Stryper review

I'm still not a huge fan of cover albums, but if you have to do one, this is the way it should be done.

You creepy bias Christian bastard. ;)

Still haven't given this one a go and I'm still not sure I ever will, but I've seen a couple of decent reviews now. Everytime I consider it, though, I look at the original songs and wonder if *ducks incoming hatred from everyone around* dogshit truly can be polished. I just don't have an interest in those songs and I'd be amazed if Stryper can make me have an interest in those songs. Oh well, maybe one day I'll find out...

I really dislike cover albums...they usually get one or two spins and then collect dust....but I must admit to being intrigued by the tracks they've chosen to cover....I may take the plunge and pick it up...

i must admit, i dig this one.

Last year, i was in awe with Vince Neil's Tattoos and Tequila, and 'The Covering' might as well be my fave cover-album of 2011 :)

I've mentioned this before, but I am actually one of those people who loves covers albums and tribute albums.

This is one of the best of them in my opinion.

As Nightrain says, the Vince one last year was fantastic as well.

What I like about tribute albums, covers albums and cover songs is that not only do they give me a chance to hear my favourite bands take on another song (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt) but its also exposed me to other bands or songs that I have missed over the years, when someone covers something I have never heard before.

For instance, if you go back to the late 80s/early 90s, it was the likes of Motley Crue and Skid Row covering Sex Pistols that turned me onto them, and gave me an appreciation of punk.

    • Well it definitely motivated Spongebob
    • I love motivational hair metal songs, so I figured I'll create a thread for people share them. Here are a few of my favorites: "Don't Surrender" by Mercury   "Overnight Sensation" by Firehouse   "Sweet Victory" by David Glen Eisley and Bob Kulick
    • New album out January 24. From Pride & Joy Music: UK guitarist and songwriter Neil Fraser previously has worked/recorded with the likes of TEN, Rage of Angels/Ged Rylands (Tyketto), Tony Mills (TNT, SHY). Trishula started out as Neil’s solo project back in 2015.    Fraser had previously worked with Welsh vocalist Jason Morgan in the band Rage of Angels, so Jason was Neil’s first choice for lead vocal duties when it came to assembling the band members for Trishula. It took another 4 years of song writing from 2015 before the debut album ‘Scared to breathe’ was released in 2019. Whilst recording the debut, the UK based group were joined by Neil’s long-time friend and MAGNUM keyboard player Rick Benton and bass player Dan Clark from the Rebecca Downes Band. One year after the release of the debut, Trishula released their second album ‘Time waits for no man’ in 2020. It was at this point that Neil Ogden (DEMON) became their new drummer. A third album, ‘We all fall down’, was released in 2022.   The brand new fourth CD is titled ‘Becoming the enemy’ and the first one to be released on the band’s new label Pride & Joy Music.
    • My introduction to the band...way back when
    • Well that took far too long to kick in for me,its ok and he has an amazing voice...just wish he'd get a great song given to him again
    • This one popped up in my rotation today as it does frequently because I fucking love this track.  It contains killer lines like, "From the pale lips of the youth who lay", "After dark is the game I play" and "I hit the sack when the Sun's coming back". I've also added a video of an acoustic performance I came across years ago by some young "buskers", which is AWESOME! I wonder how many of you know this classic from the lines above before clicking on the "hidden content"? I would guess most.
    • Robban Back was their studio drummer
    • 'Still Believe' was my pick from this album. All in all I'd agree it's probably their best in a while. Not great, but not bad.
