have it pre-ordered :) looking forward to this.

After reading that whole Lonnie/David fiasco, I don't think I'll ever pre-order another CD. Even from reputable dealers.

Never mind that. Hey Nolan have you tried ordering from NEH, shipping to Canada went from 4$ to 7$ for a cd now. Not that it's their fault, but at 7$ a cd, I'll be bundling and waiting even longer to make my purchases. I want the WET that comes out on the 22nd of Feb, however I was going to wait and get it when the new Pretty Maids comes out on March 22nd...For a few bucks I can't wait a whole month. But I certainly won't be buying just anything and everything anymore. I wis we had a music dealer like NEH here in Canada.

As an Aussie we've basically been excluded from buying new CDs. :( Obviously anywhere in the US is off the list, Amazon.uk has been useless for about a year now since they started charging postage again, and even the CDWOW website is useless now as they charge for postage too, and are too expensive anyway. Don't even know what the best option would be anymore for a new release. Basically, all are unaffordable.

God forbid that anyone should ever just walk into a CD shop anymore......if there were any that is. What is happening to this world?

Wow I remember the days that I would spend a whole afternoon in Shades in London.....chatting to the staff, listening to all the imports....great times. Wont ever get back to that :-(

All CD shops will be gone within 5 years, I am sure of it. I really miss it too and think it's such a sad thing that our kids will miss out on. Music to them will just be this kind of insignificant thing they pluck off the internet for free - surely that just "cheapens" the whole experience of music in every way.

This thread's gone way off track, but I have been wondering that, if it will actually lead to the demise of music when it is so readily available for free everywhere. I wonder what will happen when all us oldies who are used to buying our music pass on and it's left to the kids who never paid for music in their life. I still have this belief that there will still be plenty of people out there still doing it for the love of the music itself. People with ideas will still want other people to hear those ideas, in form of music.

Obviously there will be a day when you can no longer generate income out of music sales alone and every cent made will be from live performances, I guess? Who knows, it may not be a full time job for anyone anymore, but surely music won't just fade in it's entirety, and by that I mean any genre. Just look at Pete. He recorded a bunch of albums while holding down his job. It can be done, and with technology advancing as it is, it'll only get easier to make music whilst living a financially sustainable life on the side. lol, who knows. Crazy times ahead for music, for sure.

I live right next to the border, so I just drive three minutes to my PO box. It's still a hassle having to cross the border--I have a right-hand drive sports car, and I guess I look like a punk-ass--but it's quickly becoming my only option.

I'm still confident that CD won't vanish at least in the next 10 years, although CD stores might be because the cost of rent and employees surely are rising fast while CD prices won't. Remember, as of now, even vinyl is coming back and some people are still buying that and one day maybe CD will be too, there's always a specific market for that, but survivors in this business definitely are people at eBay, Amazon, and other online stores.

I agree that people shouldn't rely his living based on music anymore except he has a regular gig or something like that because the cost of renting studio, making music, producing CD and distributing it is just way too much to handle. Back in the days, label threw lots of money for that, but now, musician are on their own. I bet labels like Frontiers and AOR Heaven won't throw a buck except some royalties after sales, but how much will artist get from that ? For example, if you can sell 100.000 CDs and say you get 25% from that, for $10 a piece, you get roughly $250.000, minus production cost, say you get $150.000 and divided by 5 people, $50.000 divided for two years for each new album, $25.000 to live in a single year, and that if you can sell 100k CDs, that's painful, especially when nowadays, band are struggling to sell like 10.000 CDs unless you're playing emo, pop punk, or those major label stuffs.

To quote Metallica, sad but true.

anyway, back to this WET thing, I threw couple of bucks to order this, Lionville II, Sapphire Eyes, and Night Flight Orchestra at Amazon UK, don't mind buying a little bit expensive for once in couple years :D

If this doesn't obliterate virtually every other release this year I'd be shocked to be honest. Just listening to the samples I know I will love this album.

Yeah, I agree it'll most likely be the 2nd best album of the year (after Waltham, of course) and I'm actually surprised by Tangocharlie's comments as the songs I'm hearing so far are so goddamn instantly catchy and awesome, and I actually keep thinking - every time I hear a new song - that this will be even better than the debut.

OK, who's heard it then? Ive been listening to it all morning on Spotify, and it is awesome.

Firstly lets clear up the big talking point of the year so far : Production. Spot on, nothing more than you would expect from the personnel on board, but this is tight. Every instrument sounds huge and the mix is perfect.

JSS vocals sound great throughout.

Songwise, we are talking 90% on first listen but this will easily attain 95% from me.....better than any album last year.

2 songs which absolutely killed me on first listen was 'Shot' and the title track....both 10/10 dead set stunners.

To be honest, I'd be amazed if anything tops this in 2013.

Just waiting on the physical copy now.

Cheers

    • Ordered Saturday, arrived today. Wasn't expecting them that quickly. I especially like the stickered custom-fitted protective mailer that the Live at Budokan Tokyo 1983 set came in, protecting it from being banged against other merchandise in the carton. Very nicely priced (see my threads in the deals section).
    • Filthy Rich - Too Hot for Love
    • Awesome! I got my copy last week. About a year ago, they said announced that they were re-recording their songs, but I'm not sure if they're still doing it.
    • They released a double best of, Ultimate Hits and double CD of Masterpieces two years ago.
    • Yeah pretty good band, the cd is hard to find , I got the demo recordings cd they released on Street Legacy back in 2013.
    • "Suspicious Heart" by Van Stephenson
    • I wound up picking this one up as well, and I must say, this has been a most pleasant surprise. Very good melodic rock/AOR throughout, and gets better with each listen. Not sure why they haven't released "Midnight Lady" as a single/video, as it is far and away the best track on the album... IMO of course.
    • This one is really good honestly, 10 songs, pretty much all their big hits. Very concise.
    • I think most people know my stance on these two. I love LA Guns and think Tracii is one of the best guitarists to come out of the hair metal scene, and while I like Stryper I have really gone off them due to Michaels compulsion to release new material every second Wednesday. I have not bought the last 2 or 3 Stryper albums, and a bunch of other stuff he is involved in because of this. Hell, didnt even pick the first Sunbomb album up til early this year and only then it was because I got it for £5 instead of the usual £13 to £15 that Frontiers CDs usually cost. That album did not impress me. Musically it was tight but Sweets vocals were pretty "meh", and sounds like they are gonna be even worse on this album. Have to agree to what has already been said, but I can barely even understand what he is singing. Now while I am fine with listening to foreign language songs, if a singers native tongue is English, I wanna be able to understand what he is singing. Fuck me, there are death metal bands out there easier to understand than this. If I didnt know the song title, I would think it was called I'm bating bulls yeah
