Press release:

Frontiers Music Srl is excited to announce a new band that just joined the label roster: THE DEFIANTS!

Behind this new band is a trio of fabulous musicians all with ties to Danger Danger.

On vocals and guitar, is none other than Mr. Paul Laine! Best known for being the D2 singer for 12 years, Paul is now coming back to work with his former bandmates Bruno Ravel and Rob Marcello, who are the other two pillars of The DEFIANTS.

“Very, very excited about this new project, and to be working again with my ol’ pal Paul Laine, and of course, Rob Marcello!” says Bruno Ravel, who will also produce the debut album. “The writing process has been a lot of fun. We all trust and respect each other’s instincts so there’s little second guessing and that takes a lot of the usual stress out of the equation, so for me, this has been a blast so far. We will be entering the studio in the next few weeks to start recording, with completion set for the end of the year. So…what should you expect,? Well, expect some straight ahead “in your face” melodic hard rock, that’s what!”

Paul Laine says: “I’m very happy to once again, create something special with Bruno and Rob. Although it’s a brand new release, I feel It's a great opportunity to say thank you and do something for the fans who have followed us through the years. Bruno and Rob are immense talents. I feel honored to be a part of this and have my voice on this album.” Rob Marcello concludes “Beyond psyched to work with my best friend Bruno and Paul on this project! It’s going to be a great one! Can’t wait for you to hear it!"

The band will be documenting the recording process and uploading studio clips and song samples on their FB page as the album takes shape. Expect the album to hit the stores in late Spring / early Summer 2016.

Edit: Adding these April 4th, 2016 (to help newcomers):

DD still have Steve West and Ted Poley so probably this new project don't fit them quite well.

Don't get hopes too high as this might go swinging heavy to modern or country, but well something to expect early next year :D

Yeah, as far as I know D2 are done and I got the impression it was mostly because Bruno (and Steve?) couldn't really be bothered with music anymore. So I'm very surprised to see this project, but also very excited.

I do wonder why on earth Steve West is not involved, as I assumed there would never be a day that Bruno and Steve did not record together, if they recorded at all.

Anyway, without a doubt this is something to look forward to.

Dick for info. Think they would have the common decency to have a song snippet or something to go along with the 2 post Facebook page. Sheesh.

If by done you mean no new album, maybe that's true, but I just saw a flyer somewhere on the net that they're playing at Vasby Rock Festival with W.A.S.P and H.E.A.T probably around July 2015, and the formation is intact (West, Ravel, Poley, Marcello) so they're still active I guess

News from PAUL LAINE on THE DEFIANTS and also DARK HORSE:

Last Day????????Maaaaaaybbbbeeee?????Bruno and I have been(Lets just say 99% Bruno-1 % me)killing ourselves to get The Defiants thing done and finished...We pretty much are now,and thats a good thing..I can safely say, that anybody who loved what we did in the past, will freak out when they hear this record...It's pretty damn cool, and we wrote our asses off..

To all of you out there who still follow me,I have a couple things to say...

1. I am sorry for not being on here, and being able to write you all back..usually I am pretty good at this part of social media? But sometimes when you are "doing your art",as I like to think of it,some things must be sacrificed to get it done...Social media was one of those things..So were emails/phone calls/visiting family/having any sort of normal life...Please give me a pass...Sometimes I have to drop out,in order to be good at what I do..

2. DarkHorse!!!! Yes YesYes!!! Still continues to be my number 1 thing, just as DangerDanger continues to be Bruno and Rob's number 1 thing...

DarkHorse Album 2 is just about to be recorded, and Nashville awaits..
DarkHorse will have some cool show announcements soon for 2016 as well...very soon..

Along with all that,I will be going into the studio with John Macarthur Ellis to cut the new Stacey Mckittrick single, and will be singing a duet with her on it...Looking forward to working with both John and Stacey...so...
Let the first half of the marathon that 2016 is going to be,start.

Nashville,L.A.,then Milan Italy,Melborne Australia..All before the end of May..
Anybody want my life??...wait a min...

maybe you do...
Take your vitamins.

DangerDanger continues to be Bruno and Rob's number 1 thing...

Really? Is that true? I wonder in what capacity this is? Purely in terms of touring, or is new material for D2 an option? Is Ted still part of the band?

    • I know, I know. We all know the answer but still I have to ask: So what happened to the "Cessation of Touring Contract" by the Crue?
    • Whoah... much better than I expected before clicking on them. Reminds me vocally of a lighter version of Lizzy Borden crossed with Rob Moratti. I'm going to have to track this one down.
    • from various internet sources: TYGERS OF PAN TANG will release their new album, “Ritual”, next Friday, while this Japanese edition including a bonus track appeared today. This is the band’s second recording by the current Tygers lineup, recorded with the help of renowned Søren Andersen, most recently known for his role as Glenn Hughes’s guitarist. Mastering done by Harry Hess (Harem Scarem). Tygers Of Pan Tang is a legendary band with some legendary albums, but I’m dare to say “Ritual” is one of their best. There’s a classic melodic hard rock feel all over the record, with some irresistible riffing, powerful grooves and catchy choruses. The mastermind here is original member, guitarist Robb Weir. The band’s current phase proves as formidable as its heyday, with longtime drummer Craig Ellis, vocalist Jacopo Meille, bassist Gavin Gray and guitarist Micky Crystal. “Ritual” wastes no time in stampeding the listener with the bursting “Worlds Apart,” one of the heaviest tunes on the album. Fair warning though – the straight forward chorus can stick in your mind for weeks, like a modern day version of “Gangland.” This isn’t the only instance on “Ritual,” this is an album chock full of hook laden rockers. “Destiny” slides in and the ride continues with a soulful voice. The pounding percussion is back and the riff are melodic, precise. The lyrics are thoughtful, and well written, and do tell a story, unlike many of these so-called hits of today in those other genres that just repeat over and over again. Slipping into the triple-twist of the steam train you’re on, comes, “Rescue Me“. There’s a simple riff and hook that becomes infectious, and still has you in its clutches. The vocals, clear and understandable, will have you singing along before you realize you’re doing it. The track that will “Raise Some Hell” is definitely the hidden gem on the record. This has got to be a live track used to get the crowd worked into a frenzy. Fast-paced, and rockin’ as hell. Screaming vocals, a rocket train paced guitar, and drums to match. If this song doesn’t get you off your backside and have your fist-pounding, then shut off the record and go back to your BackStreet Boys, because you’re listening to the wrong music! As this roller coaster continues, you reach the point where you just don’t wanna get off yet, and hope the rest is just as exciting. Luckily, you would be right. “Spoils Of War” might be the most melodic song of the bunch, but this midtempo still rocks hard and the solo kills. Masterfully played track. After a few more thrills, and twists, you know the ride is gaining its way to the final gate, but don’t take the safety bar off just yet. “The Art Of Noise” has yet another trick that will have you raising your fists into the air, and trying to catch your breath once again. Hang on, because you still have to “Sail On” until the end. Maybe not the most exciting part of this ride, but still an effective end. Clear concise vocals and equally as good playing from the rest of the Tygers are ever-present here. So sit back, and enjoy this last bit of this “Ritual” and to hell with keeping your arms and legs inside the ride at all times. “Ritual” may be the bast sounding Tygers album since 1981’s Spellbound, but don’t take me wrong, it’s still a fresh new album that stands on its own. You couldn’t ask for a more beautifully produced album. Presenting a top notch mix and crystal clear recording, the use of modern technology pays homage to the band’s legacy without succumbing to a thin lifeless sound. And songwriting is just as strong, as each musician performance. One of the best classic rock / traditional hard / melodic albums of the year. Raise those fists, and enjoy. Highly Recommended Tracklist: 01 – Worlds Apart 02 – Destiny 03 – Rescue Me 04 – Raise Some Hell 05 – Spoils of War 06 – White Lines 07 – Words Cut Like Knives 08 – Damn You! 09 – Love Will Find a Way 10 – Art of Noise 11 – Sail On JAPAN BONUS TRACK: 12 – Don’t Touch Me There (2019 Version) Robb Weir – Guitars Craig Ellis – Drums Jack Meille – Vocals Gavin Gray – Bass Micky Crystal – Guitars   BUY IT www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/MICP-11527

    • Don't miss it. They're still amazing live.
    • Is he really more and more in demand? Or is it simply signing with Frontiers means he is producing?

    • Heard of Kane only from the band LSD and I have no clue who the other person is.
