Top Ten of 2017 (at the moment)

Not heard Degreed or DaVinci yet, but my top 10 as of today would be;

9. Muna - About U

I'm really surprised you like the album that much. Cool.

Yeah, I love it. The best songs on it are just marvellous. So infectious too. I just find they're in my head all the time.

Hmmm..... what type of band? Modern rock?

Nope. They're a Synthpop/Pop Rock band. Very 80's sounding.

Don't even bother, Russ. I can assure you you'd hate it. ;)

Just listened to a few tracks. They kind of remind me of the Cranberries for some reason.

I thought The Vamps album was pretty average, actually, and Taylor Swift's new one is her worst yet. But hey, to each their own. Enjoy them, sir. ;)

Yes,it's that good. As you rightly said the songs are so infectious. Been listening to the album every day. As of today, this will probably take the 2nd spot..Crazy lixx's Ruff Justice being the 1st.

Mine so far:

H.e.a.t - Into The Great Unknown (Heard it all, like it plenty)

Crazy Lixx - Ruff Justice (Fantastic effort from these guys that is right there with H.e.a.t)

Eclipse - Monumentum

Tokyo Motor Fist (Was my #1 at one point this year but has faded a bit for me)

One Desire - S/T (Album continues to be one I find myself going back to)

Haren Scarem - United (Haven't traditionally liked much of their stuff but really like this album)

Degreed - S/T (Another solid, consistent effort)

I'm stopping there. A couple other releases like Art Nation and Warrant that I've enjoyed but not enough to list.

I see many touting Confess....I need to give that a closer look. I remember trying a few songs and it just didn't grab me. I remember that Animal Attraction video being good though :)

Only other release I think that could crack my list would be Midnite City. Based upon what I've heard, it could very well slot into my Top 5.

I still struggle with the production on the Tokyo Motor Fist

I do a bit too...just wish the songs were beefed up...little more richness in guitars and drums or something. I think that's partly why it's fallen a couple spots for me. Still good though.

In comparison to the others in your list it sounds like it was recorded in a tin can.

Ok, off the top of my head, these would probably be in there - no order though at the moment

Degreed (heard this morning and its great except for the boring piano ballad)

Cats in Space (heard this morning.....just love this, some stunning songs and harmonies)

Night Flight Orchestra (pure genius, nuff said)

Tokyo Motor Fist (production still an issue for me, but great songs)

Brother Firetribe (massive and pompy)

Eclipse (they can do no wrong....great album again)

One Desire (huge surprise....love this album and great live too)

Crazy Lixx (their best imo - one killer tune after another)

Harem Scarem (big return to form)

and mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Probably Lionville, or maybe Confess?? But these will easily be replaced with HEAT (heard enough to know I'll love it), Threshold, Boulevard, Rev Saints, JSS etc I reckon, or hope ;)

[PS not heard Kryptonite, Vain and a few others]

OK,

so this is probably making up my top 10 now (no order)

Eclipse

Crazy Lixx

One Desire

HEAT

Degreed

Night Flight Orchestra

Threshold

Cats in Space

Harem Scarem

again the tenth spot is being contested by a few.....Brother Firetribe, Wraith, Tokyo Motor Fist, Boulevard, Lionville, Confess.

However Midnite City will eclipse those and I still have high hopes for JSS, Rev Saints, Babylon AD and a few others.

Exciting year.

    • New song 'Head Of The Snake'. Pretty sweet. “Brave Tin World” is yet another fantastic album where the band delivers a fine slice of cinematic/symphonic metal. Often compared to musical giants such as Within Temptation, Nemesea, and Delain, The Murder of My Sweet are Sweden’s significant answer to those revered Dutch acts. Musically, the band’s new album follows the path of their previous record, "Beth Out Of Hell", with a more straight-ahead songwriting approach, while still offering the symphonic and cinematic elements the band is now well-known for. "Brave Tin World" showcases a Nordic sound that the members of the band grew up listening to and lyrically takes on issues in tune with our modern day life. "It's a more relaxed and mature album,” says producer and drummer Daniel Flores. "We're currently in transition with our songwriting, trying to bring out our identity instead of our chops. Sonically, we've taken a step further too, concentrating on more details than before." Debuting with the first single, “Tin Soldiers” the band is truly stronger than ever. "The song seems like it's been growing in our heads for the past ten years. We just didn't know how to communicate it properly until now. It's sort of an adventure about a mature topic that is unfortunately still very much of an issue these days,” tells singer Angelica Rylin. With Angelica Rylin carrying the vocals with her smooth, powerful voice, the wall of sound supporting the vocals is provided by Christopher Vetter on guitar, Patrik Janson on bass, and Daniel Flores on drums and keyboards. It’s easy to close your eyes while listening to The Murder of My Sweet and imagine you are listening to a movie soundtrack. It has that musical film production value that makes movies feel bigger than life, but translated to music.  "This album has something we've never accomplished before,” concludes Daniel Flores. "It's a perfect balance between heavy and light and the immersion is so substantial no one will be able to deny it." THE MURDER OF MY SWEET’s aim is to create a distorted film noir vibe and experience by putting the wonder, sadness, humour and sheer zest of life into their music. By playing it to the point where the drama explodes, the music and the words become the utmost expression of the direct and ecstatic pure joy of being. THE MURDER OF MY SWEET have arrived again with an unforgettable thrill of a lifetime album. Whatever you do, don’t miss the show. Tracklist: 1. Tin Soldiers 2. My Religion 3. Head Of The Snake 4. Reasons To Live 5. Safe In The Shadows 6. Hit The Ground 7. Everyone Wins 8. Memento 9. Keeper Of The Flame 10. Worth Fighting For 11. Alchemy Of Sins Line-up Angelica Rylin - Vocals Daniel Flores - Keyboards, strings arrangements, backing vocals and Drums Christopher Vetter - Acoustic and electric guitars Patrik Janson - Bass
    • Thank you very much '
    • This is an excellent album.  Nice mix of sounds.  Am really loving the retro tune "Let Me Dream".  Has a lot of Foreigner's "Waiting For a Girl Like You" in it, only more up-tempo.  There's a couple other bands in it, too, but I'm drawing a blank on who it sounds like.  Great song though.
    • Yeah but S'Cool Bus is  a rare one indeed...have a rip of it somewhere from years ago,,Law Of The Order is where I sat up and took notice
    • Law of the order was their second album. S’cool Bus the first. Also recorded an album called alter ego but that was when they were called the sharks .   Forgotten this dropped today. Will be my listening the next few days.
    • While it is a little higher pitched, that guitar solo reminds me more of classic Sabbath than anything Ozzy has done in his solo career. Hell, the whole song sounds like a more modernised version of 70s Sabbath. Me rikey.
    • Michael Voss has always been very hit and miss. Even on individual albums. Need to hear more.
    • That wasn't great at all,his voice sounds fine...but the lyrics are awful, even as a the tribute they are written for...sorry
    • Probably Dokken, Queensryche, Skid Row and Van Hagar. All band members are still alive, so it is technically possible.
    • Love these guys. Cirice is catchy as fuck.
