislike EP's and not really a fan of buying them as the ones I've bought in the past are usually in cardboard sleeves and cheaply done.

This one though came packaged nicely in a jewel case with lyrics in the booklet.  Nice touch.

That said, I still don't like the idea of EP's and that I had to pay a full CD price to get it.  Basically just get half the music for the same cost.  But at least it was well put together ;)

Gotta say, not a mad fan of these guys like a lot of folk here, but this is a good EP. I was actually looking forward to the Savage Garden cover, but that was a disappointment. The original song is better. But their four original songs were all quite good. Good solid EP.

Brilliant e.p pity they couldn't just wait and have a full release...because as tts42572 pointed out its still priced as full priced release and with postage it was actually more expensive for me...worth it in a way because it is so good but a few more tunes wouldn't have went a miss  :) but these guys are just growing and going from strength to strength.

I hate how they release sampoles and songs before the EP is out.

I get it to a degree with full albums, release one, maybe two songs, to whet the appetites, but when you release one or two songs off a 5 tracj EP, it kind of removes the 'new music' vibe.
Would rather they release nothing before the nest one and get to hear all 5 tracks as they are new.

you don't have to listen to them. I didn't.

hopefully part 2 will be this year and it will be like a full album :)

Yeah, I've only heard the one HEAT sample.

Liostened to both the posted FFDP songs and was a bit underwhelmed because they didn't have the surrounding songs I think.
Time will tell.

    • Extensive listening to this album done. I love it. It's their best one yet. As I've said, I love the harder and heavier HEAT. The only song I don't like is Nothing To Say, but then I don't generally like ballads and have to be in s certain mood to like them, so I usually skip that one.  Apart from that, there's not a filler on here. My favourites are all of them.
    • so you believe that from a pin prick of nothing there was an almighty explosion which created enough matter to create a universe which is billions of light years across and contains 100 billion galaxies.  nice. good for you. How about a massive 'we don't know' rather than this bollocks.  as for faith....believe what u want. Just don't hold your breath when you pop off. now getting back to reality I have a life to get on with. laters
    • Hey Russ, wanna know how to curb this issue? tell them you introduced your nephew to heroin, wait a few days, then say you were just fucking with her, after that, weed won't even be kind of a big deal. Plus!   YOU SMOKE WEED? WTF, im telling
    • Hey G-Off, ya know that one dude Otis?
    • These "Monsters of Rock" cruises sound epic. What's the male to female ratio?
    • Funny how it's usually beneficial to wait a few years before purchasing an album.
    • I'll respond on behalf of Stefan: you're welcome.
    • "Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs" (a legendary Aussie band) released a song in 1964 called "Mashed Potato". It was a cover, but still managed to reach top 10 nationally at the time. When it comes to songwriting, sometimes less is more.
    • Your all idiots! I think it's bout time all of you quit fucking around and just accept Jesus Christ as your lord and savior, the big bang did happen, when God decided we needed a good home to live, so he made our entire solar system full of completely dead shit, but made one single planet to put us on, so he could sit and watch us, all the billions of us, he sees each one of us and keeps a Talley on what we do, so u guys stop being blasphemous, your starting to offend me
    • I stopped thinking about any of this type of thing years ago. Basically when I got to the point where any type of religion was equated to the Egyptians worhipping the Sun as their god. Ironic that they chose a science to worship. Any talk of religion now falls into the 'cult' side of things for me, and their weird religious view are kind of just get lumped into the silly airy fairyland area for me.
