Love it! I was too big of a fan of the last 2 albums. Hopefully the new stuff will sound like the Charade stuff

Bormann out!

BONFIRE Decide On New Vocalist; Michael Bormann Out

Because of the sudden departure and separation from David Reece after two very successful charting CDs GLÖRIOUS & the double album PEARLS the place of the lead vocalist and Frontman of BONFIRE became vacant.

Originally BONFIRE found a new shouter in Michael Bormann, however, prior obligations kept him from starting his duties with Bonfire until mid-October 2016.

As so-called "transition singer" ALEXX STEEL (MASTERS OF DISGUISE, ROXXCALIBUR) spontaneously offered his help so BONFIRE where able to play the agreed 16 summer events .

ALEXX STAHL uses this time and concerts in order to sing himself into the hearts of the fans and the band members.

That he is a great musician, BONFIRE knew, but that it would also function as human friendly and makes so much fun to work with him to act and to travel, that was already a pleasant surprise.Alexx is a real gentleman!

Therefore, the musicians around band founder HANS ZILLER decided to undertake Alexx permanently as the new Bonfire singer.

Our big thank you goes to Michael Bormann - which is certainly an absolute exceptional singer , and this he has been proved for years in various projects - for his willingness to enter into BONFIRE and also for his understanding to our final decision and wish him for his future musical path only the very best. And we all mean that honestly !!!!!

The new BONFIRE - STUDIO ALBUM appears in the March / April 2017

Don't know why you'd say that, absolutely none of his post-JH lyrics suggest anything like that. ;)

Anyway, this is really disappointing only seeing all this today. For me, Bormann would be a good (and German) fit for the band, as well as having a history with the band too. What a shame. Impatient fucks. ;)

I assume the new guy will be out in a couple of weeks anyway... I just hope there is still opportunity for Bormann to slot back in. Before he leaves and Tony Harnell becomes the new singer for Bonfire... before he then leaves so Jeff Scott Soto can be their vocalist. Before David Reece comes back. And then finally Lessman returns. Before Reece comes back...

This just in: I'm the new singer in Bonfire.

...never mind, I just quit. I accepted an offer to be the new bassist in Bobby Blotzer's Ratt instead.

...oh wait, nevermind again, I just quit that too.

Who really cares anymore about Bonfire?

Especially now?

I would definitely care about Bonfire with Bormann in the band. Both have been pottering around for a while now, but together I feel like that could have been something really worthwhile. Something close to prime time Jaded Heart, even? It's shame it didn't work out and to be honest, I'm surprised Ziller isn't more intelligent than that... using "Oh, we can't possibly wait until October - we have sooo much to do!" as an excuse to miss out on a highly reputable singer and presence that could legitimately fix what has become a bit of a joke of a band. Stupid decision.

For me Glorious was more like Atrocious yet I still thought Phantom 5 was enjoyable.

As for Charade I was not that impressed.

Michael Bormann vocals are great but sometimes I think it don't always fit right.

I wish he would do something closer to old Bon Jovi / Blue Tears style

As for the new vocals I'll have to wait and see.

Right now I guess I'm sticking with Phantom 5 or whatever Claus Lessmann puts out.

I like the Phantom 5 album, and so much better than Glorious for me anyway.

Phantom 5 seems to be another one I missed completely. I wonder if it also came out while I was Indonesia last year...

Yeah, that's what I mean. I was active in the thread basically right up until it was released, which suggests to me I was away when it was released and the discussion was long dead by the time I returned to the forum. The Roth Brock was another one I totally missed, and Tempt. A few releases in a block last year that I missed and need to catch up on.

Roth Brock is v good

Yeah, given it a couple of spins at the end of last week and it's nice. Good solid album which I all but missed entirely after the initial commentary early on.

    • Another Robert Mason post, but this time I really do feel a connection with it. I'm sure I've mentioned it before, but my name is Dustin.  Everybody calls me Dusty, so when I saw the new Warrant album (Rockaholic) featured not only one of my favourite vocalists, but also included a track called Dusty's Revenge, I couldn't believe it. I then find out that it's a concept album about a "Rockaholic" called Dusty. For obvious reasons, I love this album. Here's a couple of tracks.
    • Harpsichord.    I thought of it and it was random, so there you go.
    • From their FB page: Alcatrazz wish to make the following announcement: Back in late 2020 the brilliant Doogie White came in to help us out with our then already booked live dates after the departure of the previous vocalist (those dates were ultimately postponed to late 2021 due to the Covid lockdowns). We all had a GREAT time...and thus, one thing led to another and before we knew it we had made two fantastic albums and toured considerably in a nearly 4 year period. Now our schedule is getting busier and busier, as is Doogie's with his very fine solo work... and with that, the inevitable clashing of dates in our respective diaries, and needless to say, the impossibility of him being able to be in two places at one time. We remain on very very good terms with Doogie and cannot thank him enough for his contributions to the band, he is very welcome on our stage anytime, as are all past Alcatrazz alumni. Current Warlord vocalist and someone already known to many Alcatrazz fans (as co-producer and also contributing songwriter for Alcatrazz's past 3 albums) Giles Lavery will be stepping up for the 2024 live dates - and with that we will be reintroducing many songs from the Alcatrazz past, including some not played in many years. Giles's first show is 22nd of March in New Orleans, lets all make him feel welcome and please lets also give a massive thank you to our dear friend Doogie White for everything he gave to this band since 2020, he is a true pro and a great person! Doogie has a video message to the fans that we will share later today as well. Jimmy, Gary, Joe, Larry.
    • Maybe it's because I've heard GnR a couple thousand times by now, but I much prefer "Fall to Pieces" by Velvet Revolver over "Sweet Child o Mine" at this point in my life.
    • I'll have to investigate that Durbin. I'd count Striker and Mick Mars among the best metal releases as well now that I think about it.
    • Haven't picked up Saxon yet, but as far as metal goes, I love the new Durbin album as well.
    • I wasn’t thrilled with the singles as they came out, other than “The Serpent and the King”, but I’ll be damned if they haven’t grown on me while listening to them as part of the cohesive package that is “Invincible Shield”. I broke down and picked up the Target exclusive to get the three bonus tracks, and I enjoy them too. Overall, a damn fine addition to the JP discography. Is it better than “Firepower“? I’m not there yet, but time will tell. 🤔 This one and Saxon have set the bar pretty high for metal this year. 👍
    • Agree with this. Though I think you should check out Firepower. You can get it real cheap new everywhere. It is molten. I'm also enjoying Invincible very much and 2024 new music as a whole.
    • I remember my early days on the internet joining a group on Yahoo (yeah thats how long ago it was) and the woman who created the group was trying to persaude me how great Creed was, so much so that she sent me the first two albums on CD. I had no idea what they sounded like. When I played them all I could think is that they sounded like Pearl Jam, and I fucking hate Pearl Jam. I ended up trading them for something better. I can't remember the ins and outs of it, but I somehow shared my CD collection online and she noticed straight away that the Creed CDs were not listed. She asked me why and I said I sold them as really did not like them, and got something I did like. She never spoke to me again after that
