OK guys if you are going to be soooooo anal that I can't include Johnny Lima, even though I've paid my money and have the MP3s.........how is this any different to a digital release??..............well here you go a full top 15

[all i will say is that Johnny will be included in the 2014 list based on the full 15 songs NOT the 11 being released.....cos my CD will have 15!]

1. Pretty Maids - Motherland

2. De La Cruz - Street Level

3. WET - Rise Up

4. Find Me - Wings Of Love

5. Adriangale - Suckerpunch!

6. Stryper - No More Hell To Pay

7. Edens Curse - Symphony of Sin

8. Heavens Basement - Filthy Empire

9. Vega - What The Hell

10. Hardcore Superstar - C'Mon Take On Me

11. Reckless Love - Spirit

12. Lavalle - Dear Sanity

13. Rage of Angels - s/t

14. Degreed - We Don't Belong

15. James Labrie - Impermanent Resonance

I do still want to hear the Reece and Maxx Explosion discs though as I think both could make this list.

Nice list, mate. I'll have quite a few similar titles. And don't concern yourself with either Reece or Maxx Explosion. I doubt either would be anywhere near your top 15. For me personally, both are out of my top 100. Maxx Explosion has potential but just doesn't quite deliver. And well, Reece... that one sounds identical to the 15 other CDs he's released in the last few years. Very, very average... again.

Yeah havent been able to hear samples of either which was my main concern. Maxx interested me as 'Devils Locomotive' and 'Famous' - the 2 tracks ive heard, are both excellent but I fear they are the best tracks??

There's a few pretty good songs and nice hook ideas. But I dunno how to explain it, there's just something definitely missing. The whole thing almost sounds a little unfinished. Like they could have had great songs with crisp hooks, but instead it's almost like slightly polished demos.

Definitely potential, and I hope they learn a lot for the 2nd disc. It's a nice start, but needs some refining. I thought 'Devil's Locomotive' was close to the weakest on the disc, but 'Famous' was about the best. Along with 'Can't stop falling' and 'Don't wanna break' I thought they were the highlights of the disc.

Really, ha ha, I love 'Devil's Locomotive'.....one of the most kick arse songs this year imo. That bass kills.

One album I forgot to mention is Tainted Nation - F.E.A.R.

Still love this album and would be sat in the 16-20 range along with Santa Cruz, The Theander Expression (excellent AOR!), Faith Circus and maybe Place Vendome (which was a bit of a disappointment for me personally. Solid but not as good as I had hoped for).

In fact, here you go, an updated top 20 -

1. Pretty Maids - Motherland

2. De La Cruz - Street Level

3. WET - Rise Up

4. Find Me - Wings Of Love

5. Adriangale - Suckerpunch!

6. Stryper - No More Hell To Pay

7. Edens Curse - Symphony of Sin

8. Heavens Basement - Filthy Empire
9. Vega - What The Hell

10. Hardcore Superstar - C'Mon Take On Me

11. Reckless Love - Spirit

12. Lavalle - Dear Sanity

13. Rage of Angels - s/t

14. Degreed - We Don't Belong

15. James Labrie - Impermanent Resonance

16. Tainted Nation - FEAR

17. Santa Cruz - Screamin For Adrenaline

18. The Theander Expression - Strange Nostalgia

19. Faith Circus - Turn Up The Band

20. Place Vendome - Thunder In The Distance.

Kinda hard to do a "Best of 2013" this year cuz I only bought 42 CDs this year (fuckin' economy!)...and of those 42, only 10 were 2013 releases.

...and of those 10, two were by Stryper and two were by the various Queensryches! ...

So fuck it, I boiled those 10 down to a Top 3:

Stryper - No More Hell to Pay

Newsted - Heavy Metal Music

ToddRyche - S/T

Honorable mention: Beatallica, Abbey Load

Sympathy is probably the one of the 2 tracks I like from that album, although nothing spectacular, generally speaking.

Like Keef, I didn't get around to too many 2013 releases, and some that I did I won't even mention, because they don't excite me enough. Here are my favourites of what I heard in no special order, aside form alphabetical:

Shit that you guys would listen to:

AdrianGale - Sucker Punch! (Just an all around solid Melodic Rock album.)

Degreed - We Don't Belong (Holy shit!!)

John Elefante - On My Way to the Sun (This man can do no wrong)

Jonas & the Massive Attraction - Live Out Loud (I'm getting tired of being informed of great Canadian bands by Geoffrey. This shit should be all over Canadian radio!)

Tom Keifer - The Way Life Goes (I was not expecting much from this. Probably because I didn't know what to expect. I love it!)

The Poodles - Tour De Force (Certainly their heaviest. Much better then "Performocracy," but not as good as "Clash of the Elements.")

Queensryche - Quuensryche (Todd-feckin'-La Torre!! What a cool and humble guy! Such a privilege to see this incarnation perform on the MOR Cruise.)

Reckless Love - Spirit (One the most anticipated releases of the year, and it sure didn't disappoint.)

Saxon - Sacrifice (Is it bad that this was my introduction to Saxon? Pretty feckin' good introduction, I'd say.)

Stryper - No More Hell to Pay (Easily my favourite Stryper album. I've never been a big fan, but this is solid all the way through!)

W.E.T. - Rise Up (I caved and started liking W.E.T.. I still think Jeff Scott Soto is overrated, but the boys sure brought it with this one.)

The Wild Lies - Jack's Out the Box (What a way to start off the feckin' year!!)

The Winery Dogs - The Winery Dogs (Here's another one I didn't know what to expect. Probably the best musicianship of the year.)

Shit that you guys probably wouldn't listen to:

Charles Bradley - Victim of Love (The Screamin' Eagle of Soul returned with a much more consistent album. Phenomenal Soul and R&B.)

Capital Cities - In a Tidal Wave of Mystery (80's, 80's, 80's! This Synthpop duo have been around for a few years, but finally broke through.)

Earth, Wind & Fire - Now, Then & Forever (This is the only album I feel comfortable lauding as number one! Simply incredible!!)

Hurts - Exile (Much darker than their first offering--if that's even possible--and much more atmospheric. Powerful!)

J. Cole - Born Sinner (If there was only one Hip Hop album you listened to all year, it should have been this one.)

St. Lucia - When the Night (Big 80's Pop vibes on this one. If I were forced to make a top 5 of 2013, this would be in it.)

As far as songs go, here are the ones that don't stop bouncin' around in my head:

Degreed - What If

Earth, Wind & Fire - The Rush

Smallpools - Dreaming

St. Lucia - Elevate

Stryper - The One

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DV2Q20NvKSE

Peter Thomas - All of You ft. Betty Who (This may have only dropped in December, but I know I'll be playing it all of 2014!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjEKXipqIK4

Waltham - The Highway

The Wild LIes - Heartbreaker

I didn't buy many new releases last year, but of those I did Hell's 'Curse & Chapter' and Sound Storm's 'Immortalia' are vying for position as my favourites of 2013 ...

Nice list, didn't expect for you to have so much love for the new Crashdiet. Sure it's good but thought it's out of top 20

Never heard of Madman's Lullaby and The Jokers, will check em out

Madmans joker still appears to be a preorder.

Madman's Lullaby was released independently from the band, I snagged my copy on CD Baby. Kivel Records is releasing it sometime soon. It's excellent!!! Recommended!!

The songs are so strong on Playground that I am able to overlook the rough production. I just find myself continually spinning this one. Great album IMO.
