1992 - Best Albums

Recommended Posts

  • My Little Pony

Back in the direction I'm comfortable with. '92 was another monster year, and this seemed to be when we started seeing a lot of decent indie releases. How do you choose between these? With albums like Doin' the Nasty, Double Eclipse, Five Easy Pieces, Gotthard, Great King Rat, Hold Your Fire, III Sides to Every Story, Nothing Sacred, Shock to the System, Sven Gali, Tangled In Reins, The Wild Life, Von Groove, and Whipped! it's nearly impossible. And even indies from Joker and Rude, that would have made them had they been released three years earlier. I'm gonna select Great King Rat as my favourite, because their debut pretty much dominated 2014 for me.

The Brave - Battle Cries
Joker - Cool Deal
Slik Toxik - Doin' the Nasty
Hardline - Double Eclipse
Dirty Looks - Five Easy Pieces
Gotthard - Gotthard
Great King Rat - Great King Rat
Electric Boys - Groovus Maximus
Firehouse - Hold Your Fire
Extreme - III Sides To Every Story
Babylon A.D. - Nothing Sacred
Wall of Silence - Shock to the System
Sven Gali - Sven Gali
Steelheart - Tangled In Reins
Slaughter - The Wild Life
Rude - Touch It!
Paul Janz - Trust
Von Groove - Von Groove
West of Sunset - West of Sunset
Faster Pussycat - Whipped!

No Bangalore Choir?!

Add it to the never-ending list of albums I have yet to hear. I know it's a classic, because you lot always talk about it, but I've never got around to picking it up. Like I've said before, I'm so far behind; I don't have the time and money to catch up as quickly as I'd like.

Bit beside myself there t see you asterix From The Fire (pretty average, to me) and no asterix for Masquerade (which is very close to perfection, to me). In fact, on a list that strong, I'm very surprised how much you like that From The Fire disc.

Wildside and Universe would be the wildcards of this year - could rate super high for me.

Funny how nobody has done a best of 1993 topic. Did all the good stuff just stop after 1992?

For me 1993 still had some great ones like: Lillian Axe - Psychoschizophrenia, Harem Scarem - Mood Swings, Savatage - Edge Of Thorns, Saigon Kick - Water, Paradise Lost - Icon, Manic Street Preachers - Gold Against The Soul and I Mother Earth - Dig

Bonham Mad Hatter

D.A.D. Riskin' It All

GUN Gallus

Yesterday I spun SAINTS AND SINNERS on youtube for quick rating and I'm surprised to see such an addictive album but at the same time clogged with several weaker tracks. I pull out the disc and spun the whole thing again. Replay value of this is quite high as it's a varied album and I think it's better than what I expected first, even though still weaker than the average rating on the mainsite.

It's around 84% from me and anybody here rating this around it or below ? :)

I was gonna start it, but I don't know if I'll be crucified for it. ;}

Yeah, I just assumed we were taking a breather. When I have finished my ratings (mid to late next year, hopefully), I'll make sure there's a topic for EVERY year from 1984 to now. ;) Actually, that will include all my modern stuff when I get to 2000+, I so it may be 3 years. ;)
