Top 10 bands I cursed by becoming a fan:

1. CrashDiet -- became a huge fan after Rest In Sleaze is released. The singer than commits suicide.

2. Gotthard -- I was late to get into this and but they became my favorite band. Singer killed in motorcycle accident.

3. Harem Scarem -- Another band I like early on but kinda lost interest in. Got back into them and then they announce a few years later they are splitting up.

4. Star Rats -- A band that came out of nowhere and blew me away with "Rebelution". The following year, the singer departs and their next disc with new singer blows.

5. Jet -- one of my favorite '70's inspired bands who released 2 great discs and 1 subpar one. Then they disband.

6. Dokken -- The legends. Was a Dokken-aholic from 1984-1988. Listened to them non-stop. Then they break-up in 1988 after releasing their best studio disc "Back For The Attack".

7. L.A. Guns -- Another band I loved. And then after the awesome "Vicious Circle", bye-bye to them and hello revolving door at vocalist.

8. Dream Evil -- one of those bands that hit me hard and loved 'em. After 3 excellent releases, the great Gus G. and snowy Shaw both leave. Band hasn't quite been the same since.

9. Ratt -- Another band I totally loved. And then they disintegrated from within. I'm glad they are back.

10. Lillian Axe -- A band that is in my Top 5 all-time favorites. After Psychoschizophrenia, they split for awhile but returned in 2002. Shortly afterword, the great Ron Taylor leaves the band and they've been slow and dreary ever since. The last disc was a vast improvement with a 4th different singer since Ron's departure.

I think of him more as a metal vocalist, because of the heaviness in his voice and the fact that Tytan were a Heavy Metal band. If he was in that list, he'd definitely be at number 1!

List of metal vocalists coming up...

Hm ... I'm not sure I could divide my favourite vocalists so neatly, so here's a list of ten vocalists that I never get tired of listening to (in no particular order):

Bruce Dickinson

Fish

Ronnie James Dio

Rob Halford (apart from the crap he did with Fight and Two)

Dani Filth

Floor Jansen

King Diamond

Bon Scott

Angela Gossow

David Lee Roth

I forgot Angela. Hmm...

There's a challenge in there. I reckon I could disprove your "never get tired of listening to" theory - I think everyone's King Diamond tolerance has a limit!

The biggest problem I have with King Diamond isn't his voice, it's the fact that some of his songs are a little too 'samey' ... I can listen to 'Melissa', 'Don't Break The Oath', 'Them' and 'Abigail' until the animals of your choice make their way to their domicile, but some of his latter-day solo stuff is a little interchangeable ... not that this is necessarily a bad thing, you understand - after all, a bad King Diamond song is still better than a lot of stuff out there - but it does mean that I sometimes end up with a sense of deja-vu ... ;)

    • New song "Endless' (Toto cover).
    • No official release yet so don't know when exactly the album is supposed to come out but I'm assuming it's this year. I'm sure you're all brimming with excitement.
    • I posed him that exact question on his discord page as to what his future plans are.... He said he plans to relax for a bit, do his You Tube thing, keep writing new music and then will decide how to release that music.  He said as of now he's thinking he'll either do a solo thing or form his own band.  He didn't say this but I'd sort of envision a Daughtry type "band" where he kind of puts a band behind his name. So essentially, I think you're right on with his plans.  Ultimately, I think like you say, the control is a big part of it.  I think he wants to be able to operate on his own schedule to maintain his health and family obligations. It'll be interesting to see what sound the new material takes on.  It would seem logical to think it would be rock/melodic rock of some sort since that's really the type of music he's built his following with but he certainly has shown he can dabble anywhere from AOR to metal.
    • Glad I got to see them with Erik in front. All the best to him, definitely looking forward to his future outings when he is fully recovered. Would be cool to see him form his own band, where he could take control, and play around in different genres, from full on metal, to soothing AOR, the guy is so versatile.
    • Remedy - Crying Heart. One I've just seen thanks to the Iridium channel.  From the upcoming album. It's a Killer.
    • Let's not forget Benny Hill. What a Magnificent show that was.
    • Yeah... I dunno about that. It would be too cringe. Who knows? If I'm high enough, I might submit a video.
    • Yep great track and if you fancy being in the video for "The Feeling" nows your chance.
    • I'm proud to say that I had this single when I was a mere 8 years old. KISS were big down here then. Norman Gunston is Iconic for Aussies of my vintage.  The face ln the bottom left says it all. Hilarious.
    • All in all, this is a great story. Erik played a brilliant, well received, albeit short cameo with one of our favourite bands.  It was a win, win, win. A win for us, a win for Skid Row (the album certainly put them back on the map) and a win for Erik, adding this to his already impressive resume. The fact that it was so amicable with both parties is also great to see.
