Queensryche... the end is near.

So evidently Queensryche's days are numbered....

Geoff Tate seems to have "lost the plot" completely (just gonna provide links if you wanna read up on the situation:

Operation KnifeCrime

Gonna Get Pissed At You

and now it looks like the band has found a "sound alike" replacement for Tate (

), and will be going out on tour doing material from the first 5 QR releases:

They will be touring under the moniker Rising West. I give 'em props for immediately realizing a new band name was called for (and Tate would probably block any attempts by them to tour as QR anyway). Shame it's all come to this, but I look forward to some new tunes from Rising West in the classic QR vein! \m/

Hooooboy. Put on your helmets, folks. This is gonna get UG-LY!!

On one hand, I'm like "It's about f*ckin' TIME!"

On the other hand, couldn't they have found someone else to play Tate Clone in their new combo? Lord knows there are more than enough of them out there, so why did they have to pinch Crimson Glory's guy? Cuz if this Rising West thing takes off, then Todd LaTorre's commitment to Crimson Glory will fall by the wayside and we'll NEVER get that new goddamn Crimson Glory album that's supposedly been in the works for...oh, three or four years last I checked?? :cussing:

I saw the M3 set and thought something was going on, they totally sucked. Just saw a little of the Rockahoma set and they seemed worse than M3 show. They were one of those bands I used to love, but lost all interest in the last 20 years or so.

I haven't watched them at M3 yet but I caught the last couple songs they did at Rocklahoma. I haven't seen Tate live for a while and man he looks rough. Looks like a fat Rob Halford. And the shirt he was wearing was too short so everytime he would raise his arms his gut would come flopping out. He sounded ok but left the stage before the band finished the last song "Eyes Of A Stranger". Just walked off and the band went into an extended jam and that was it. I thought it was very odd and I guess this explains things a bit.

well they should have call it quit after 'Empire' just don't know what are they waiting for :D

Agreed - they went rapidly downhill after 'Empire' ... and now Tate appears determined to completely tarnish the Queesnryche name ... pity ...

Yeah, I'd be lying if I said I'd every song they've recorded since 'Empire,' but what I've heard has all been stuff not worth recording. I agree they should have called it quits back then. I do feel for the other guys in the band, though. What a mess...

Its a shame it ends this way but it did need to end. The last album I have been able to stand is Hear in the Now Frontier. The last KILLER album was Empire and that was over 20 years ago.

RIP...

Although I've liked some of their recent stuff (OK I'm a nutjob) they've been treading water too long. Pity it's ended this way but something had to give I guess - not too many tears shed I'm afraid.

  • My Little Pony

How the mighty have fallen. Sure, Queensryche haven't, arguably, done anything worth blowing a load in over twenty years, but, now, when I play Mindcrime for the 1000001st time, I won't help but think, "F**king Geoff Tate needs to eat bag of hairy old man dicks."

What can you say. He has completely lost it. It will probably not be an album as good as Mindcrime ever by any group...

We can hope that with Tate out of the way they will go back to more of a classic QR album. A dream would be if Degarmo comes back again. I think they need his great song writing abillities.

Geoff Tate at Rocklahoma "You Guys Suck" video:

What a asshole...

he looks like Ming The Merciless

:rofl2:

I'm actually in that video at about the 1:00 mark right behind the guy with his hands in the air.

Talked to a couple people who shall stay nameless but it appears that Rocklahoma was Tate's last show with the band.

Why did you guys suck so bad Dave? ;)

At least you can say you got to see Tate perform w/Queensryche at his very last show.

The crowd sucked because Tate sucked. In tate's defense, the sound was terrible... the mix may have been the worst I've ever heard at a live concert. The prior night the sound was the same way during Megadeth. It seemed like they picked and choose who to give the good sound to.

    • I'm sure you remember as I do the "Black and White Minstrel Show". These days it's incredible to think that this was considered wholesome family viewing at the time.  There's absolutely no way something like this would fly today.
