This really sounds like a 90s indie release production wise but can't fault the actual song yet again

I cant believe no one else is commenting on the production. Sounds like it was recorded in a tin can. A big hollow one ;)

Marvellous song, worrying production.

I definitely know what you mean by the production. It's not as "clean" sounding as I'd like but it makes the songs more "raw" which I'm all for

Sounds real good. They are 3 for 3. I have high hopes for this group and album

yeah i'd pretty much agree it just sounds very raw and unpolished which I don't think does this kind of music any favours personally but I can only agree that the songs themselves are great and I am sure I will still enjoy the album , just wish it had a similar sound to latest ted poley or trixter disc ;)

Holy shit, that's awesome. Poley's voice hasn't sounded amazing on some recent more uptempo songs, but this song sounds great. And I still can't hear what y'all are complaining about regarding the production...

Production is better than I would have expected. Music from both bands involved in this tended to be on the overproduced side, and Ted's more recent stuff is way move overproduced and syrupy than this.

Yep.

I'm sure the sound on disc will be more rounded like on Spotify. Its certainly not a big glossy production like you would expect.

3 excellent songs though no doubt.

I read a comment from Andrew saying that the album was very varied, so not sure what the other songs will throw up.

First review I've really seen of this album...Sounding pretty good to me...

http://heavyparadise.blogspot.gr/2017/02/review-tokyo-motor-fist-tokyo-motor.html

Ted Poley (Danger Danger) and Steve Brown (guitarist of Trixter) or if you prefer Steve Brown and Ted Poley are two well-known musicians and very talented, that both with their main bands gained glory and fame back in the 80's. Also, both have a long-time friendship and the idea of to create a project has been in their minds for many years.
So, Frontiers Records achieved to make their dream a reality and nowadays they present a brand new project, Tokyo Motor Fist, that sounds the perfect combination of both Danger Danger and Trixter. The line-up completed by Greg Smith on bass and Chuck Burgi on drums.
What we have here is an 11-track album that will please both fans of the above mentioned bands but, also, every single fan of the melodic hard rock scene.
The up-tempo "Pickin' Up The Pieces" kicks-off things here impressively with the voice of Ted Poley in top form and a harmony that brings back the glory late 80's sound with style. Next, with "Love Me Insane" the boys deliver an edgier rocker, somewhere between Trixter and Danger Danger latest works, that must be played in maximum volume! The party is on fire with "Shameless" that includes an ultra-catchy chorus line enough to make you push the repeat button again and again!!!
"Love" is a track that is movin' to some modern rock paths but once again it is marvelous. Commercial as it gets with a Def Leppard vibe in it (especially the riff) and a heavenly melody in it, "Love" will make you love it at 'first sight'!!! "Black And Blue", "You Are My Revolution" and the heavier "Put Me To Shame" rock good while in "Don't Let Me Go" the guys deliver a huge power ballad that sounds like it jumped out from the late 80's!!! Yes it' that good!!
With "Done To Me", TMF unleash their big guns and at the end they create a killer heavy and melodic tune that includes some bad-ass riffs, powerful vocals and a rhythm section tight as hell!!
A 'blast from the past' album that will make you love it, that's for sure! Melodic hard rock bliss in an old-fashioned way from two very talented musicians that still got the spark inside them!!!

Even if I hadn't heard one song from this album, the aforementioned sentence would have been enough to sell me.

  • My Little Pony

So, I see this morning Ted shared my latest post on FaceTubes about this project, and he added a link to buy it from his eBay account. I love the man, but, c'mon, 32USD?

I thought about it...Like getting signed CDs...

But I decided to stick with my $13 and free release day delivery from Amazon.

    • Maybe it's because I've heard GnR a couple thousand times by now, but I much prefer "Fall to Pieces" by Velvet Revolver over "Sweet Child o Mine" at this point in my life.
    • I'll have to investigate that Durbin. I'd count Striker and Mick Mars among the best metal releases as well now that I think about it.
    • Haven't picked up Saxon yet, but as far as metal goes, I love the new Durbin album as well.
    • I wasn’t thrilled with the singles as they came out, other than “The Serpent and the King”, but I’ll be damned if they haven’t grown on me while listening to them as part of the cohesive package that is “Invincible Shield”. I broke down and picked up the Target exclusive to get the three bonus tracks, and I enjoy them too. Overall, a damn fine addition to the JP discography. Is it better than “Firepower“? I’m not there yet, but time will tell. 🤔 This one and Saxon have set the bar pretty high for metal this year. 👍
    • Agree with this. Though I think you should check out Firepower. You can get it real cheap new everywhere. It is molten. I'm also enjoying Invincible very much and 2024 new music as a whole.
    • I remember my early days on the internet joining a group on Yahoo (yeah thats how long ago it was) and the woman who created the group was trying to persaude me how great Creed was, so much so that she sent me the first two albums on CD. I had no idea what they sounded like. When I played them all I could think is that they sounded like Pearl Jam, and I fucking hate Pearl Jam. I ended up trading them for something better. I can't remember the ins and outs of it, but I somehow shared my CD collection online and she noticed straight away that the Creed CDs were not listed. She asked me why and I said I sold them as really did not like them, and got something I did like. She never spoke to me again after that
    • Like I Do,Do - Bret Michaels
    • I have always been an on/off fan of Priest. Loved Ram it down and Painkiller, then kinda lost interest when Rob left. Only newer albums I ever got around to picking up were Angel of retribution because I saw it real cheap and Nostrodamus as I found the deluxe edition cheap as well. With this one though I was interested in what I heard and saw the deluxe edition looked cool. I then saw they were selling copies on the JP website with a signed art card in both standard and deluxe format, but baulked at the price of the deluxe as they were charging an extra £10 over the unsigned version, and postage was lumpy ... plus I was a few days from getting paid. By the time I went back on there the signed deluxe was gone but they had the standard version with the signed card and it was the same price as the unsigned version (guess nobody was buying it) so decided to buy that and order the deluxe from Amazon, keep the artcard and sell the standard CD on eBay as it is still sealed. So yeah, been playing the album today and on my third (or is it fourth) playthrough, and absolutely loving it. When bands like Bon Jovi are  getting soft as shit with age, Rob and the guys are still full on metal gods. At 72, Rob should not be able to still perform like this, but he fucking well is, so more power to him. Really good start to the year so far with the 2024 albums I have picked up.
    • Evidently, Tichy has joined up with Gene Simmons' solo band, and the Daisies replaced him with Tommy Clufetos who'd helped them out before. Be interesting to see how much more there is to the story....
    • Been listening to this one on and off since Friday, and must say I'm VERY impressed. This is easily his best solo release in my opinion, and is much more melodic than his work with Creed. This one might just be this years equivalent to Godsmack for me personally i.e. late 90s musicians going in a more melodic direction and it working quite well!
