Review from heavyparadise.blogspot:

Imperium is the solo project of STRIKE's drummer Mika Brushane. Mika is a well-known musician that played (drums) in many bands/projects and composed songs for different genres and this legacy of mixed genres can be heard in the new IMPERIUM songs!

For "Dreamhunter", Mika achieved to gather many renowned musicians and the result is this brilliant record. The album’s post production was mixed by Erkka Korhonen (Urban Tale, Northern Kings, Ari Koivunen, Raskasta Joulua) and was mastered by the legendary Mika Jussila (Nightwish, Children of bodom, Stratovarius, HIM etc.). The sound here is basically melodic hard rock, including big melodies, catchy hooks and choruses and very good guitar work with a strong metallic edge and the result is going to please every fan of this scene out there.

"Dreamhunter", that kicks-off the new record is simply melodic hard rock paradise; a fast-paced rocker with an 80's vibe in it and passionate vocals that grabs you and leaves you hungry for more! "Heaven Is Falling" is yet another late 80's melodic gem. It features a stunning up-tempo melody, crunchy guitars and the necessary 'sweet' chorus line to sing-a-long for days!!! "Always Forever" has this Scandi magic in it while in "There Will Be Light" the band delivers a 'heavier' song that features great arrangements, 'clever' keys and a superb melody. For sure one of the album's highlights. "80's Love Song" is simply a beautiful ballad (very 80's...) and the U.S. flavored "Starlight" is made for big arenas!!!!

"Dreamhunter" is a 'back to the past' album! It brings you back to the late 80's, early 90', with its fantastic tracks, the beautiful melodies and big harmonies and the amazing guitar work! Everything here flows perfectly and at the end leaves a big smile upon the face of every melodic fan.

Some sounds decent. Some not. I'm just not a fan of projects with a different singer for each track.

Didn't I start this thread with just that?

Did you, though?

Ease up Stefan.

As for the music here I'm kinda in agreement with Karpetfunky in that this sounds a bit patchy. I just don't feel the samples above live up to the description. Some of it's pretty cool but some is kind of average sounding. Will check out the album properly though.

Q. Who are the vocalists? Karpet you mention there is a different vocalist on each track though I can't see the line-up.

Only listened to a couple of the tracks but it's really doing very little for me. Some okay choruses, but otherwise quite weak.

Each video has credits pop up as it plays. I'd have to play them again to tell you who they are, because their names aren't familiar to me.

    • Just bought it recently. Waiting for it to arrive to give it a good listen.
    • Bit of a creeper this album, but I dig. Just did a quick little read-up on these guys on wikipedia and seems like there's an interesting history. I knew them from way back when then they released two very solid but pretty unspectacular albums in 2005 and 2007, and then went silent and I kind of forgot about them. Seems like a bit happened in those years, including their lead vocalist passing in 2014 (R.I.P). Also, possibly of interest, Don Vedda played in this band from 2019-2020.  This new album has actually been released without a lead vocalist in the band, but a host of guest vocalists on every track. Amazingly, it flows very well. The style is more mellow, and I must say, preferable to me. As noted at the start, the songs are instantly nice, but really grow and they're some of my favourites of the year so far now.  Scary Kids Scaring Kids     -    Out of Light 1    .    Nightmare (feat. Spencer Charnas) 2    .    The Dark (feat. Noah Sebastian) 3    .    To the Unknown (feat. Vaines) 4    .    Until You Come Back (feat. Matt Macdonald) 5    .    Knock It All Down (feat. Lil Lotus) 6    .    New Morning (feat. Cove Reber) 7    .    Omens (feat. Spencer Chamberlain) 8    .    Black Hole (feat. Donovan Melero) 9    .    I Wanna Know (feat. Jesse Cash) 10    .    Escape from My Reality (feat. MOD SUN) 11    .    Endlessly Yours (feat. Tyler Posey, Phem) 12    .    For Atlas (feat. Michael Swank)
    • Another one I'm sure I've gone on about in the past, but apparently no thread yet.  He doesn't seem to make a lot of music, but when he does it is awesome. Such as this... Paul Bartolome     -    Reflections, Pt.1 1    .    Fractures (feat. Dave Escamilla) 2    .    Anxiety (U Just Don't Get It) 3    .    While We're Still Young 4    .    Burn It Down (feat. David Bartolome) 5    .    Hypocrite   Easily one of the best songs of the year so far-       From the previously very awesome 'Screaming through the radio' EP-
    • I know I've posted about this hombre several times before, but apparently not in his own thread. This must change as I find him to be so awesome but no one seems to acknowledge his existence. Not just here, but his youtube channel and reach seems to be so small. Crazy for someone who produces bone crunching quality on a madly consistent basis.  Eric Dalton     -    Playing Favorites (2022) 1    .    Calling Card 2    .    Oblivion 3    .    Head in the Clouds 4    .    X My Heart 5    .    Infection 6    .    My Demons 7    .    Solace 8    .    A Part of Me 9    .    Without You 10    .    Deception     Sorry, I know I've posted this before, but his youtube channel features all three of his (excellent) albums in full if interest permits. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCb2I3-4_UvFnWWTcXBBLPYA
    • Interesting what bands catch on this forum and the ones that don't. To me, this is a pretty good band and I'm a bit surprised, on a forum where bands like Shiraz Lane and Bad City are appreciated, there seems to be no interest in these guys. Good band that does, for whatever reason, remind me of the likes of the aforementioned Bad City.  There's a bit of hit and miss about the debut and it's far from perfect, but a pretty cool band worthy of mention and interest on a forum such as this.  Anyway, this was one of my favourites of the album- For die-hards, I stumbled across this non-album track.
    • New video for 'I Will Be Stronger' feat. Joel Hoekstra.
    • Very nice piece of modern rock on offer here. Lot to like on this one.  Fame on Fire     -    Welcome to the Chaos 1    .    Intro 2    .    Welcome to the Chaos (feat. Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills) 3    .    Ketamine 4    .    Cut Throat 5    .    Emo Shit (feat. Kody Lavigne) 6    .    Lost In Doubt 7    .    Robbery 8    .    Signs 9    .    Plastic Heart 10    .    Rotting Away 11    .    Back Then 12    .    Jaded 13    .    Dead or Alive
    • Welcome, album of the year? Love this project with vigour. I snuck 'Saturday' on the playlist I put on with the kids in the car, lol. Can't wait to hear any of the songs I haven't already heard and showered in love from this.
    • Did anyone notice these guys released another new album?  As expected, it's pretty weak and more proof of their solid decline.  HOWEVER!  There is actually a good song on it. It's only one, but I kind of clapped and cheered when I heard this. I used to love these guys so much, and still love the albums I always loved from these guys but it's been some barren years. It was good to hear them do what they used to do with great ease.
