Why does this frighten me? I wasn't too big a fan of the stuff without Dave King, and now there's yet another new vocalist

FASTWAY Signs European Deal With STEAMHAMMER/SPV

FASTWAY, the brainchild of ex-MOTÖRHEAD guitarist Fast Eddie Clarke, has inked a European deal with Steamhammer/SPV. The band's first studio album since 1990, "Eat Dog Eat", will be released on November 14 (three days earlier in Germany). The CD, which features new vocalist Toby Jepson (ex-LITTLE ANGELS), is described by Clarke as "by far the best thing I have done since the first FASTWAY album. This is classic rock at its best!"

Commented Olly Hahn, A&R representative at Steamhammer: "It`s an honor to have Fast Eddie Clarke and his band on our label. He was THE guitar player in MOTÖRHEAD but also with FASTWAY he delivered awesome music. With 'Eat Dog Eat' he's definitely back... probably better than ever!"

Formed in 1983, FASTWAY's self-titled debut album entered the U.K. charts at No. 43 and received very good reviews. One year later, "All Fired Up" was released and was a great success, thanks in no small part to high-profile support tours in the U.S. with SCORPIONS and RUSH. In 1985 "Waiting For The Roar" saw the light of day and was followed by dates with AC/DC on the "Fly On The Wall" tour. In 1986 FASTWAY wrote the soundtrack to the horror movie "Trick Or Treat" starring Ozzy Osbourne and Gene Simmons.

After 1986, FASTWAY released two more studio albums with a different lineup and issued several live and best-of LPs.

Well looks like they are off to a great start with the album cover drawn by a seventh grader. Definitely not expecting much with this release. -_-

This is why I love almost-English press releases:

"he's definitely back... probably better than ever"

I realize that SPV is a German label and therefore what the label guy really meant was likely lost in translation, but saying that he's "probably better than ever" doesn't exactly scream confidence, does it?

It's like "So, hey, Label Guy, is that new Fastway album good?" "I dunno... probably."

I'll go where no one else dares and say the only good thing that ever came out of Fastway was when Lea Hart was involved. Without him I can't possibly believe they'd record something that'd interest me personally. Would love to be proved wrong, but if I'm being honest I doubt I'll even bother listening to this one. Maybe? But not in any hurry.

WWWWhat?

Are you saying you didn't like the Dave King stuff?

The first two and even more so the Trick or Treat soundtrack are killer IMO.

Sorry cousin, hated them all. I think there was one decent track on the 'Trick or treat' soundtrack and 'Waiting for the roar' was half okay... but as a whole, no... just not a band that worked for me at all.

    • Ordered Saturday, arrived today. Wasn't expecting them that quickly. I especially like the stickered custom-fitted protective mailer that the Live at Budokan Tokyo 1983 set came in, protecting it from being banged against other merchandise in the carton. Very nicely priced (see my threads in the deals section).
    • Filthy Rich - Too Hot for Love
    • Awesome! I got my copy last week. About a year ago, they said announced that they were re-recording their songs, but I'm not sure if they're still doing it.
    • They released a double best of, Ultimate Hits and double CD of Masterpieces two years ago.
    • Yeah pretty good band, the cd is hard to find , I got the demo recordings cd they released on Street Legacy back in 2013.
    • "Suspicious Heart" by Van Stephenson
    • I wound up picking this one up as well, and I must say, this has been a most pleasant surprise. Very good melodic rock/AOR throughout, and gets better with each listen. Not sure why they haven't released "Midnight Lady" as a single/video, as it is far and away the best track on the album... IMO of course.
    • This one is really good honestly, 10 songs, pretty much all their big hits. Very concise.
    • I think most people know my stance on these two. I love LA Guns and think Tracii is one of the best guitarists to come out of the hair metal scene, and while I like Stryper I have really gone off them due to Michaels compulsion to release new material every second Wednesday. I have not bought the last 2 or 3 Stryper albums, and a bunch of other stuff he is involved in because of this. Hell, didnt even pick the first Sunbomb album up til early this year and only then it was because I got it for £5 instead of the usual £13 to £15 that Frontiers CDs usually cost. That album did not impress me. Musically it was tight but Sweets vocals were pretty "meh", and sounds like they are gonna be even worse on this album. Have to agree to what has already been said, but I can barely even understand what he is singing. Now while I am fine with listening to foreign language songs, if a singers native tongue is English, I wanna be able to understand what he is singing. Fuck me, there are death metal bands out there easier to understand than this. If I didnt know the song title, I would think it was called I'm bating bulls yeah
