I know right?  To each their own I guess. I love it as much as the previous albums.

Yep, and like I said, I've tried pretty hard to really like it.
Just nothing stands out for me.

In a way, the same as how ACDC can no longer make any music that grabs me.

I guess you could say that I see Monumentum as pretty much all filler...

WOW. To not think an album is great is one thing, but to say you feel the whole album(10 to 11) songs to be ALL filler???  Wow again!

OK< I probably shouldn't have said 'filler'

To me they are just generic songs. Nothing spectacular, nothing I haven't heard before, and (for me) lacking that 'it' factor

When I add them to my best of folder, only 2 or 3 songs will make it.

I know my comment would not be popular, but different strokes....
I can see how others here like it. I don't dislike it per se'

it's not a case of being popular or not.

nothing released in 2017 was different or new. in 40 odd years of listening to rock music I've heard it all.

it just depends on how well it's done.

Eclipse are nothing new but they do write some mighty anthems and I just struggle to understand how someone who frequents this site doesn't like them.

also is it that different to what came before? not really. just more of the same

Simply. For me it was blander.

Like I said before, I compare to ACDC.
We went from amazing individual songs to recent albums where the music wasn't bad, just nothing that stands out.
Of like all the ACDC type bands around.
I love Dangerous Toys, and I excitedly bought the Broken Teeth album when it came out. Damn disappointing, because it was boring.

Maybe I would have liked Monumentum more if they had more varied material on it.

I get what you're saying about not being that different from past releases, but that stuff to me was hookier and a bit more varied.

I see Million Miles Away as x3 any song on Monumentum.

well I still rate Ready To Rock as their best album.

everything since has been re-hashed albeit very well.

personally I don't think new album is bland. Most of the songs are just what i like these days.

could do without that silly Eden song tho ;)

haha, Eden is my favorite off the album.

I cannot relate to that song at all. no idea what it's about and the lyrics are shite. one of their worst songs imo

New version, or just an acoustic version? Sounds like the latter to me.

Either way, best song on the album. Sounds nice acoustic too.

Okay version....I prefer the original though as it was among my favorites on the album.  I do like how they labeled it the "sellout version" lol.

Speaking of this album, just pulled it out earlier this week for a listen and still digging it.  I do hope they add a little more variety on the next album but it's still excellent stuff.

    • I posed him that exact question on his discord page as to what his future plans are.... He said he plans to relax for a bit, do his You Tube thing, keep writing new music and then will decide how to release that music.  He said as of now he's thinking he'll either do a solo thing or form his own band.  He didn't say this but I'd sort of envision a Daughtry type "band" where he kind of puts a band behind his name. So essentially, I think you're right on with his plans.  Ultimately, I think like you say, the control is a big part of it.  I think he wants to be able to operate on his own schedule to maintain his health and family obligations. It'll be interesting to see what sound the new material takes on.  It would seem logical to think it would be rock/melodic rock of some sort since that's really the type of music he's built his following with but he certainly has shown he can dabble anywhere from AOR to metal.
    • Glad I got to see them with Erik in front. All the best to him, definitely looking forward to his future outings when he is fully recovered. Would be cool to see him form his own band, where he could take control, and play around in different genres, from full on metal, to soothing AOR, the guy is so versatile.
    • Remedy - Crying Heart. One I've just seen thanks to the Iridium channel.  From the upcoming album. It's a Killer.
    • Let's not forget Benny Hill. What a Magnificent show that was.
    • Yeah... I dunno about that. It would be too cringe. Who knows? If I'm high enough, I might submit a video.
    • Yep great track and if you fancy being in the video for "The Feeling" nows your chance.
    • I'm proud to say that I had this single when I was a mere 8 years old. KISS were big down here then. Norman Gunston is Iconic for Aussies of my vintage.  The face ln the bottom left says it all. Hilarious.
    • All in all, this is a great story. Erik played a brilliant, well received, albeit short cameo with one of our favourite bands.  It was a win, win, win. A win for us, a win for Skid Row (the album certainly put them back on the map) and a win for Erik, adding this to his already impressive resume. The fact that it was so amicable with both parties is also great to see.
    • I really like this album - not every song on it but there are some surprisingly catchy melodies all over. Personally I think the singer adds great energy to the mix. It reminds me of the earlier Bai Bang ("closer to you")
