R.I.P. Paul O'Neill (Savatage/TSO producer)

Recommended Posts

Chris Caffery just posted this on his official FB a few minutes ago.

"The entire Trans-Siberian Orchestra family, past and present, is heartbroken to share the devastating news that Paul ONeill has passed away from chronic illness.

He was our friend and our leader -- a truly creative spirit and an altruistic soul. This is a profound and indescribable loss for us all.

We ask that you respect Pauls familys privacy now."

Sad news. My family stateside goes to see TSO every December when they come around for the holidays.

I remember first hearing "Hall of the Mountain King" and think OMG this is F'n awesome.

I was pretty much hooked after hearing it. "Gutter Ballet" came along and sealed the deal for me.

He was the Jim Steinman or Bernie Taupin to Jon Oliva.

Classic Savatage will be played today in his honor.

Between him an Jon they wrote some of the best music ever and was really looking forward to the new material and shows to go along with it. Very sad, I hope Jon and the rest of TSO can continue but without the mastermind behind it we can only hope for the greatness that Paul O'Neill brung to the band.

I'm OK with them touring, but I don't care to hear new music. Not unless it's material Paul had already written.

Paul's written a heap of unreleased stuff. Was in the middle of recording 2 albums as well as a couple of finished Broadway musicals. There's a tonne of stuff we might not ever hear!
