Abused Romance - 'Shine'

I've mentioned this album in a few threads, and again I thought this would impact my 2012 list... but I just found out it was released last year. I think it's a very fine slab of modern melodic rock and really worth checking out, considering the band is offering a free download of the album from their website. You can also buy a physical copy of the disc there, and musicbuymail has it too. I think the best songs on this really walk a fine line between "modern" and a lot of what we listen to here.

Here's my sneaky little mini review here:

 

1. Vaporize - great opener with an excellent melodic chorus - 8.50

2. Overcome - very nice modern melodic rocker with a nice hook - 7.75

3. Hit and Run - good, catchy modern rocker - 7.50

4. Shine - good, solid modern rock - 7.25

5. Rise - another great almost Silly Fools-esque modern rock - 7.75

6. Room 2238 - cool instrumental

7. Bleeding - very nice modern melodic rock with cool riffage - 8.00

8. Shades of Grey - great, hooky modern rock ballad - 8.75

9. Amberlin - killer modernish, but mostly just melodic rock - 8.50

10. Fly High - solid modern rock song - 7.00

11. Sound of Violence - another solid modern rock tune - 7.00

12. Fell in Love - excellent modern rock ballad - 8.75

Yeah it's a good album - had this for a while - haha unfortunately I bought it. Could have sworn that there was an old thread on these guys but maybe not.

Probably just my first spin impression, which is always a bit more excited or underwhelming than my end thoughts. But I gotta say, 78% is a pretty damn high score from me... not far off 80% at all. Some really brilliant songs on here...
